    Abstract

    This study explored the role of computer science in advancing sustainable infrastructure in Indonesia, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As the country grapples with rapid urbanization, environmental challenges, and disaster resilience, emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), and blockchain present innovative solutions. This research examined the studies using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) from the past five years that focus on the application of computer science in sustainable infrastructure development in Indonesia. The study highlights contributions that align with the UN SDGs through a structured process of identifying, evaluating, and synthesizing relevant findings. Key findings reveal the potential of AI-powered smart grids, IoT-based environmental monitoring, and predictive analytics for disaster management. However, challenges such as infrastructure disparities, cybersecurity risks, and regulatory gaps remain significant barriers to adoption. The study emphasizes the need for more significant investment, stronger policies, and cross-sector collaboration to accelerate technology integration. By merging computer science with sustainability strategies, Indonesia can enhance infrastructure resilience, drive economic growth, and strengthen environmental protection.     .BANDUNG, UNIKOM — On Saturday, January 10, 2025, the Visual Communication Design (DKV) Study Program, Faculty of Design, Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), held a seminar entitled “Creative Talk: Creativity in the Algorithmic Era and Appearing Confident” as part of briefings for students working on their final projects, thesis, and internship for the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, which was attended by the Head of the DKV Study Program, DKV lecturers, DKV students who are taking Final Project and Internship, the academic community of UNIKOM, and the general public. The event was designed to address the challenges of the creative profession, which are increasingly shaped by digital technology, algorithmic systems, and the demand for strong personal communication.

    The Coordinator of the DKV Final Project at UNIKOM, Deni Albar, M.Ds., stated that algorithms and social media have shaped a new lifestyle that is inseparable from students’ daily lives. However, he emphasized that creativity and self-confidence are two human qualities that cannot be replicated by machines. “We live in two worlds, the real world and the digital world. Algorithms determine distribution, but creativity and confidence are the main assets that enable us to remain empowered, influential, and relevant,” he said. Furthermore, he hoped that the Creative Discussion would become a space for sharing that would broaden the horizons of students across academic statuses in facing academic and professional challenges.

    On this occasion, the Head of the DKV Study Program, Dr. Kankan Kasmana, M.Ds., representing the Dean of the Faculty of Design, expressed his gratitude to all lecturers involved in the event. He also emphasized the importance of students’ professional performance, both during their practical work and in the process of final project and thesis guidance. Dr. Kankan also encouraged students to build a positive impression, discipline, and mental preparedness as part of shaping the character of professional designers.

    The event continued with the first presentation delivered by Creative Director Jamise Syari and DKV alumnus Deddy Kurniawan, M.Ds. In his presentation, Deddy explained that algorithms are not the enemy of creativity but rather a distribution system that works based on human behavior and interests, as well as the creativity of algorithms in life values.

    Meanwhile, the second material was delivered by Aldi Salman, public speaking trainer and founder of the Panggung Kreator Community. In this session, Aldi emphasized that the ability to speak and perform confidently is a strategic competency, especially for DKV students who must present ideas, concepts, and visual works in various academic and professional forums, and how to develop a public speaking mindset.

    The seminar closed with an interactive Q&A session, moderated by Ahmad Nurzaeni Fauzi, M.Ds., followed by an appreciation ceremony for the best participants and a group photo with all speakers and participants.

    Through the Creative Discussion activity, DKV UNIKOM reaffirmed its commitment to producing graduates who are not only technically and visually excellent but also strategic, communicative, adaptable to technology, and confident in conveying ideas.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM — The Directorate Library of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) continues to strengthen its role in developing a culture of research and academic publication by holding a Writing Training session on Friday, January 9, 2025, at the Library Meeting Room on the 8th floor of the Smart Building UNIKOM.

    Prof. Debbie Plath, a Professor of Social Work from Australian Catholic University and ICON Institute, Australia, was invited as the main speaker for the training, which was attended by the Director of the UNIKOM Library, Ubudiyah Setiawati, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., along with all librarians and library service managers. The training focused on strengthening the capacity of librarians in supporting scientific writing, managing academic databases, and collaboration strategies between librarians and researchers to improve the quality and quantity of scientific publications.

