Author: Senny Luckyardi ; Ratih Hurriyati ; Disman ; Puspo Dewi Dirgantari

    DOI: 10.15549/jeecar.v9i1.867

    Abstract:

Poverty in Indonesia has become a critical issue as a result of social and economic disparities. The phenomenon is inextricably linked to education’s role as a gateway to poverty alleviation. One of the primary causes of entrepreneurial failure, which ultimately increases the risk of bankruptcy and poverty, is a lack of public knowledge about marketing. From the stated problem, the purpose of this research is to investigate how marketing education can aid in the reduction of poverty in the context of quality-of-life improvement. Because most previous research focused on unemployment and income levels as indicators of poverty, which did not explain the quality of life comprehensively, a review of the quality of life is required in this study. Additionally, Man Whitney analysis was used to compare the quality of life in the two groups of respondents using a quantitative method. Observations were also conducted for a period of six months to assess the respondents’ quality of life. WHOQOL-BREF was used as a research instrument and was distributed to Group 1 (30 respondents who had received marketing education) and Group 2 (30 respondents who had not received marketing education). Each respondent is from a different province in Indonesia. The findings indicate that marketing education can help reduce poverty, resulting in significant improvements in quality of life. Marketing knowledge leads to positive changes that have a significant impact on human well-being. This research contributes to our understanding of marketing education as a means of reducing poverty. © 2022, Institute of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. All rights reserved.

    Regional Economic Contributions of Indonesia

Authors: Senny Luckyardi ; Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto ; Sri Supatmi ; Lia Warlina ; Faridah Hj Hassan

    DOI: 10.15549/jeecar.v9i1.866

    Abstract:

To boost the development of a regional agricultural sector, a wider scope of superior commodities can be used. It certainly would contribute a lot to regional and national economic sustainability. Therefore, the stakeholders need to formulate an effective and efficient marketing strategy to balance the supply and demand of agricultural products and improve farmers’ welfare. Marketing strategies in each country were differently influenced by several factors ranging from geography, politics, and people’s consumption patterns. This study compares the marketing strategies for leading agricultural commodities in Indonesia and Uzbekistan to obtain a new formula for marketing agricultural products. Uzbekistan is considered one of the countries in Central Asia that has a lot in common with Indonesia, especially in the agricultural sector, and vice versa. This study aims to develop a marketing strategy for enhanced regional commodities and see how significant the economic contribution of the Garut region is on a national scale. The Literature review is used as a research method. We also conducted a case study and field survey in the Garut region, one of the agriculture centers in Indonesia. The results also indicate that a marketing strategy can boost the economy of a specific area. It can be useful for local governments and business entities when developing effective strategies to deal with the national economy and for monitoring of farmer effectiveness. © 2022, Institute of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Authors: Warlina, Lia ; Soegoto, Eddy Soeryanto ; Supatmi, Sri ; Oktafiani, Dina ; Jatnika, Rakhmat

    DOI: DOI: 10.15549/jeecar.v10i1.1084

    Abstract

This research aims to determine agriculture as the leading sector for regional competitive advantage in the Garut Regency. The method used was Location Quotient, Shift-Share Analysis, and Klassen Typology to classify the sectors and determine the structural pattern of economic development in the Garut Regency. The findings of Location Quotient indicate that agriculture is the leading sector in Garut Regency. The shift-share calculation shows that agriculture has the highest national share and the most significant growth change but has a negative value on proportional shift (industry mix) and differential shift (competitive effect). Based on the Klassen typology, the agricultural sector is in Quadrant II, the developed but depressed industry. The results showed that the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector in Garut Regency has a competitive advantage, but it has not been supported structurally in West Java Province. © 2023, Institute of Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
