    Strengthening Diplomacy and Negotiation Skills: International Relations Students of FISIP UNIKOM Simulate a United Nations Security Council Session on the Complexity of the Ukrainian Conflict

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM — On Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the International Relations Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), once again held a Short Diplomatic Course (SDC) and International Session Simulation under the theme “United Nations Security Council Meets on Ukraine.” Held at the Miracle Auditorium on the 4th floor of UNIKOM Campus I, the activity featured a live simulation of a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) session in an academic setting. During the activity, students had the opportunity to apply their knowledge of international relations while honing their diplomacy, negotiation, communication, argumentation, and decision-making skills in a multilateral forum.

    In her report, the Chairperson of the Executive Committee and Professor of FISIP UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. Hj. Aelina Surya, Dra., stated that the activity involved 96 participants, including 40 sixth-semester students, with others participating in supporting roles. The program was designed to provide students with experience in internationalization from both theoretical and practical perspectives, while also introducing them directly to the dynamics of international conferences. “The goal of this program is to provide students with experience in internationalization in theory and practice, as well as to provide an understanding of how international conferences are conducted,” said Prof. Aelina.

    Furthermore, Prof. Aelina expressed her hope that this activity could be developed into a systematic and sustainable program to improve student competencies, particularly English language skills in academic and international relations contexts. She also expressed her appreciation to the Dean of FISIP UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. Hj. Dewi Kurniasih, S.IP., M.Si., the Head of the International Relations Study Program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dewi Triwahyuni, S.IP., M.Si., the students, and all parties who contributed to the success of the activity.

    Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dewi Triwahyuni, S.IP., M.Si., encouraged participants to view the simulation not merely as an academic activity, but also as an opportunity to gain firsthand experience of the complexity of decision-making processes in international politics and security. “The world is waiting for a decision. The war continues, the public is watching, governments are paying attention, and today you will play the role of decision-makers in the Security Council,” she explained.

    Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dewi also explained that the Ukraine issue, which served as the theme of the simulation, provides a concrete illustration of the complexity of international security issues. “The situation in Ukraine reminds us of a fundamental truth in international relations: security is easy to talk about in theory, but very difficult to implement,” she said. She explained that when international conflicts occur, people often question why a war cannot be stopped immediately, why the Security Council does not quickly reach an agreement, or why diplomatic processes sometimes proceed slowly. Through this simulation, students are expected to understand that international politics cannot be viewed from a single perspective. “International politics is not just about choosing between right and wrong. It encompasses national interests, security, economic interests, international conditions, humanitarian considerations, geopolitical competition, and the distribution of power within the international system,” she emphasized.

    Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dewi emphasized that diplomacy requires the ability to understand one’s own interests while also understanding the perspectives of others. “That’s where diplomacy begins. You have to understand your own country’s position, but at the same time, you also have to understand why other countries might see the same situation differently,” she said. Finally, she expressed her hope that students would not only gain experience speaking in international forums, but also develop the ability to analyze complex issues, communicate across differences, negotiate, and find solutions when no perfect solution exists. “Being a student of international relations means more than just memorizing concepts and theories. It means learning how to analyze complexity, communicate across differences, negotiate, and find solutions in situations where perfect solutions may not exist,” she concluded.

    Following the opening ceremony, the main agenda proceeded with the roll call and delegate introductions. Students represented various UN member states, dressed in formal attire and carrying out diplomatic roles appropriate to the countries they represented. The delegates represented Argentina, Belarus, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Colombia, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kenya, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Syria, Türkiye, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Ukraine, and United States. The simulation also included the roles of Chairperson, Co-Chairperson, and Secretary-General to establish a meeting mechanism that reflected an international forum.

    The meeting then proceeded through several Committee Session stages, beginning with the Opening Committee Session, General Speaker List, Moderated Caucus, Unmoderated Caucus, and Closing Committee Session. During these sessions, delegates presented their countries’ perspectives and arguments, responded to other delegations, and engaged in negotiations to find common ground on the issues under discussion. This process is a crucial part of student learning because it combines classroom theory with diplomatic practice in a simulated setting. Students were required not only to understand the issues being discussed, but also to defend their countries’ positions, develop negotiation strategies, communicate with other delegations, and make decisions based on shared interests.