    In an interview, Prof. Debbie Plath explained that the main objective of the training at UNIKOM was to build a common understanding of the strategic role of librarians in the research and publication ecosystem. “I met with librarians at UNIKOM to understand their role here and share my experience working with librarians in supporting research and publication in Australia. Based on my experience, librarians have very systematic abilities and high expertise in information systems and access to scientific journals, which are very valuable in developing research projects and preparing publications,” she said.

    Prof. Debbie also emphasized that collaboration between librarians and researchers is an important factor in improving the quality of institutional research. Through several follow-up sessions, she hopes that UNIKOM librarians can further develop their roles strategically. “We will explore various ways for librarians to improve and develop their roles at UNIKOM. In the long term, this is expected to improve UNIKOM institutional research and publication profile,” she concluded.

    Meanwhile, the Director of the UNIKOM Library, Ubudiyah Setiawati, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., said that the training provided benefits in encouraging the transformation of the role of librarians. She stated that librarians not only function as information managers, but also as active writers and mentors for writers and researchers.

    In addition, she emphasized that the utilization of abundant digital resources must be accompanied by professional exploration and mentoring skills. After participating in this activity, it is expected that the UNIKOM librarians contributing to scientific publications will continue to increase, while also opening up opportunities for cross-unit collaboration, including with international networks.

    Through this writing training, the Directorate of the UNIKOM Library reaffirmed its commitment as a center for strengthening academic literacy, research, and scientific publications, in line with efforts to enhance UNIKOM academic reputation at the national and international levels.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM — The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) continues to strengthen the implementation of the AI for Business Curriculum through the Sandboxing Workshop: Prototyping Business Ideas with AI. The event was held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, on the 10th floor of the Smart Building UNIKOM and was attended by the academic community within FEB UNIKOM who are directly involved in the AI Sandboxing ecosystem. The workshop was designed as a structured practice space to bridge the concept of learning with real experiments and implementation.

    Also present at the event were the Heads of Study Programs at FEB UNIKOM, Sandbox AI lecturers and instructors, and Sandbox AI for Business student participants. The presence of these various roles reflects a strong academic synergy in building a practice- and innovation-based learning ecosystem.

    The coordinator of Sandboxing AI for Business Curriculum of FEB UNIKOM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Isniar Budiarti, S.E., M.Si., in her opening remarks stated that the sandboxing approach allows lecturers and students to develop prototypes of artificial intelligence-based business ideas in a systematic, applicable, and contextual manner in line with the needs of the business world.

    Meanwhile, Dean of FEB UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. Siti Kurnia Rahayu, S.E., M. Ak., Ak., CA., emphasized the importance of consistency in overseeing the implementation of the AI for Business Curriculum so that it does not stop at the conceptual level. She stated that sandboxing is a strategic instrument to ensure that the integration of AI in learning, research, and community service runs focused and collaborative and produces a real impact on the development of graduate competencies.

    Deputy Vice Rector IV, Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D., along with his team, was presented as the main speaker, where participants received direct guidance in the process of designing AI-based business idea prototypes, including problem formulation, solution exploration, and initial prototype development. The material was delivered applicably, emphasizing the relevance of artificial intelligence in contemporary business and entrepreneurship.

    In the tutorial session, participants were guided to develop prototypes in stages using Gemini AI. The process began with strengthening human critical thinking through problem definition, identification of target users, and analysis of market needs. Next, Gemini AI is used to refine the value proposition, including formulating key benefits, competitive advantages, and the rationale for choosing a solution. In addition, participants are also trained to develop targeted prompts to map alternative ideas, assess the feasibility of innovations based on trends and previous studies, and formulate key solution elements such as core features, usage scenarios, and data requirements. In the final stage, Gemini was used to help visualize ideas through initial mockup designs, simple user flows, and brief narratives explaining the prototype’s working mechanisms. Through these stages, participants not only generated business ideas but also took home initial prototype designs that were logical, tested, and ready for further development in the Sandboxing AI for Business ecosystem.

