    UNIKOM Becomes a Role-Model Campus for Digitalization; UGJ Cirebon Conducts Benchmarking to Strengthen its Digital Campus

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) hosted a follow-up benchmarking visit from Universitas Swadaya Gunung Jati (UGJ) Cirebon to strengthen digital campus governance. Held in the Grand Meeting Room on the 15th floor of UNIKOM’s Smart Building, the event served as a continuation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both institutions on March 5, 2026.

    This benchmarking also aimed to enhance the capacity of both institutions through the exchange of best practices in the management and digital transformation of higher education. The main focus of the discussion included the digital campus blueprint, digital governance and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and the roadmap for higher education digital transformation.

    The UGJ delegation was led directly by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Achmad Faqih, S.P., M.M., IPU., CIRR., along with university leaders, including Vice Rectors, Deans, and the Head of the Cooperation and Public Relations Office. Meanwhile, the UNIKOM delegation was led by the Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs, representing the Rector, and was accompanied by Vice Rectors, Deputy Vice Rectors, Deans, and Directors in various strategic fields such as Research, Innovation, International Cooperation, as well as Public Relations and Protocol.

    Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs of UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Narimawati, Dra., S.E., M.Si., representing UNIKOM’s Rector, Prof. 3 Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T., stated that the visit was a follow-up to the cooperation previously established. Prof. Umi emphasized that this benchmarking activity also served as a strategic opportunity to strengthen synergy among universities in the development of campus digitalization.

    Furthermore, Prof. Umi highlighted that UNIKOM, as a digital-based campus and a Digital Entrepreneurial University, is committed to supporting UGJ in its digital transformation process. “UNIKOM Rector, Prof. Eddy, as Chair of APTISI West Java, encourages collaboration among universities so they can move forward, progress, and succeed together. This activity is part of a comprehensively designed digital culture training program. Moving forward, UNIKOM will provide advanced training designed to meet UGJ’s needs by sending a team of instructors directly to UGJ to support the sustainable implementation of campus digitalization,” she concluded.

    Meanwhile, the UGJ Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Achmad Faqih, S.P., M.M., IPU., CIRR., expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and the collaboration established between the two institutions. He emphasized that this benchmarking is a strategic step to strengthen cooperation in implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education, encompassing education and teaching, research, training, and community service.

    The UGJ Rector also emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing the challenges of globalization and the rapid development of information technology. This collaboration is expected to be mutually beneficial while contributing to the preparation of an outstanding generation for Indonesia Emas 2045, one that possesses strong digital technology proficiency.

    As part of the implementation of this collaboration, the event continued with the signing of subsidiary cooperation documents, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and an Implementation Agreement (IA) between UGJ and UNIKOM. This collaboration involves various faculties, including the Faculty of Postgraduate, the Faculty of Economics and Business, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, and the Faculty of Law, in partnership with UGJ’s Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Education and Science, and Faculty of Agriculture, as well as several other areas of collaboration.

    The activity continued with discussion and benchmarking sessions that addressed the implementation of digital transformation with a focus on practical and technical aspects. The discussions were interactive, featuring the exchange of experiences, strategies, and innovations in managing higher education digital systems. As a demonstration of commitment to this collaboration, UNIKOM representatives will visit UGJ campus to review its digital systems. This activity is planned to be conducted through training programs, seminars, or focus group discussions focusing on strategies for the comprehensive development of a digital campus ecosystem.

    The UGJ delegation also participated in a campus tour to observe UNIKOM’s impressive facilities. The tour highlighted the campus digitalization initiatives that have been effectively implemented across key facilities at UNIKOM, including the UNIKOM AI Lab X Google Learning Center, hybrid lecture halls at the Faculty of Postgraduate, and the UNIKOM server room, which serves as the hub of the campus’s digital infrastructure.

