    Abstract

    The ability of Chinese Literature graduates needs to be evaluated, so that the organizers of the Chinese Literature study program continue to update the courses taught at college. The ability of graduates can be seen from the results of treasure studies and the soft skills needed can be mapped. So far, the curriculum, and graduate competencies focus more on hard skills even though soft skills are also needed in doing a job. Therefore, this research was conducted to map the soft skills needed to do a job. Data collection was carried out from the input of 99 Chinese Literature graduates spread across three universities that have Chinese Literature study programs. From the input of the graduates, communication skills and teamwork are more needed in doing a job. Thus, policy makers are expected to consider a soft skill course that is beneficial for students in doing a job. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

    Construct and Design Prediction System of Level Children Retardation in Certainty Factor Model

    Abstract

    Children with special needs tend to have the ability with a unique personality background and different from other children. Teacher faces difficulties in predicting the level of children retardation. The limited human inference becomes the main obstacle in this issue. Related to this, this study has directed to overcome the limitation by developing a software for inferring the prior knowledge and providing the information to predict the level of retardation. The purpose of this research is to help teachers in predicting and obtaining the level of retardation with the assertion of prior knowledge that build a knowledge model in forward chaining inference. We used forward chaining method inference to match the level of retardation with certainty factor. The benefit of certainty factor is the process of deployment on numeric calculation with the formula that composes certainty value and rules from prior knowledge. Combining IF-THEN rule and certainty factor calculation have given a close to precise value ranging from 0 to 1. This study formulated for every prior knowledge with the expert prediction value. We built 35 rules from prior knowledge and construct IF-THEN rule. The result of the research is a prediction software that can measure the level of retardation for children. The impact of this research is that teachers can obtain the precise level of retardation and determine the treatments to be given. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University

    Abstract

    The purpose of this study was to show the strategies and policies to dealing the challenges and use of industry based on IT in Indonesia. Increasing IT technology and its utilization encourage and challenge for government to work up a strategy or a national policy based on industry necessary that needed for Minimalizing risk on economic and social aspects. In the midst of strategy, it is needed renewal reskilling workforce particularly digital reskilling for IT technology workers. In this proposal will be presented some references of policy that’s in and will be done in some countries and writer’s suggestion related with national policy so it can be implemented in Indonesia. One of the important thing, the national policy which made for an attempt to fasten the strategy implementation is the necessity of synergy consideration among existing stakeholder. The strategies that can be applied are focus on the improving, having financial efficiency, infrastructure, improve soft skills, and broaden social interaction. In order to achieve our goal to challenge the industry needed a collaboration of government, industry, educational and community based on IT. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

    Abstract

    This research aims to design a Web-based E-Learning Application at Rumah Belajar LCC-Line. The methods used in designing applications use prototype methods, starting from listening to user needs, building mock-ups of applications, and testing mock-up of applications to users. Systems analysis method uses Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), and Unified Modelling Language (UML) as a system design tool. The results of this research is a web-based e-learning application design that consists of interaction design between users, data design, and interface design. This E-Learning Application Design can be used to develop and implement E-Learning Applications. With this Web-Based E-Learning Applications can help the process of distance learning so that the learning process becomes more effective and efficient. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

    Abstract

    Assistive technology for children with special needs is a problem that is interesting to study. Collaboration between methods and latest technology can be used as a learning aid for them. Learning of Hijaiyah letters is the first step to being able to read the Holy Qur’an. Mentally retarded children have IQs below the average normal child, so their learning process is slower and requires special methods. This study aims to develop an application by using the Gillingham and augmented reality methods to help mentally retarded children recognize Hijaiyah letters. The Gillingham method uses a visual, auditory, kinestetic, and tactile (VAKT) approach that can be used to facilitate mentally retarded children. While augmented reality is used to develop more interesting and interactive applications. Based on the results of research and testing, it can be concluded that the learning application that was built can improve children’s memory and understanding of Hijaiyah letters, The results of the pretest and posttest testing, showed an increase of 12% for children who were difficult to receive learning material and 6% for children who are classified as easy to receive learning material. © 2019 International Journal of Advanced Computer Science and Applications.