    Through this workshop, FEB UNIKOM reaffirms its commitment to providing economics and business education responsive to technological developments, while also encouraging the emergence of innovative business ideas that are oriented towards the responsible and sustainable use of artificial intelligence.     The 2026 New Student Admissions of UNIKOM Officially Open, Targeting 3,500 Students with a Digital and Inclusive System

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) has officially opened its Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru (PMB), New Student Admissions, for the 2026 Academic Year with various strategic breakthroughs that affirm its position as a leading technology-based university. Unlike previous years, 2026 PMB has now opened earlier, starting on December 1, 2025, to accelerate services and improve the quality of the student selection process. 

    In an interview, Director of PMB of UNIKOM, Yudistira Soegoto, S.Kom., M.Kom., stated that UNIKOM is in an optimal state of readiness. The entire PMB process is supported by an integrated digital system that operates online, openly, fairly, and accountably. “For 2026, we are targeting to gain 3,000 to 3,500 new students. In terms of systems and services, UNIKOM is 100% ready, and PMB is already ongoing,” he said. 

    The earlier opening of PMB is a significant difference compared to previous years, which generally began in January or February. In addition to accelerating the timing, UNIKOM has also expanded access by providing various scholarships aimed at attracting potential students from diverse backgrounds. 

    Not only targeting new graduates in 2026, UNIKOM PMB is also open to graduates from previous years, including professionals who have worked but have not completed their undergraduate education, as well as bachelor’s degree graduates who wish to continue to master’s and doctoral levels. This approach reflects UNIKOM’s commitment to embracing all segments of society without age restrictions or graduation year gaps. 

    In terms of service innovation, UNIKOM continues to improve its registration system to make it more accessible and user-friendly, including for prospective students with disabilities. The PMB system is equipped with clear usage guidelines and support features for applicants with special needs. 

    The entire Ujian Saringan Masuk (USM), or Entrance Exam, process is conducted online, from registration and testing to the announcement of results. This flexibility allows prospective UNIKOM students from various regions, especially in West Java, throughout Indonesia, and even abroad, to participate in the selection process without having to come directly to the campus. 

    As a campus that has achieved excellent accreditation, UNIKOM continues to strengthen its academic competitiveness through a technology-based curriculum. One of UNIKOM’s main strengths is the implementation of compulsory cross-study program courses, including software, hardware, entrepreneurship, animation, and the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses that are being prepared for implementation at all levels of education at UNIKOM, from Diploma (D3) to Doctoral (S3) programs. 

    Yudistira also stated, “We see AI as an unavoidable future necessity. Therefore, UNIKOM is preparing students to face global challenges through mastery of cutting-edge technology.”

    Welcoming 2026, KPM of UNIKOM participates in Mentoring and evaluation to Strengthen Professionalism

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Entering the beginning of 2026, with a high spirit of professionalism, the Protocol Division of the Directorate of Public Relations and Protocol of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) held a coaching and evaluation meeting for Korps Protokoler Mahasiswa (KPM), the Student Protocol Corps, UNIKOM. The activity was held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, aiming to strengthen service standards, improving discipline, and optimizing organizational performance in supporting various formal events on campus.

    Held in room L.030, Smart Building UNIKOM, the meeting was a crucial moment for all members to reflect deeply on their performance in the previous period, as well as to formulate strategic steps in facing increasingly dynamic protocol challenges in the future.

    The meeting was attended by the active board members of Ambarrukmo Cabinet and new members, Sarvajaya Cabinet. The presence of all members was part of the process of introducing the organizational culture and initial briefing (onboarding) on ethics, etiquette, ceremonial procedures, and respect before directly participating in official university duties.

    During an interview, the Head of the Protocol Division of UNIKOM, Agung Nugraha, S.I.Kom., emphasized the importance of synergy and improving the quality of each protocol personnel. “Through these training and evaluation activities, I hope that the Student Protocol Corps can continue to improve its professionalism, discipline, and comprehensive understanding of the duties and functions of protocol. The momentum of welcoming the New Year 2026 is the right time to strengthen our shared commitment to providing the best service for every official activity at UNIKOM. As a follow-up step, going forward, we will routinely hold Coordination Meetings once a month to ensure that the synergy and performance quality of members are consistently maintained,” said Agung.