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – A touching and solemn atmosphere enveloped the 17th-floor auditorium of the Smart Building at Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The entire leaders and academic community of UNIKOM gathered for a prayer to commemorate the late Mrs. Hj. Lasmaya’a Oli’i, Chairwoman of the Science and Technology Foundation and the beloved mother of UNIKOM Rector, Prof. 3 Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T. She passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the age of 86.

    Coinciding with Kartini Day, the prayer served as a final tribute and an expression of deep condolences from the UNIKOM family for the loss of a figure known for her dedication to education. The late Mrs. Hj. Lasmaya’a Oli’i was also an inspirational figure for UNIKOM, playing a crucial role in the institution’s development and progress. Her contributions are reflected in her unwavering prayers and constant support for her son, who currently serves as Rector of UNIKOM and Chair of APTISI West Java. Her prayers, love, and sincerity formed a moral and spiritual foundation that strengthened the leadership journey and inspired progress in both the institution and the broader field of education, particularly within UNIKOM.

    Prof. 3 Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T., expressed his gratitude in his remarks for the support and prayers received from all parties. He remembered her as a compassionate yet firm figure with a strong commitment to advancing the foundation and the field of education. “Throughout her life, she consistently instilled in her children the value of attaining the highest level of education. Thank God, her dream has been realized. Her contributions to education, like those of Indonesia’s Kartini, instilled the belief that every woman deserves a proper education so she can contribute to society and the nation. For her, education was a top priority, for her family, society, and the nation,” he said.

    Furthermore, Prof. Eddy stated that the late Mrs. Hj. Lasmaya’a Oli’i always emphasized the importance of achieving the highest possible level of education. He believes that the progress of the Indonesian nation is largely determined by the quality of its education. Therefore, this value must continue to be implemented across various educational activities, particularly within UNIKOM, APTISI, ABPPTSI, APPERTI, and higher education institutions throughout Indonesia.

    The event continued with the screening of a biographical video depicting her life and dedication, followed by a video of the tribute procession and messages of condolence from family members, relatives, and various parties. The videos revived memories of her life and highlighted her significant contributions, particularly to the development and advancement of UNIKOM.

    The emotional atmosphere deepened when the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Prof. Dr. Hj. Dewi Kurniasih, S.IP., M.Si., recited a condolence poem as a form of respect and an expression of loss. The event then continued with an Islamic speech and prayer led by the Head of the Doctoral in Information Systems Study Program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus Nursikuwagus, S.T., M.T., M.M., who reflected on the wisdom of life and invited all attendees to pray for the late Mrs. Hj. Lasmaya’a Oli’i.

    All participants also Asr prayer together, followed by the recitation of Surah Yasin. The event concluded with a warm moment as members of the academic community took turns offering their condolences to the UNIKOM Rector as a gesture of empathy and respect.

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – An atmosphere of grief enveloped Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) during the funeral procession of the late Hj. Lasmaya Oli’i, Chairwoman of the Science and Technology Foundation and beloved mother of the UNIKOM Rector and Chair of APTISI West Java, Prof. 3 Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T. She passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 12:05 a.m. WIB.

    Held in the main lobby of UNIKOM Smart Building, the funeral procession was solemn and deep with emotion. The family, university leaders, lecturers, educational staff, and the entire UNIKOM academic community attended the ceremony before accompanying her to her final resting place. The presence of mourners served as a final tribute and an expression of deep condolences for the loss of a figure who had made significant contributions to UNIKOM’s development.

    In a solemn atmosphere, the procession began with a prayer led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus Nursikuwagus, S.T., M.T., expressing hope that the late Hj. Lasmaya Oli’i would be forgiven for all her shortcomings, her good deeds would be accepted, and that she would be granted the best place by Allah SWT.

    The UNIKOM Rector and Chair of APTISI West Java, Prof. 3 Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T., the eldest son, represented the family in remembering her as an extraordinary mother who raised her nine children with love, patience, and perseverance. According to him, thanks to her exemplary character and determination, her children grew into successful and devoted individuals who serve the nation and state. He also described her as a role model for the entire extended family. The values of patience, sincerity, and compassion that she instilled have been deeply ingrained in her children and family members.