    The next activity included testimonials from observers and an awards presentation for participants. Several award categories were presented, including Best Speech, Most Outstanding Delegate, Honorable Mention, Verbal Commendation, Best Position Paper, and Most Favorite Male and Female Delegates. These award categories recognized participants’ abilities and contributions throughout the simulation. The Best Speech award was given to delegates deemed capable of delivering informative speeches with an excellent command of language and substance, while the Most Outstanding Delegate award was given to participants who demonstrated outstanding ability, preparation, knowledge of the issues, and contributions during the session.

    Meanwhile, the Honorable Mention and Verbal Commendation categories recognized participants’ diplomatic skills, active involvement, and contributions to the debate. The Best Position Paper award was presented to delegates who produced position papers containing ideas considered excellent, original, innovative, and reflective of diplomatic skills. The Most Favorite Male and Female Delegate awards were determined based on votes from observers using a form provided during the event. The entire simulation concluded with the presentation of awards and expressions of appreciation to the participants. Through this Short Diplomatic Course, the International Relations Study Program, FISIP UNIKOM, continues to encourage students to develop competencies relevant to the dynamics of international relations while preparing them for an increasingly interconnected global academic and professional environment.     International Relations Study Program UNIKOM Achieves “Excellent” Accreditation, Strengthening Its Commitment to Producing Globally Competitive Graduates

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) has once again achieved a significant milestone. Its Bachelor’s Degree (S1) Program in International Relations has successfully earned “Excellent” (Unggul) accreditation, the highest accreditation status in Indonesia’s higher education system. This achievement serves as a proof of UNIKOM’s commitment to delivering high-quality education responsive to global challenges while further strengthening its position as a Digital Entrepreneurial University.

    The “Excellent” accreditation status was awarded based on the Decree of the Executive Board of Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Sosial Politik, Administrasi, dan Komunikasi (LAMSPAK), Number 220/AK.03.05/2026, as well as Accreditation Certificate Number 220/DL.03.05/2026. Issued in Jakarta on July 28, 2026, and signed by the Chair of the LAMSPAK Executive Board, Prof. Dr. M.R. Khairul Muluk, M.Si., the decision granted the study program an accreditation score of 255. This accreditation is valid for five years, from February 4, 2026, to February 4, 2031, recognizing the program’s fulfillment of quality standards for higher education that are excellent, sustainable, and focused on continuous quality improvement.

    This achievement resulted from a comprehensive evaluation process conducted in accordance with the national higher education quality assurance framework, as stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 53 of 2023. The accreditation decision also refers to BAN-PT Regulation Number 21 of 2024 concerning the transfer of authority for Akreditasi Program Studi (APS) from Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi (BAN-PT) to Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri (LAM), as well as LAMSPAK Regulation Number 2 of 2025 concerning the stages and procedures for study program accreditation.

    Retaining the “Excellent” accreditation status demonstrates that UNIKOM’s Bachelor’s Degree Program in International Relations has successfully maintained the highest standard of accreditation while consistently upholding and enhancing the quality of its educational services. This achievement reflects professional, strategic, and sustainable program management that enables the program to produce graduates who are competent, adaptable, and competitive at both the national and international levels. Furthermore, it represents the strong synergy among university leaders, the study program, lecturers, administrative staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders in fostering a sustainable culture of quality across education, research, community service, and institutional governance in accordance with national and international standards.

    As a study program committed to continuous curriculum innovation, UNIKOM’s Bachelor’s Degree Program in International Relations provides an educational experience that responds to global developments, advances in digital technology, and the evolving demands of the workforce.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM – The Student Association (HIMA) of the Communication Studies Program Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) officially launched the Jayantaka Cabinet 2026 on Monday, June 8, 2026, through a Grand Launching & Talk Show titled “Jayantaka: New Face, New Movement 2026.” Carrying the theme “Fear of Being Wrong Leads to Silence: The Dynamics of Student Participation in the Classroom,” the event was held at the Miracle Auditorium, 4th Floor, UNIKOM Campus I. The occasion marked an important milestone in introducing the newly appointed executive board while fostering a spirit of collaboration, innovation, and active student participation within the academic community.

    The Grand Launching of the Jayantaka 2026 Cabinet marked the first step in introducing the new leadership of UNIKOM’s Communication Studies Student Association (HIMA) along with the spirit of transformation embodied by the slogan “New Face, New Movement.” This spirit is expected to foster the emergence of a student organization that is adaptive, collaborative, innovative, and capable of making tangible contributions to the development of UNIKOM Communication Studies students.

