BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting technology-based educational transformation through its Community Service program. In collaboration with SDIT Insan Cermat, UNIKOM organized a training program titled “Optimizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Interactive Content Acceleration, Student Dynamics Analysis, and Strengthening Teacher Communication at SDIT Insan Cermat: Building a Generation of Visionary and Synergistic Digital Teachers.” Held at SDIT Insan Cermat on Jalan Cigagak, Cipadung, Bandung City, from May 13–15, 2026, the program marked a concrete step toward enhancing teachers’ digital competencies, enabling them to utilize AI wisely, effectively, and professionally in the learning process.
The program was carefully scheduled by the UNIKOM Community Service team to align with the academic calendar of the partner school, ensuring that teaching and learning activities were not disrupted. This approach reflects UNIKOM’s commitment to delivering community service programs that are not only impactful but also responsive to the needs and circumstances of educational institutions.
Strengthening teachers’ capacities was the primary focus of the program. Amid the rapid advancement of digital technology, educators are expected not only to use technology but also to integrate it into the learning process creatively, adaptively, and uphold educational values. Through this training, UNIKOM offered practical solutions to reduce the administrative burden that often consumes teachers’ time, allowing them to focus more on supporting students’ academic achievement and character development.
On this occasion, the Head of the Community Service Committee, Angga Setiyadi, M.Kom., CITPM., stated that the teachers’ enthusiasm reflected their readiness to embrace an AI-powered educational ecosystem. “We are very proud to see that the teachers are now proficient in transforming passive documents into interactive learning assets, such as quizzes and flashcards, through NotebookLM, and are able to conduct more objective, data-driven analyses of students’ psychological development. This demonstrates that the teachers at SDIT Insan Cermat are ready to position themselves as intelligent assistants and primary validators within an AI-powered educational ecosystem,” he said.
The program began with opening remarks from representatives of the SDIT Insan Cermat Foundation and the school administration, followed by intensive, application-based training sessions featuring hands-on practice, simulations, discussions, and case studies. Participants were given the opportunity to apply various AI tools to address real-world challenges commonly encountered in the school environment.
The training featured UNIKOM academics and practitioners with expertise in digital technology and AI. In the first session, Deputy Vice Rector IV, Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D., together with Dian Dharmayanti, S.T., M.Kom., Head of UNIKOM’s Codelabs Division, guided participants in optimizing NotebookLM to transform learning materials into more interactive, effective, and engaging teaching resources that are easier for students to understand. The following session, led by Angga Setiyadi, M.Kom., CITPM., and Eko Budi Setiawan, S.Kom., M.Kom., explored the application of AI in improving communication related to student learning outcomes, including the development of report card narratives that are more informative, objective, and easier for parents to understand. Subsequently, Irfan Maliki, S.T., M.T., CITPM., and Sugeng, S.Kom., M.T., introduced participants to Canva AI and Gemini Canvas, demonstrating how these tools can be used to create more engaging and creative digital learning media that enhance student engagement throughout the learning process.
Complementing these sessions, Yayah Sutisnawati, S.E., M.M., a lecturer from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UNIKOM, together with Mari Maryati, S.E., M.M., delivered a session on data-driven analysis of student psychological dynamics. Through this approach, teachers were equipped with the skills to interpret students’ behavioral development more objectively, without stigmatizing or labeling them, thereby fostering more inclusive, humanistic, and student-centered learning environments. Throughout the training, the teachers demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm. Participants actively practiced developing instructional materials using Gemini Canvas, converting learning documents into quizzes and flashcards through NotebookLM, and creating various forms of digital learning media ready for classroom implementation. These activities reflected the teachers’ readiness to integrate AI into their daily teaching practices.
In addition to enhancing digital competencies, the training also provided benefits in strengthening communication between schools and parents. By utilizing AI, teachers were able to summarize complex report card data into clear and easily understandable narratives while objectively analyzing students’ progress, making the evaluation process more accurate, efficient, and focused on supporting each student’s development. The Principal of SDIT Insan Cermat, Muhammad Iqbal, S.H., M.H., expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with UNIKOM. He emphasized that AI can significantly improve the quality of educational services when its implementation is balanced with teachers’ professionalism. “I hope that the efficiency created through AI will always be accompanied by teachers’ careful judgment as the primary validators, ensuring that every piece of content delivered to students remains accurate and aligned with the intended learning objectives,” he stated.
