    Abstract

The research aims to show a simple, rapid, portable, and inexpensive analysis of an air quality measurer tool. In contrast to others, these three tools consisted by air quality measurer tool based on particulates, CO2 meters for measuring the quality of carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide meters as carbon monoxide quality measurer tool. The advantages of these three tools are being easy to use and used anywhere (portable). The total analysis costs less than 1,100 USD, while the price of air quality measurer tool that is commonly used by researchers can reach more than 6,000 USD. So, these three tools are worth to be used and effective as supporting media in developing countries. This research method used qualitative analysis by analyzing air quality using these three tools by focusing on functional water quality meters. The results of this study indicate that the use of portable tools makes it easier to retrieve air quality measurement data because it is more efficient in terms of cost and time. In conclusion, this study can be used as a reference information for further studies in examining air pollution. © 2019 University of Kuwait. All rights reserved.

Author: Lia Warlina, Assyfa Octaviyani Istiqomah, Salsabila Suci Ramadhani, Putri Amirah, Cep Ubad Abdullah

    Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the level of air pollution due to traffic and the amount of CO, CO2, and water quality monitors issued by vehicles in the city of Bandung. To measure the dispersion of air pollution, we measure at different altitude points in the same location. One is measured on the ground, and another is measured at an altitude of approximately 35 meters. For comparison, we tested measurements before and after rain. The results show that the basic and above concentrations are different. Even though the conditions are rainy, it still shows similar results, if at the bottom of the soil the concentration is higher than the concentration of a height of 35m. That happened because the most polluted sources of air pollution are at point 0 M, because the biggest source of air pollution in big cities like Bandung is motorcycle fumes. Y concentration is lower than that at bottom. Therefore, this study can provide information about the existence of pollution dispersion processes that can be a reference when calculating the actual situation. © 2019 University of Kuwait. DOI: 10.1088/1757-899X/662/4/042023

    Abstract

The purpose of this study is to developing smart environment systems model for optimization in agriculture is to monitor soil, water, pollution levels, and weather conditions in farming. The monitoring process is carried out to increase the level of agricultural productivity. The model can be used to assist farmers in the decision-making process to cultivate the land and determine the types of commodities to be planted. The method used to develop the model is a descriptive qualitative. The result of the research is a model. Poor pollution levels and relatively erratic weather can worsen the productivity of agricultural land. These conditions make it difficult for farmers to determine the right seeds and fertilizers to use, as well as the right time to start the planting period. Thus the model is expected to support farmers in increasing the quantity and quality of their agricultural products. The model is developed as a part of the implementation of the smart city and internet of things (IoT) concepts which specialize in creating smart environments in agriculture. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. DOI: 10.1088/1757-899X/662/2/022096

    Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop a monitoring application of clean water access for the community and determining areas that need to improve access to clean water. Data collection was done by examining documents which were related to clean water management and conducting interviews with the Department of Housing and Settlement of West Java Province. The results of data collection are used to develop a clean water monitoring application system based on Android and Web. Data from the application will be used for clustering with the K-Means algorithm. For example, in the city of Bandung, 12 urban village areas were recommended for increasing access to clean water. The area has a percentage of ownership of clean water access approaching the value of 29.96% of the ownership of clean water sources for food and drink, 28.96% for ownership of other sources of clean water and 14.48% for ownership of reserves of clean water. The optimal number of clusters of clean water access in the city of Bandung is three clusters because it has the lowest Davies-Bouldin Index (DBI) value of 0.439. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

  • Assessment of the Water Quality and Environmental Management in Jangari Reservoir Watershed Using Selected Physical, Chemical, and Biological Parameters

Assessment of the Water Quality and Environmental Management in Jangari Reservoir Watershed Using Selected Physical, Chemical, and Biological Parameters