    The event was attended by the Dean of the UNIKOM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Prof. Dr. Hj. Dewi Kurniasih, S.IP., M.Si.; the Chair of the UNIKOM Communication Studies Program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manap Solihat, M.Si.; the Secretary of the Communication Studies Program, Dr. Olih Solihin, S.Sos., M.I.Kom.; the Faculty Advisor for Student Affairs, Yasundari, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom.; the Chair of the Communication Studies Student Association (HIMA), Muhammad Fadhil Hafidz Abdillah; as well as faculty members and students from UNIKOM’s Communication Studies Program.

    The series of events began with a report from the Executive Chair, Dimas Aryo Danendra, followed by remarks from the Chair of the Communication Studies Student Association (HIMA), Muhammad Fadhil Hafidz Abdillah; the Faculty Advisor for Student Affairs, Yasundari, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom.; and the Chair of the Communication Studies Program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manap Solihat, M.Si., and was officially opened by the Dean of FISIP UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. Hj. Dewi Kurniasih, S.IP., M.Si.

    In her opening remarks, the Dean of FISIP UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. Hj. Dewi Kurniasih, S.IP., M.Si., emphasized that students must have the courage to think critically, express their ideas, and actively participate in discussions while upholding academic ethics. “Silence will not bring about change. On the contrary, change can begin with students’ courage to engage in discussion, voice their opinions, and propose constructive solutions,” she said. Furthermore, Prof. Dewi emphasized that students are an integral part of the nation’s development process and, as agents of change, play a strategic role in societal life. Therefore, the Student Association is expected to serve as a platform that fosters a generation that is critical, innovative, and responsible through various programs that have a positive impact.

    At the end of her remarks, Prof. Dewi also commended the Communication Studies Student Association’s initiative in organizing an event that not only introduced the new executive board but also created a space for educational discussion. Prof. Dewi also expressed her hope that the UNIKOM Communication Studies Student Association would continue to uphold this spirit and serve as a role model for other student organizations at UNIKOM.

    On this occasion, the entire leadership structure of the Jayantaka 2026 Cabinet was officially introduced, ranging from the Middle Management and Top Management levels to the Executive Board. This moment symbolized the start of the new leadership term, which will carry out its mandate in steering the organization for the coming term. In addition to introducing the leadership structure, the HIMA Chairperson and Vice Chairperson also outlined the vision, mission, and direction of the Jayantaka 2026 Cabinet as a guide for implementing work programs focused on organizational development and student empowerment.

    Moving on to the next session, the event continued with a talk show themed “Fear of Making Mistakes Leads to Silence: The Dynamics of Student Participation in the Classroom.” The discussion featured speakers Dr. Adiyana Slamet, S.IP., M.Si., and Naufal Muhammad Abdul Rahim, moderated by Muhammad Yauma Akbar. The talk show served as an open and inspiring forum to discuss the challenges students face in finding the courage to express their ideas, actively participate in the classroom, and foster a communicative and inclusive academic culture.

    During the discussion forum, participants were encouraged to understand the importance of building self-confidence, thinking critically, and fostering healthy two-way communication between students and faculty. This event is expected to promote a more active, transparent, collaborative, and solution-oriented learning environment, thereby continuing to increase student participation in the academic process.

    Through the Grand Launching & Talk Show titled “Jayantaka: New Face, New Movement 2026,” the UNIKOM Communication Studies Student Association (HIMA) reaffirmed its commitment to becoming a student organization that is not only active in implementing its work programs but also capable of fostering spaces for collaboration, capacity building, and strengthening a participatory academic culture.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Thursday, June 4, 2026. The Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) once again demonstrates its commitment to strengthening global academic networks by hosting The 9th International Conference on Business, Economics, Social Sciences & Humanities (ICOBEST) 2026, held at the 17th-floor Auditorium of the UNIKOM Smart Building. The event serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas, research findings, and the strengthening of international collaboration in the fields of business, economics, social sciences, and the humanities. ICOBEST 2026 was attended by academics, researchers, practitioners, and students from various countries and UNIKOM’s partner institutions, who participated both in-person and online from various nations and institutions.