    Meanwhile, the Leader of the KPM for the 2024-2025 period, Muhamad Pradipta Waskitha, expressed his deep appreciation to all administrators and members for their dedication during the last period. “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all my colleagues who have contributed extraordinarily and with full dedication, making KPM under the Ambarrukmo Cabinet even more solid and showing performance that is increasingly promising. Through this evaluation, I hope that all achievements and shortcomings can serve as important notes and stepping stones to improve the quality and professionalism of our protocol in the future,” he concluded.

    During the evaluation session, the effectiveness of communication between members and the mastery of information technology in supporting modern protocol workflows were also discussed. This evaluation refers to the success of a number of major programs in the previous period that were carried out solemnly, including the welcoming of various delegations at the regional, national, and international levels, which always received high appreciation. This success is expected to motivate new members to maintain the professional standards of UNIKOM protocol as a technology-based campus.

    Through this guidance, it is expected that the Student Protocol Corps will become more solid, responsive, and professional. Additionally, KPM UNIKOM is increasingly prepared to contribute optimally to the success of ceremonial events for various academic activities at the university, national, and international levels, which have been scheduled in the 2026 academic calendar.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM – The issue of waste has become a major problem that continues to threaten environmental sustainability in Bandung. In response, the Bandung City Government, in collaboration with Region IV of the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI), launched the Waste Management Program as a concrete effort to address this issue. The program, involving 99 private universities in Bandung, aims to make a significant contribution to waste management by prioritizing collaboration between academics, government, and the community.

    As part of this initiative, the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) Bandung participated in this major mission. This program is a form of UNIKOM’s dedication to the community, in accordance with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which includes teaching, research, and community service. The program ran for a full month, starting in late 2024. 

    UNIKOM Bandung was given the responsibility to handle waste in an area located on Jalan Ir. H. Djuanda, specifically in RT 05 RW 09, Dago Village, Coblong District, Bandung City. This village has a fairly dense population, divided into 13 neighborhood groups, making it an area that presents significant challenges in waste management.

    Field Supervisor Lecturer, Assoc Prof. Dr. Hidayat S.Kom., M.T when interviewed said “I feel proud to be able to accompany UNIKOM students in the waste sorting socialization activity in Dago Village, Bandung City. This activity held by the Region IV of Higher Education Service Institution is a real proof of the students’ contribution in educating the community to support better and more sustainable waste management.” He said

    Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hidayat further stated, “The residents’ active participation in this activity demonstrates their concern for environmental cleanliness. I hope this program can continue and inspire students and the community to work together to create Bandung as a clean and environmentally friendly city.” He concluded. 

    UNIKOM Student Affairs Director Andreas Darmayadi, S.IP., M.Sc., Ph.D. when asked for information said “Alhamdulillah, the Bandung City Waste Management Group from UNIKOM was able to complete all the tasks and mandates from LLDIKTI Region IV. I really appreciate the performance of all Team Members and PIC Lecturers who consistently and enthusiastically help with waste management in neighborhood groups (RT/RW) around the Unikom Campus. We know that Bandung City is currently experiencing a waste emergency situation, hopefully with the contribution of the UNIKOM Waste Management Team, it can help raise public awareness to sort and manage waste properly and wisely.” he said

    The solutions and assistance provided by Unikom include: 1. Community training and education, ensuring all activities run according to plan and acting as a communicator between students and the Environmental Management Team (DPL). 2. Improved sorting facilities, divided into two categories: organic waste processed into compost, inorganic waste sorted and sold to recycling collectors, and residual waste made into crafts. 3. Awareness Campaign, with 80% of the public’s awareness of the importance of waste sorting significantly increasing. 4. Collaboration with Related Parties.

    This program is expected to encourage all elements of society to work together to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM – King Sejong Institute Bandung 1, located at UNIKOM, held a graduation ceremony for its second semester (11th semester) Korean language class in 2024. The ceremony was attended by 42 of the 134 students who graduated from various class levels in December 2024.

