  • Experimental Study Improving the Friction in the Surface of Cold Form Steel Connections Using Adhesive

Experimental Study Improving the Friction in the Surface of Cold Form Steel Connections Using Adhesive

    Author: Setiyarto Y. D

    DOI: 10.1088/1757-899X/879/1/012169

    Abstract

The purpose of this study is to test the strength of light steel joints using screws and the addition of adhesives to the surface of the joint. The addition of adhesive is done to increase the frictional force on the surface of the joint. The study was carried out experimentally by giving axial tensile strength to the specimens. The specimen is a mild steel connection made from a lip channel profile that is connected back to back with 2 screws and has 2 variables, namely adhesive and without adhesive. Each variable has 3 samples. The experimental results show that the addition of adhesives to the joint system is proven to increase friction. This shows that the joints that use adhesives have a greater strength of 17.20% than the joints without adhesives. The mechanism of collapse of the joint using adhesive starts from the collapse in the friction plane, then the screw undergoes tilting and subsequently experiences a collapse in the fused plane. From the results of this study it was concluded that the use of adhesives can be used as an alternative to increase the frictional force on the surface of the mild steel joints. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

    Authors: Mauluddin S, Sidik R

    DOI: 10.1088/1757-899X/879/1/012055

    Abstract

This research intends to carry out forward engineering of the student mark recapitulation application in the information systems department, Universitas Komputer Indonesia. The forward engineering is the final step of the reengineering process in the mark recapitulation application. Re-engineering is done because the student mark recapitulation application cannot function properly. This re-engineering used the big bang approach, which is to rebuild or change the entire existing system, while the forward engineering stage follows the stages of the general model of re-engineering software, namely conceptual, requirements, design, and implementation. The conceptual and requirements stages have been carried out in previous reverse engineering research, so that in the forward engineering the research phase will start from the design stage then proceed to the implementation phase. The programming language in the existing application uses visual basic and the new application will be rebuilt using the java programming language. The results of this study are the student mark recapitulation application which has nine functions, namely lecture management, curriculum management, student management, import mark, mark management, system settings, temporary transcript printing, final transcript printing, and graduation certificate printing. Based on the results of tests on several computers with different operating systems, this application can function properly as expected. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

    DOI: 10.1007/s44150-023-00098-5

    Abstract

Construction Automation and Robotics is the anticipated technology to overcome productivity issues and work accidents. This research aims to analyze the implementation of Construction Automation and Robotics at Indonesian Construction SOEs from the perspective of real project implementation based on project life cycle, comparison with best practices, and potential uses, through the qualitative-comparative analysis of the literature as well as questionnaires and in-depth interviews. It attempts to report how this technology is implemented in Indonesia as a comparison tool for other countries. This research identifies that seven Indonesian Construction SOEs have been using Construction Automation and Robotics technology, where Drones, Virtual Reality, and Prefabrication and Modularization are the most popular and mostly implemented in the construction phase. Compared to best practices, those implementations are still in the adoption stage. It has not reached its full potential through the development stage due to insufficient collaboration between contractors, technology companies, and universities. Although the construction market in Indonesia has not directly demanded in-project applications, this technology is potentially considered to improve the completion of construction projects, especially the interaction prospects of Digital Twin and BIM. This study provides complete positional information on Construction Automation and Robotics type in the project life cycle in theory and practice as a benchmark for construction technology research. This study fills the research gap and pioneers Indonesia’s Construction Automation and Robotics implementation research in international journals by providing the latest and comprehensive overview and comparing it to good practices from the USA and China. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

Authors: Rodi Hartono, Hyun Rok Cha, Kyoo Jae Shin

    DOI: 10.1109/ACCESS.2024.3387460

    Abstract

Electric power steering (EPS) poses significant control challenges in autonomous vehicles due to their inherent complexity and non-linearity. This study explores the application of artificial neural network (ANN) to address these limitations. Two approaches are proposed: 1) an ANN-based identifier utilizing the backpropagation (BP) algorithm to learn the system’s non-linear dynamics, and 2) an ANN-based controller leveraging the Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) algorithm to improve control performance. Our findings demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed ANN-based BP algorithm in EPS system identification achieving over 99.6% accuracy in predicting EPS system dynamics compared to the traditional approach. Additionally, the LM-learned ANN-based controller aiming a faster response and precise reference tracking compared to the traditional controller method. These advancements underscore the potential of employing ANN methodologies to optimize EPS performance in autonomous vehicles. © 2013 IEEE.

  • Model Semantic Attention (SemAtt) With Hybrid Learning Separable Neural Network and Long Short-Term Memory to Generate Caption

Model Semantic Attention (SemAtt) With Hybrid Learning Separable Neural Network and Long Short-Term Memory to Generate Caption

Authors: Agus Nursikuwagus, Rinaldi Munir, Masayu L. Khodra, Deshinta Arrova Dewi

    DOI: 10.1109/ACCESS.2024.3481499

    Abstract

Image captioning is a hot topic that combines a multidiscipline task between computer vision and natural language processing. One of the tasks in the geological field is to make descriptions from the images of geological rocks. The task of a geologist is to write a content description of an image and display it as text that can be used in the future. Interpretation of the object is one of the objectives of the research, which is to traverse the image structures in depth. Shapes, colors, and structures are to be focused on to get the image’s features. The problem faced is how the separable neural network (SNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM) have an impact on the caption that can meet the geologist’s description. SNN is called Visual Attention (VaT), and LSTM is called Semantic Attention (SemAtt) as an architecture of image captioning. The result of the experiment confirms that the accuracy model for captioning gets BLEU-1=0.908 , BLEU-2=0.877 , BLEU-3=0.750 , and BLEU-4=0.510. The evaluation score is compared to those of other evaluators, such as Meteor and RougeL, which get 0.670 and 0.623, respectively. The model confirms that it outperforms the baseline model. Referring to the evaluations, we concluded that the model was able to generate captioned geological rock images that met the geologist’s description. Precision and recall have supported the models in providing the predicted word that is suitable for the image features. © 2013 IEEE.