    Prof. Eddy also apologized to the entire UNIKOM academic community for any shortcomings or unpleasant experiences during her lifetime and invited all attendees to pray for her forgiveness, the acceptance of her good deeds, and her placement in the best place by Allah SWT. In closing, he and the entire family expressed their gratitude for the prayers, support, and presence of all who came to pay their final respects. The sense of togetherness during this time of grief reflected the strong solidarity and family values within UNIKOM.

    Vice Rector II for Resources, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus Riyanto, S.T., M.T., CSBA., read a brief biography of the late Hj. Lasmaya Oli’i, followed by remarks from Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Narimawati, Dra., S.E., M.Si., representing the entire UNIKOM academic community. She conveyed that UNIKOM had lost an extraordinary figure who played an important role in the institution’s development. She described the deceased as a remarkable woman who not only successfully raised and educated her children, but also served as an inspirational figure in the advancement of education.

    Furthermore, Prof. Umi added that UNIKOM’s success is inseparable from her role and support as a founder and pioneer. She was known as a compassionate individual who consistently provided motivation and demonstrated deep concern for the advancement of education. Therefore, the entire UNIKOM academic community feels a moral responsibility to continue her legacy and uphold the values she imparted.

    Several other institutional leaders also expressed their condolences and reflected on her lifelong dedication. She was widely known as a sincere individual with a deep commitment to education and as an inspirational figure for the UNIKOM family.

    The funeral procession concluded with the burial at her final resting place in Cisarua, Jl. Ciloa Pasirhalang, West Bandung Regency. Tears and prayers accompanied her departure, leaving behind profound sorrow and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and the entire UNIKOM academic community.

    Catholic Student Association of UNIKOM Hosts Inspirational Religious Mentoring Session: Encouraging Strengthening of Students’ Faith and Character

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – The integration of faith and mental health is important in shaping resilient individuals of integrity who can maintain a balance between spiritual and psychological aspects in their daily lives. Based on this understanding, Keluarga Mahasiswa Katolik (KMK), Catholic Student Association of Universitas Komputer Indonesia organized a Religious Mentoring session on Friday, April 10, 2026. Held in Room 4310 at UNIKOM Campus I, the event was attended by a number of Catholic students preparing for their final projects, to foster spiritual development and strengthen student character.

    Father Antonius Jonmedi Tarigan served as the guest speaker, providing spiritual guidance and deep reflections on living a life of faith amid academic demands. Also present were UNIKOM’s Director of Student Affairs, Andrias Darmayadi, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., and the Advisor of KMK, Dr. Ir. Yuni Mogot, M.Si., CPR., both of whom offered full support for the event.

    Dr. Yuni, expressed her deep appreciation to the speaker and all parties involved. She emphasized that religious mentoring is an important part of the student development process, not only from a spiritual perspective but also as an administrative requirement for students preparing for their final examinations. “Thank you to Father for his willingness to attend and share his experiences and knowledge with us, as well as to the entire organizing committee for their support. May the material presented enlighten and strengthen us all to think and act better, to remain steadfast under pressure, and to continue placing our trust in God’s mercy,” she said.

    The mentoring session continued with a presentation by Father Antonius Jonmedi Tarigan on the theme “Mental Resilience: Restoration and Navigation for Students in Facing Burnout, Anxiety, and the Process of Self-Recovery,” followed by an interactive Q&A session. Participants not only listened to the presentation but also actively engaged in discussions and shared reflections.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM – On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) Bandung conducted preliminary discussions for a strategic partnership with Bakti Pendidikan Djarum Foundation to expand access to the flagship Djarum Scholarship Plus program for high-achieving students. Held in the Seminar Room of UNIKOM Campus I, the event was attended by the leadership of UNIKOM’s student affairs division and representatives from Bakti Pendidikan Djarum Foundation. Representing UNIKOM, the Director of Student Affairs, Andrias Darmayadi, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., was present, accompanied by the Head of the Scholarship Division, Dr. Linna Ismawati, S.E., M.Si. Meanwhile, Djarum Foundation was represented by Ira Ratnati, Community Development Officer, and Sandy Yudha Nasution, Deputy Community Development Manager.