Author: Senny Luckyardi, Theresia Valentina Lumban Gaol, Dina Oktafiani

    Abstract

This study examines water quality and environmental management in the Cirata Reservoir by using certain physical, chemical, and biological parameters associated with environmental management. The physical parameters measured were rainfall, temperature, Total Dissolved Solid (TDS), and turbidity. The chemical parameters measured are the degree of acidity (pH) and electrical conductivity (EC). While the biological parameter measured is the density of phytoplankton. The field survey was conducted as a data collection method supported by literature review and interviews. This research used quantitative methods with a qualitative approach. Water samples were taken at the location where water flows in the Cirata Reservoir from Purwakarta, Cianjur, and West Bandung boils down, namely in the Jangari area Bobojong, Cianjur. Samples were taken at two points about 200 m apart. Sampling was also carried out in harbor and fish breeding. The results showed that the Cirata reservoir water flow was polluted with high levels. It is indicated by TDS 102-129 ppm that means high inorganic content. Due to inadequate environmental management from the authorities and community activities that do not pay attention to environmental sustainability. Therefore, all related parties together with the community in the area around Cirata Reservoir, especially Jangari, have a key role in preserving the function. This study’s results can enrich the literature on water quality and environmental management and provide input for local governments regarding reservoir management. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University

    DOI: 10.17509/ijost.v7i3.51464

    Abstract

The objectives of this paper are to analyze the implementation and architecture of the Internet of Things (IoT) from previous studies, specifically in the world of higher education; offer recommendations for future research, as well as strengthen the theory of IoT architecture that already exists in higher education. This study employed a systematic literature review (SLR) with data collection utilizing Funnel Diagrams to select articles based on their relevance to the research question. The three publisher databases (Scopus, Emerald, and EBSCO) and index journals were utilized in the search for articles. A total of 1,200 articles were gathered from these three sources, with distributions of up to 800 in Scopus, 150 in Emerald, and 250 in EBSCO. The findings demonstrate that the existing IoT architecture has a more sophisticated model than the fundamental idea, which has three layers, implying that using IoT in education may have a significant influence on user convenience. This is due to the increasingly complicated requirements of higher education’s many business procedures. This study serves as an inspiration and reference for future research for higher education institutions that include the Internet of Things in their implementation to build an efficient teaching and learning environment. © 2022 Tim Pengembang Jurnal UPI.

    DOI: –

    Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of rain on the quality of the surrounding air by looking at indications of CO, CO2, PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 gas and comparing them with Environmental policy. In this study we conducted research by measuring several parameters before and after rain. To support this research, we also calculated the number of vehicles that passed in that time period. As a model we chose Bandung as a research place because the city is one of the big cities in Indonesia and is a tourism city as well. we also compare the financial calculations that can be affected by this pollution. Results show that Bandung has a high level of air pollution even though it is still below the threshold. After rain, the concentration of pollution levels decreases. In terms of policy, Bandung still has a fairly healthy air because there are still many plants. The economic aspect of Bandung has a strong tourist attraction. An example of air control policy is found in the regulation of the city of Bandung in number 06 of 2011 concerning the implementation, protection, and management of the environment and West Java provincial regulation number 11 of 2006 concerning air pollution control. The policy states the emission threshold that should be released so as not to pollute air quality. Especially, this study focused on the city of Bandung, but vehicles must be limited to maintaining the air quality. In conclusion, this study can be used as a reference for policy makers so that we can protect the environment. © 2019 University of Kuwait. All rights reserved.

    DOI: 10.1088/1757-899X/662/4/042005

    Abstract

This study aims to uncover the factors that influence the emergence and sustainability of collective action of FOs. Furthermore, this study analyzes the effect of collective action on the increasing economies of scale and efficiency of FOs’ members. The content analysis method was applied in this research. The case study involved Farmers’ Organizations located in Kalangsuria Village, Rengasdengklok Sub-district, Karawang Regency. Much research has been conducted on Gabungan Kelompok Tani (Gapoktan) or Farmers’ Organizations (FOs) as farmers’ institutions that perform collective action in the agribusiness from the input process to the processing process. However, previous research has not much explored the factors influencing the emergence of agribusiness collective action in FOs. The limitation of previous research leads to the failure to understand the emerging issues of processes and mechanisms of collective action within FOs. Agribusiness activities carried out collectively by Gapoktan Sri Mulya are related to the social bonding and social bridging to a willingness to do agribusiness activities collectively. However, collective action in agribusiness production is not optimal, particularly in anticipating climate change. It was because the factors of human capital, such as education and knowledge of farmers in developing rice farming can also affect the efficiency of farming. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd.