The Chairman of the SDIT Insan Cermat Foundation, Dr. H. Endang Jumali, Lc., M.A., M.Sc., IFP., CRFA., emphasized that technological proficiency has become an essential competency for educators in addressing future educational challenges. “Through a deeper understanding of the technologies introduced in this training, teachers will be better equipped to guide students toward becoming adaptive, creative, and innovative individuals who are well prepared to face future challenges,” he said.
Through this Community Service at SDIT Insan Cermat, UNIKOM once again reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the transformation of national education through the responsible use of digital technology and AI. In line with UNIKOM’s vision as a Digital Entrepreneurial University and an AI-Ready Campus, this initiative not only strengthens teachers’ competencies in utilizing AI as an intelligent assistant but also reinforces the indispensable role of educators as directors, decision-makers, and primary validators throughout the learning process. BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Wednesday, July 22, 2026, The Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) has once again reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening a culture of innovative and impactful research through the 2026 Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) Research Grant Contract Signing Ceremony, organized by the Directorate of Research, Community Service, and Empowerment (DP3M) and held in the Seminar Room at UNIKOM Campus I. This event marked the first step in carrying out research projects that successfully secured funding from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek), while also ensuring that researchers are prepared to conduct their studies in accordance with the established outcome targets.
For the 2026 funding cycle, UNIKOM secured 11 research projects with a total grant amount of Rp1,595,590,000. This achievement demonstrates the improving quality and competitiveness of UNIKOM faculty members’ research, while also strengthening the university’s contribution to generating innovations that support national development through the Diktisaintek Berdampak program.
Based on the funding summary, the research grants received by UNIKOM cover various schemes, namely 1 project under the International Collaborative Research scheme with funding of Rp208,000,000; 4 projects under the Regular Fundamental Research scheme totaling Rp499,020,000; 2 projects under the Doctoral Dissertation Research scheme with funding of Rp106, 530,000, Applied Research – Prototype Output (1 project worth Rp318,560,000), Applied Research – Model Output (1 project with funding of Rp164,840,000), and Prototype Commercialization (2 projects with a total grant value of Rp298,640,000).
The Director of Research, Community Service, and Community Empowerment (DP3M) at UNIKOM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irawan Afrianto, S.T., M.T., explained that the contract signing ceremony is a crucial step in ensuring all grant recipients fully understand the research activities to be carried out. “Through this contract signing, we want to ensure that all principal investigators and research team members understand the work to be carried out from conducting the research, monitoring and evaluation, preparing the final report and financial report, to achieving the outcomes specified in each grant scheme,” he said.
Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irawan noted that UNIKOM’s success in securing nearly Rp1.6 billion in research grant funding is the result of the faculty members’ hard work in preparing competitive research proposals. According to him, this achievement is expected to serve as motivation for the entire academic community to continue improving research productivity and expanding research collaborations at both the national and international levels. “We hope today’s event will encourage other UNIKOM faculty members to become even more active in participating in research grant programs, both this year and in future funding cycles. The more research projects that are funded, the greater UNIKOM’s contribution will be in generating innovations that benefit society and support the advancement of science and technology,” he added.
The contract signing ceremony also served as a coordination forum for all researchers to understand the various stages of grant implementation, including monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, administrative management, financial reporting, and strategies for achieving research outcomes in accordance with Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemenditisaintek) regulations. Thus, every funded research project is expected to proceed effectively, accountably, and produce high-quality outcomes.
The achievement of these research grants aligns with UNIKOM’s commitment as a Digital Entrepreneurial University that continues to strengthen the three pillars of higher education through research, innovation, and collaboration. The diverse range of successfully funded research projects demonstrates UNIKOM faculty members’ capacity to conduct basic and applied research, develop models and prototypes, and commercialize research outcomes that provide tangible benefits to industry and society. Through this 2026 Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Research Grant funding, UNIKOM is optimistic that it will produce various strategic outputs in the form of reputable scientific publications, technological innovations, prototype products, development models, and the strengthening of national and international research collaboration networks. This success is expected to further solidify UNIKOM’s position as a leading university in the fields of research, innovation, and community service, while contributing to the realization of a competitive, innovative, and impactful higher education ecosystem in Indonesia.