    In his remarks, Andrias Darmayadi, Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the collaborative initiative. He emphasized that the Djarum Scholarship Plus program plays a strategic role in supporting the development of UNIKOM students, not only academically but also in character building and leadership. “This program opens up significant opportunities for our students to develop comprehensively. We appreciate Djarum Foundation’s commitment to providing not only financial support but also essential soft skills training to prepare students for the professional world,” he stated. Aligning with this sentiment, Dr. Linna affirmed the UNIKOM Scholarship Division’s readiness to fully support the program’s implementation, including conducting widespread outreach to students who meet the academic and non-academic criteria.

    Furthermore, Bakti Pendidikan Djarum Foundation representatives, Ira Ratnati and Sandy Yudha, explained that the Djarum Scholarship Plus program offers distinct advantages compared to other scholarships. In addition to receiving educational financial assistance for one year, the scholarship recipients, known as Beswan Djarum, will also participate in various comprehensive self-development training sessions.

    These training programs encompass Character Building, Leadership Development, and Nation Building, all specifically designed to enhance emotional intelligence, strengthen leadership skills, and foster the students’ national awareness.

    Through these preliminary partnership discussions, it is anticipated that a sustainable synergy will be established between UNIKOM and Djarum Foundation to shape a generation of outstanding, adaptive, and highly competitive youth at both the national and global levels.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM — A warm atmosphere of togetherness filled the joint Halal Bihalal event that brought together stakeholders from private higher education institutions (PTS) in West Java. The event held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, in the 17th-floor auditorium of the UNIKOM Smart Building, showcasing synergy between the Association of Indonesian Private Higher Education Institutions (APTISI) West Java, the Higher Education Service Agency (LLDIKTI) Region IV, the West Java Chapter of the Association of Private Higher Education Institutions Administrators (ABPPTSI), and the West Java Chapter of the Alliance of Indonesian Higher Education Institutions (APPERTI).

    The event began with opening remarks by the Chair of APTISI West Java and Rector of UNIKOM, Prof. 3. Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, MT. In his remarks, Prof. Eddy stated that holding this joint Halal Bihalal event carries strategic significance in demonstrating solidarity among the associations. He also emphasized that the event was intentionally organized collaboratively as a commitment to show university leaders and foundation chairs that the four associations remain united and steadfast in fostering unity.

    Furthermore, Prof. Eddy highlighted the importance of the synergy fostered through the slogan “Moving Forward Together, Progressing Together, and Succeeding Together.” He stated that this spirit serves as the foundation for uniting approximately 350 private higher education institutions in West Java, where leading institutions are expected to mentor and encourage developing institutions to achieve shared progress.

    On this occasion, as an appreciation, the Chair of APTISI West Java also expressed gratitude and presented certificates of appreciation to sponsors from various higher education institutions in the West Java region who supported the event’s organization, a symbol of their commitment to continue moving forward together in strengthening synergy and collaboration among higher education institutions in the West Java region.

    The Head of LLDIKTI Region IV, Dr. Lukman, S.T., M.Hum, in his remarks via a virtual video, stated that in the future, LLDIKTI Region IV will further optimize various services that are currently still pending. One of these relates to compliance with legal regulations, where April 30 is the deadline for higher education institutions to report all learning activities for the 2025/2026 semester. This is crucial to ensure that all activities under the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly those involving students, are recorded and reported to the ministry through the Higher Education Data Repository.