    The Director of International Program UNIKOM and Chair of the ICOBEST 2026 Organizing Committee, Dr. Senny Luckyardi, S.P., M.M., stated in his opening remarks that ICOBEST is one of the annual international conferences organized by UNIKOM as part of its regular annual international conference series. According to him, preparations for hosting ICOBEST 2026 began a year prior, encompassing the selection of a publisher, the invitation of keynote speakers, and various other technical preparations. Dr. Senny also explained that the conference aims to enhance scientific publications, foster a spirit of research, and expand international collaboration. “This year, ICOBEST features keynote speakers from various countries, including South Africa, Croatia, Romania, and Indonesia. One of the speakers is from the University of Johannesburg, which is recognized as one of the world’s leading universities”, she stated.

    Furthermore, Dr. Senny emphasized that this event has a positive impact on higher education institutions, particularly UNIKOM, as it serves as a platform for academics, industry partners, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and government representatives to share knowledge and research findings that can be implemented in the industrial sector. He also explained that the theme “Sustainability” was chosen because it is a global issue highly relevant to the various challenges faced by society today, and it is hoped that it will provide tangible contributions through the research findings presented at the conference.

    Furthermore, the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. Hj. Dewi Kurniasih, S.IP., M.Si., in her opening remarks, expressed gratitude and honor for the holding of ICOBEST 2026. Prof. Dewi emphasized that this conference serves as a vital academic forum for addressing various global challenges through the promotion of innovation, the enhancement of well-being, and inclusive development.     Meanwhile, during an interview, the Rector of UNIKOM, Prof. 3 Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T., stated that 2026 marks the 9th iteration of ICOBEST. Prof. Eddy expressed his pride and appreciation for the successful hosting of the conference, which brought together academics, researchers, and university representatives from various countries. In his view, the presence of international keynote speakers serves as a crucial added value in driving the advancement of science and technology. Prof. Eddy hopes that ICOBEST will continue to serve as a strategic platform for faculty members and students to conduct scientific research, publish academic works, and expand global collaboration networks. “Through this conference, the research findings presented are expected to make a positive contribution to enhancing academic quality, advancing scientific knowledge, and fostering broader societal progress,” concluded Prof. Eddy.

    The event then continued with a plenary session of the conference, moderated by Ms. Abigail Van Stryker, M.A., from Australia, and featuring a number of keynote speakers from various world-renowned universities. Speakers present in person included Assoc. Prof. Florian Andrei Vlad from Ovidius University of Constanta, Romania; Prof. dr. sc. Nebojša Stojčić from the University of Dubrovnik, Croatia; and Andrias Darmayadi, Ph.D., from UNIKOM. The three presented various studies and perspectives on the development of science, economics, and society, as well as the global dynamics currently influencing the international community. Additionally, the plenary session featured international speakers via video conference: Assoc. Prof. Oana-Celia Gheorghiu, Ph.D., from the University of Galați, Romania, and Prof. Daniel Meyer from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. The presence of these academics further enriched the scientific discussion and broadened participants’ perspectives on various global issues and developments in the fields of business, economics, social sciences, and the humanities.

    Following the presentation of materials and discussions with the keynote speakers, the event continued with a Q&A session, providing participants the opportunity to engage in direct dialogue with the speakers. The participants’ enthusiasm was evident through the various questions and responses shared during the scientific discussion session. The event then proceeded with parallel sessions, serving as a platform for researchers to present their research findings within their respective academic fields.

    Through the ICOBEST 2026 event, UNIKOM reaffirmed its role as a university actively promoting the internationalization of higher education and the development of a research-based academic culture.     Students of the Communication Science Study Program Visit Pikiran Rakyat Media Industry: Exploring Digital Media Transformation

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Familiarizing students with the media industry is importance, especially for Communication Science students, as this sector is evolving dynamically alongside the acceleration of digitalization, platform convergence, and changes in audience behavior. On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, students from the Communication Studies Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) conducted an academic visit to the Pikiran Rakyat Daily Office located at Jalan Asia Afrika No. 77, Bandung. The activity was attended by seventh-semester students enrolled in the Media Management and Crisis and Public Relations Strategy courses, as part of the implementation of industry-based learning.

    The visit was a strategic step in bridging theoretical understanding in the classroom with the actual dynamics of the media industry, particularly in facing the ongoing digital transformation. The group of students was welcomed directly by the PR FM Marketing Communication (Marcom) team, Aris Hermansyah, Editor of Pikiran Rakyat Media Network (PRMN), Rahmi Nurfajriani, and the PRMN Editorial Secretariat, Lusi Nurhayati.