    Abstract

    This study aims to analyze the relation between hard skill and soft skill competencies of Japanese language graduates on four different types of job including managers, administrators, communicators, and instructors. This research was conducted through a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 100 alumni of Japanese department from five universities in Bandung, namely Universitas Padjadjaran, STBA Yapari ABA Bandung, Universitas Kristen Maranatha, Universitas Nasional PASIM, and Universitas Komputer Indonesia. The results showed that the ability of hard skills and soft skills of Japanese department graduates is considered relevant to the needs of the world of work where graduates, especially with the type of work communicators tend to have higher hard skills and soft skills compared to other types of work. Hard skills and soft skills have a very close and inseparable relationship because the two are complementary and balance each other. The ability of hard skills for all four types of work is considered good, but the skills in applying information and communication technology have not fully supported the other skills in hard skills. The ability of soft skills in the four types of work is considered to be good because each domain of soft skills has gone hand in hand with one another in forming integrated soft skills. Japanese departments need to continuously strengthen hard skills and soft skills. This aims to enable graduates to compete in the global market. © 2019 The authors and IJLTER.ORG.     Abstract

    The Purpose of this research is to build an information system application to help teachers and students in high school in learning environmental education. Angkasa Lanud Husein Sastranegara Bandung Senior High School is an adiwiyata green school project, they also have an environmental friendly institution curriculum that is environmental education. The method used for this research is descrptive method. His method is carried out by examining an existing event and analyzed by interview and observation data collection technique. The result of this research is an application of environmental learning information systems that can help the learning process of students and teachers to achieve the appropriate target material and interactive learning so that students can easily understand the contents of the material provided. © 2019 American Scientific Publishers.

    Abstract

    This study aims to uncover the factors that influence the emergence and sustainability of collective action of FOs. Furthermore, this study analyzes the effect of collective action on the increasing economies of scale and efficiency of FOs’ members. The content analysis method was applied in this research. The case study involved Farmers’ Organizations located in Kalangsuria Village, Rengasdengklok Sub-district, Karawang Regency. Much research has been conducted on Gabungan Kelompok Tani (Gapoktan) or Farmers’ Organizations (FOs) as farmers’ institutions that perform collective action in the agribusiness from the input process to the processing process. However, previous research has not much explored the factors influencing the emergence of agribusiness collective action in FOs. The limitation of previous research leads to the failure to understand the emerging issues of processes and mechanisms of collective action within FOs. Agribusiness activities carried out collectively by Gapoktan Sri Mulya are related to the social bonding and social bridging to a willingness to do agribusiness activities collectively. However, collective action in agribusiness production is not optimal, particularly in anticipating climate change. It was because the factors of human capital, such as education and knowledge of farmers in developing rice farming can also affect the efficiency of farming. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd.     Abstract

    Sundanese culture is one of the cultures that is come form West Java region. Along with its development, not many students around West Java areas understand the Sundanese culture, if allowed to continue, Sundanese culture will lose its identity. As the development of information technology, a mobile application can be used as an application as learning media to help students and make students more interested in learning Sundanese culture as what they learn at school. This research aims to help to attract and motivate students to learn the Sundanese culture and provide entertainment aspects for students. The research method used was structured approach method and prototype development. The research design used was descriptive methods and actions. The method of data collection used was observation techniques, documentation, and interviews. System design tools used to describe the system model include use case diagrams and use case scenarios while for designing data dictionaries use were Use case diagrams, Activity diagrams, Sequence diagrams, and data dictionaries. The information system developed was using adobe flash CS6. The expectation is this application can stimulate students to learn Sundanese regional culture and can facilitate teachers in providing interactive lessons to stimulate students creativity. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

    Abstract

    The Grade Point Average (GPA) for a tertiary institution is one of the elements used to measure the quality of teaching and learning. In the Department of Computer Systems, Universitas Komputer Indonesia, there are many students who have bachelor’s degrees, but there are still many students who do not graduate on time with unsatisfactory GPA. By utilizing the pile of academic data from students who have graduated, modelling the data mining technique using the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) method with the backpropagation algorithm can be done. The purpose of this study is to test the ANN modelling with backpropagation algorithm in making a student’s Grade Point Average (GPA) prediction information system. The student GPA prediction system is used as a supporting material for the academic advisor to provide evaluation guidance to students who are considered to have academic problems. The parameter attributes used in this study included Grade Point Semester (GPS) one to four as well as several course scores as data input and GPA as an output data. The test was carried out in four scenarios, where the best results of ANN were obtained in scenario-IV with the parameters of the number of input layer neurons 18, the number of hidden layer neurons 24, the number of output layer neurons 1, learning rate (a) 0.15, 2000 iterations (epoch) and 591 data sets. The data is divided into 85% data set for training data as well as 15% data set for test data. The average accuracy obtained from this information system is 97.2%. It is expected that this study can be used as a reference for designing a data mining architecture model using the ANN backpropagation algorithm in creating values prediction information system. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.