    Additionally, the Chairman of the Central APTISI, Dr. Ir. H. M. Budi Djatmiko, M.Si., M.E.I., delivered virtual video greetings for Eid al-Fitr and offered sincere apologies, both in word and deed. Dr. Budi also explained the significance of the month of Shawwal and the importance of mutual forgiveness and giving thanks for the blessings received.

    Finally, remarks were delivered by the Chair of ABPPTSI West Java, Dr. H. Ricky Agusiady, S.E., M.M., Ak., CFrA., CHRM, who emphasized that the Halal Bihalal event is not merely an annual ceremony but must be viewed as a strategic space to strengthen synergy among higher education administrators and organizers. According to him, amidst increasingly complex global challenges and technological disruption, collaboration is the key to ensuring the sustainability and progress of private higher education institutions.

    Dr. Ricky also urged all stakeholders, including ABPPTSI, APTISI, and APPERTI, to continue strengthening collaboration based on four core pillars. First, strengthening the governance of foundations and organizations to ensure transparency, accountability, and adherence to the principles of good governance. Second, improving the quality of education by ensuring that all private higher education institutions in West Java maintain competitive and sustainable standards. Third, advancing research and innovation that not only focus on scientific publications but also provide practical solutions to community problems, particularly in West Java. Fourth, adapting to educational technology through the utilization of digital ecosystems to maintain the relevance of the learning process in the modern era.

    The highlight of the event featured a religious talk and joint prayer led by Ustad Dr. H. Aam Amiruddin, M.Si, on the theme “Purify the Heart, Strengthen Bonds, and Collaborate for High-Achieving Private Universities.” In his talk, Ustad Aam explained that wisdom encompasses deep knowledge, knowledge put into practice, and one’s ability to learn from every experience. He also urged all participants to use the Eid al-Fitr occasion as a starting point for self-improvement, strengthening brotherhood, and building a shared commitment to advancing higher education.

    As a symbol of mutual forgiveness and strengthening familial bonds, the event concluded with a musafahah, a mutual exchange of greetings performed by all participants.     Abstract

    This study investigates the influence of the startup ecosystem on startup business performance in Capital Cities (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi), emphasizing the roles of iterative incremental strategies and lean startup programs. This study also examines the similarities between Central Asian countries like Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the Indonesia region. Central Asian countries face unique challenges, including less mature ecosystems, regulatory hurdles, and cultural attitudes toward entrepreneurship. Using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) on data from startups aged 1-10 years, the research reveals that these strategies significantly mediate the relationship between ecosystem support and startup success, enhancing market optimization, innovation, and sustainability. Startups achieve better financial and nonfinancial outcomes by effectively leveraging ecosystem structures through agile methodologies. By drawing on capital city experiences, Central Asian policymakers can improve startup environments through robust support structures, regulatory clarity, and education on agile methodologies. This research offers a model for enhancing startup business performance via ecosystem support and strategic agility, informing policy and program development in other regions. © 2024, University of Wollongong.     Abstract

    Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) serve as vital pillars of societal progress, fostering transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in governance while advocating for human rights, social justice, and environmental sustainability. This study investigates the role of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in promoting social and political change in Indonesia. Employing a qualitative research design, data were collected through document analysis and in-depth interviews. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data, identifying patterns and themes related to CSO strategies, interactions with the state, impact on policy, and challenges CSOs in Indonesia employ diverse advocacy strategies, including lobbying, public campaigns, grassroots mobilization, and coalition-building, to advance social and political change. They engage with policymakers and government agencies to influence legislation and shape policies. Despite facing challenges, CSOs are crucial in promoting government accountability, transparency, and civic engagement. Recognizing the vital role of CSOs in promoting democratic governance and social justice can foster greater collaboration between civil society, government, and the international community. This study contributes to political science, social sciences, and development studies by offering a comprehensive examination of the role of CSOs in Indonesia. It fills a significant gap in the academic literature by systematically analyzing CSOs’ strategies, interactions, impacts, and challenges, providing valuable insights for future research and policy development.