    During the meeting, students received a comprehensive presentation on the organizational structure, editorial workflow, news production process, and corporate strategies in maintaining credibility and media business sustainability amid changes in public information consumption patterns. The participants’ enthusiasm was evident in the many questions asked by the students, with the phenomena of platform transformation, digital integration, and strengthening institutional reputation becoming the main focus of the interactive discussion. At the end of the activity, students were invited to tour the company to see directly the editorial activities of PR, PRMN, and PRFM radio.

    The head of the activity, Muflih Fadil Mahdi, said that the experience gained from the activity provided a contextual understanding of media company management practices. According to him, direct interaction with practitioners opened up new perspectives on the operational complexity of media companies and the application of communication strategies in crisis situations.

    Meanwhile, the lecturer in charge of the course, Dr. Ir. Yuni Mogot, M.Si., CPR., revealed that industrial visits are an integral part of the OBE-based curriculum designed to strengthen student competencies. “In addition to broadening students’ knowledge of media company management, this activity is expected to improve students’ analytical and adaptive capacities in understanding media management integration and communication strategies that are responsive to challenges in the digital era,” she said.

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – On Monday, January 12, 2026, the International Relations Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), held an international panel lecture, “Beyond Diplomacy: Language, Culture, and Social Impact in International Relations,” attended by International Relations students. Held on the 4th floor of the Miracle Auditorium, the event brought together international experts to examine the dynamics and transformations of modern diplomatic practices.

    In her remarks, the Head of the International Relations Study Program, Dr. Dewi Triwahyuni, S.IP., M.Sc., emphasized the relevance of the event’s theme to contemporary global developments. She explained that today’s diplomacy is no longer limited to formal channels between countries but is increasingly influenced by human relations, cross-cultural understanding, and social impact. “International Relations students need to understand that modern diplomacy goes beyond formal negotiations. Today’s global interactions place language, culture, and social responsibility as key elements in building trust and sustainable international cooperation,” she explained.

    She added that the activity was part of the study program’s strategic efforts to strengthen academic quality and support UNIKOM’s vision as a globally oriented university through international dialogue and collaboration.

    Furthermore, the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hj. Dewi Kurniasih, S.IP., M.Si., expressed her appreciation for the organization of this international-scale academic forum. She emphasized the importance of mastering global and multidisciplinary insights for students to prepare them for the challenges of international relations in the future. “I am proud and happy to welcome all participants to this panel lecture. Through this activity, students are expected to gain comprehensive knowledge and a global perspective directly from expert speakers,” she concluded.

    The panel lecture was divided into three main sessions featuring international speakers. The first session featured Abigail Van Stryke (Australia Aid Volunteer from AH&B College, Sydney), moderated by Andrias Darmayadi, S.IP, M.Si, Ph.D. (International Relations lecturer). The second session featured Prof. Debbie Plath (Australia Aid Volunteer from the Ikon Institute of Australia), moderated by Sylvia Octa Putri, S.IP., M.I.Pol. The third session featured Erika Matano (Junior Expert from the Japan International Cooperation Agency), moderated by Dr. Henike Primawanti, S.IP., M.I.Pol.

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM — On Monday, December 8, 2025, the Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), held a guest lecture themed “Communication About Mental Health” at the Miracle Auditorium, 4th Floor, UNIKOM Campus I, featuring international academic speaker and Australian social and mental health expert Prof. Debbie Plath.

    This event was a collaboration between the Communication Science and the Directorate of International Programs of UNIKOM, supported by Australian Volunteers and Australian Aid. This collaboration opened global learning opportunities for students while strengthening international academic networks on issues of mental health and professional communication. 

    In this lecture, Prof. Debbie Plath, known as a professor of social work and head of school (human services) at the Ikon Institute of Australia and a lecturer at Newcastle University, presented various crucial issues regarding mental health that are relevant to the world of communication. She explained the latest understanding of mental health and its disorders, global prevalence, and how effective communication can play an important role in supporting the recovery of individuals facing psychological pressure.

    Prof. Plath also highlighted how the development of digital technology has had a dual impact on mental health. In addition to causing stress and sleep disorders when used excessively, digital technology also presents opportunities in the provision of telehealth-based mental health services and various psychological well-being support applications. Furthermore, she emphasized the importance of balancing the digital world with physical activity in open spaces, which has been proven to have a positive effect on mood and emotional health.