    The event was also attended by the Advisor of the Science and Technology Foundation, Mrs. Hj. Dra. Ani Astuti, S.E. The event was opened with remarks from Mr. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Inta Budi Setya Nusa, SE., M.Ak. as the Directorate of International Affairs & Cooperation of UNIKOM. Several invited guests who were also present included the Director of the International Program, Mrs. Dr. Senny Luckyardi, S.P., M.M., the International Affairs & Cooperation Team, Mr. Dr. Salmon Priaji Martana, S.T., M.T. & Mrs. Dr. Henike Primawanti, M.I.Pol. Several native Korean teachers who were present included Ms. Kim Nayeon, Ms. Kim Hanna, Ms. Kim Hye in, and Ms. Ha Bok Eum. 

    The event continued with several exciting games, such as guessing K-POP music videos, guessing Indonesian songs based on lyrics read by a native teacher, and playing Jegichagi (a traditional Korean game). The highlight of the event was the distribution of graduation certificates, with students coming up on stage to receive their certificates and have their photos taken. The event closed with the announcement of the game winners and door prize winners.

    Assoc. Prof. Dr. Inta Budi Setya Nusa, SE., M.Ak., said, “The lively graduation ceremony of KSI Bandung 1 was certainly a very memorable moment for all participants. This event was not only a celebration of achievements, but also a place for a ‘reunion’ for several classes that were held online.”

    Overall, this graduation ceremony not only marks the end of a learning journey, but also serves as a stepping stone to new challenges, both professionally and personally. This atmosphere will undoubtedly motivate participants to continue developing their Korean language skills.

    We hope that the Korean language skills acquired by all graduates will open many opportunities, both in education and employment, or in enriching cultural knowledge. We hope they can continue to develop their Korean language skills, using them as a tool to build broader relationships with people from around the world, especially South Korea, and deepen their understanding of Korea’s rich and fascinating culture.

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of UNIKOM held a seminar entitled “Politics, Women, and Their Empowerment” on Saturday (December 28, 2024) at the Miracle Auditorium, 4th Floor. More or less 200 participants, from students to the general public, attended. 

    The Chief Executive, Tine Agustin Wulandari, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom, in her report, stated that the workshop was a collaboration between the Study Programs at FISIP UNIKOM and was initiated by the Dean of FISIP UNIKOM. This seminar aims to open a discussion space regarding the challenges and opportunities for women in politics, as well as how we can strengthen women’s participation in decision-making concerning the common interest. Through this event, we hope to provide new insights for all participants regarding concrete steps that can be taken to encourage women’s empowerment in the political field,” said Tine Agustin Wulandari, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom.

    Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of UNIKOM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hj. Dewi Kurniasih, S.IP., M.Si., in her remarks, said, “This event is not only a forum for discussion on the role of women in politics, but also as part of the memorial of Mother’s Day, which falls on December 22nd, to give the highest appreciation to all mothers in Indonesia, especially the UNIKOM academic community.”

    Dewi further stated, “Mother’s Day is a crucial moment to recognize the extraordinary role of women as main drivers in family and community life. Women, especially mothers, are highly influential pillars in shaping character and building the nation. Therefore, empowering women, particularly in politics, is crucial to achieving equality and justice for all,” she said.

    Presenting very inspiring speakers including the Chairman of the Bandung Regency DPRD Commission Dr. H. Cecep Suhendar, S.Pd., M.Si. Head of Puspa Bandung Regency Dr. Yanti Lidiati, SE. MMCE. Director of Manufacture & Finance Ina Cookies Alfiandini Nur Sadrina and Ust. H. M. Ersyad Muttaqien, M.I.Kom. guided by Moderator Sylvia Octa Putri, S.IP., M.I.Pol. 

    The seminar “Politics, Women, and Their Empowerment,” organized by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at UNIKOM, successfully opened new insights into the importance of women’s roles in politics. Through in-depth discussions attended by various speakers, participants were encouraged to recognize the challenges and opportunities available to women in actively participating in the political process. One of the main highlights was how women’s empowerment is not only an issue of gender equality, but also a strategy for creating fairer and more inclusive policies for all levels of society.

    Furthermore, the event coincided with Mother’s Day, further strengthens the importance of women, especially mothers, in nation-building. Participants were encouraged to appreciate the significant contributions women make to family and community life and to support their empowerment efforts to participate in broader political decision-making. Overall, the event successfully created a space for constructive dialogue and opened up opportunities for collaboration between various parties to fight for women’s empowerment across various sectors, particularly in politics.