    The public lecture became even more interesting when Prof. Plath presented a case study of Lifeline Australia, a national service that focuses on suicide prevention through supportive communication and appropriate intervention. Through this presentation, students were invited to understand how communication practices can save lives, as well as the principles of non-discriminatory and empathetic communication that must be applied in various professional contexts.

    The lecture continued with an interactive discussion where students had the opportunity to ask questions, particularly regarding the role of communication in the digital age and strategies for delivering sensitive messages related to mental health, guided by a lecturer from the Communication Science, Tine Agustin Wulandari, M.I.Kom, as the moderator.

    Through this guest lecture, UNIKOM reaffirmed its commitment to build an academic environment that is responsive to global issues while equipping students with research-based insights and practical experience.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM  — In facing the ever-evolving digital era, the creative industry in the field of digital media has become one of the fastest growing and most influential sectors. By understanding all these aspects, students and the younger generation can manage social media professionally, not only producing interesting content, but also content that is educational, positively influential, and sustainable. To that end, the Communication Studies Program collaborated with Promedia Teknologi Indonesia (PTI) to organize a Content Creator Laboratory (CORELAB) Seminar entitled “Learn and Discover Together How the Future of the Media Industry Can Be Sustainable” on Monday, November 3, 2025.

    The event, held at the Miracle Auditorium on the 4th floor of UNIKOM Campus I, served as an inspirational space for students to understand the dynamics of the modern media industry and hone their skills in managing digital media and becoming professional content creators, especially for fifth-semester students of the UNIKOM Communication Studies Program.

    The Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNIKOM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dewi, in her opening remarks said that this activity was a core subject for the UNIKOM Communication Science Study Program because it was very relevant to the field of communication science and could be developed through further collaboration in various other forms of activities. Furthermore, she expressed her gratitude to Promedia Teknologi Indonesia (PTI) for the collaboration and hoped that in the future, more UNIKOM alumni would be able to contribute and be absorbed into the industry. Also attending the seminar were the Head of the Communication Science Study Program, Dr. Manap Solihat, M.Si., the Head of the Master of Communication Science Study Program, Dr. Desayu Eka Surya, S.Sos., M.Si., CICS., Director of Public Relations and Protocol at UNIKOM, Dr. Ir. Yuni Mogot, M.Si., CPR., as well as lecturers from the Communication Studies Program at FISIP UNIKOM.

    The Chief Executive, Andika Noer Fiqri Romadoni, expressed his appreciation for the support from various parties who contributed to the success of the event.  “Through this seminar, the Communication Studies Program at FISIP UNIKOM, through the Department of Cooperation and Industry, collaborated with Promedia Teknologi Indonesia in organizing the CORELAB program. We hope that this activity can help students not only understand communication theory but also prepare them to enter the creative industry with relevant digital skills,” he said.

    The CEO of Promedia Teknologi Indonesia (PTI), Agus Sulistriyono, explained in his speech that CORELAB is an important space for students to understand the dynamics of digital media from a professional industry perspective. He also emphasized the fundamental difference between a journalist and a content creator today.

    Three competent speakers were presented at the seminar, namely: 1). Agus Sulistriyono, CEO of Promedia Teknologi Indonesia (PTI), with the topic “Media Landscape and Content Creator Trends.” In his presentation, he explained the importance of understanding changes in media consumption patterns and strategies for building authentic personal branding in the digital space. 2). Agil Hari, Media Network Promedia Teknologi Indonesia, presented the topic “SEO-Friendly Article Writing.” He emphasized the need to write content that is both informative and search engine friendly so that the message can be conveyed more widely. 3). Dr. Olih Solihin, M.I.Kom., Lecturer in Communication Science at UNIKOM, with the topic “Building a New Media Universe that is Ethical, Innovative, and Sustainable.” He highlighted the importance of ethical responsibility in digital communication practices.

    Through this collaboration, UNIKOM and PTI reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening the role of higher education institutions in developing adaptive, creative, and ethical human resources amid the rapid development of the digital media industry. (Directorate of Hms & Pro)

    UNIKOM Welcomes a Visit from UPNVJ, Building Synergy in Global Education and Culture

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – On Saturday, October 11, 2025, Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) welcomed a visit from Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta. The visit was welcomed directly by the Director of International Affairs & Cooperation UNIKOM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Inta Budi Setya Nusa, S.E., M.Ak., along with his team. The UPNVJ delegation included the Head of the International Affairs Office (KUI) of UPNVJ, accompanied by two KUI staff members, two faculty advisors, and 17 students, consisting of seven UPNVJ students and ten international students currently studying at UPNVJ. This visit also aimed to serve as a platform for academic dialogue and cultural exchange between students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at UPNVJ and UNIKOM students.

    During the visit, UPNVJ students also had the opportunity to see UNIKOM’s excellent facilities, including the UTV studio, which is a center for creative content and digital media development, and the Animation Division, which is known for its innovative and collaborative works in the creative industry.

    Assoc. Prof. Dr. Inta Budi said that the visit was a follow-up to the previous collaboration between UNIKOM and UPNVJ. “This is the second visit as a form of continued collaboration between the two universities. On this occasion, we scheduled a discussion session between the International Relations Study Program of UNIKOM and the foreign and regular students from UPNVJ. This activity is part of a mobility activity that aims to broaden students’ knowledge and experience, especially in exchanging ideas and building cross-cultural academic networks,” he said.

    The main agenda of the visit continued with an interactive talk show featuring student representatives from the Governance Science, Communication Science, and International Relations Study Programs at UPNVJ as well as FISIP UNIKOM students.

    During the session, participants discussed the role of students in research collaboration, cultural diplomacy, and global contributions in the digital era. The visit also served as an academic networking event between UNIKOM students and UPNVJ foreign students from various countries. The participants exchanged views on the education system, their study experiences in Indonesia, and opportunities for collaborative research in the future. The atmosphere was warm and interactive, reflecting the spirit of “Global Friendship through Education,” which is the spirit of both universities. 

    On this occasion, Masitado, a regular student from Indonesia, and Majidali from Pakistan, who is a foreign student at UPNVJ, also shared their impressions and messages after touring the UNIKOM campus. Both said that the visit was their first time and left a deep impression on them. They were impressed by UNIKOM’s comprehensive and modern facilities and infrastructure, and felt that the academic atmosphere was different and inspiring, especially in the field of digital media. For both of them, the visit was a valuable experience that broadened their knowledge and motivated them to pursue their studies in Indonesia.

    Through this activity, both universities hope to strengthen the relationship between higher education institutions and contribute to creating an open, inclusive, and globally competitive higher education ecosystem. (Directorate of Hms & Pro)

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Communication Science Study Program of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) held a National Seminar with the theme “Building A Sustainable Media Industry Among Business, Ethics, and Innovation.” The event was held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at UNIKOM Miracle Auditorium. This seminar presented media experts and practitioners as speakers, including H. Januar P. Ruswita, Prof. Dr. Septiawan Santana Kurnia, S.Sos., M.Si., and Satrya Graha.

    The seminar was opened with remarks from the Head of the UNIKOM Communication Science Study Program, Dr. Manap Solihat, M.Si., who said that “this public lecture was filled by speakers from senior media practitioners, because this is an important issue related to changes and new paradigms in constructing the media, especially in Gen Z. It is expected that with this activity, students will have sufficient understanding so that when they later have a career in the field of communication science, they already know what steps to take,” he said. 

    In this seminar, three expert speakers in the field of media and communication provided in-depth insights related to the development of the media industry in the digital era. The first speaker, H. Januar P. Ruswita, presented the topic “Maintaining and Developing the Media Industry in the Digital 5.0 Era,” where he emphasized the importance of innovation in the face of rapid technological change. Followed by a presentation from Prof. Dr. Septiawan Santana Kurnia, S.Sos., M.Si., who discussed “Implementation of Current and Future Media Industry Policies,” focusing on regulations and challenges faced by the media industry.
    Meanwhile, the third speaker, Satrya Graha, presented the theme “Developing a Unique and Creative Content Strategy,” which provided insight into strategies for creating interesting content in the digital era. After the session, participants were given the opportunity to interact directly with the speakers in a question and answer session that lasted for 30 minutes. The seminar was then closed by handing over certificates and souvenirs to the speakers and completed with a documentation session. By organizing the seminar, UNIKOM has shown and made a real contribution to the development of communication science and equipped students with relevant insights in the current digital era.
