    Abstract

    As one of the graduation requirements at the university level, students must complete a thesis or final project. In practice, students often find it difficult to determine the theme or topic of research. The research topic is expected to be in accordance with the student’s ability, based on the academic value that has been achieved in the previous lecture process. For this reason, in this study, an analysis will be carried out on what course recommendations can support the students’ thesis and final project processes, which are expected to assist students in determining the theme or research topic, based on the values of the courses that have been taken by students in the learning process. previously. The analysis was carried out using the k-means algorithm. The results of this research will provide recommendations to help lecturers and students in determining the themes of the thesis that will be made. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.

    Abstract

    This study aims to see how improved organizational culture, managerial espouse, and internal command affect the success of accounting information systems (AIS) in small and medium-sized businesses. A descriptive and verified technique using a quantitative approach was adopted. The pattern uses 30 patterns from small and medium organizations that carry out accounting records systems. Multiple linear regression analysis is employed as the analytical method, and T-test is used to evaluate the speculation partially. According to the findings, corporate culture substantially impacts the success of the AIS. The backing of top management substantially impacts the accounting information system (AIS)’s success. Internal control significantly impacts the success of an AIS since the more robust the organizational culture, the better the present AIS will be. The results are expected to provide solutions or solve problems related to AIS that are unavailable, not on time, and experiencing issues in carrying out their functions so that the AIS could be more optimal. Through this research, it can also be helpful to provide an overview and proof that many factors influence the success of the AIS, so these factors must be considered and improved to realize the goals of small and medium enterprises, namely, to improve people’s welfare. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.

    Abstract

    Research still does not frequently use the concept of value creation through the application of big data analytics. Additionally, the internet serves as a limitless supply of knowledge that comes from different people all over the world and is delivered in a variety of ways, including text documents, photos, audio files, and video. Search engine is a tool used to find different types of information on the internet. The issue that frequently occurs when looking for information online is that the search results for the intended subject are frequently unrelated to the terms entered. In order to increase the relevance of the data obtained from the search results, the goal of this study is to implement the query expansion approach, which involves reformulating the initial query in order to add several phrases utilizing a thesaurus. The waterfall model was used in conjunction with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in the research. The results showed that the creation of a document search engine based on an information retrieval system was able to enhance data relevance and the standard of document search outcomes in big data analysis. The recall results are higher due to the usage of query expansion, which allowed for the retrieval of more pertinent documents. It is clear that by adopting this technique, the relevancy of the data in the search system can be improved. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.

    Abstract

    PT. SMC is a filter trading company that involves business processes such as inventory, packing, and delivery. Manual material handling activities in the packing process are considered non-ergonomic and can lead to musculoskeletal disorders. One of the packing process activities is plastic wrapping on crates, in which workers carry 12 kg of plastic rolls around a 120×120×150 cm crate, starting from a bending position and lifting the plastic roll to a standing position. The goal of this study was to analyze and improve the wrapping process in terms of ergonomics and productivity. To assess the condition of activities, the Nordic Body Map and Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) methods were used. In addition, a plastic wrapping tool is designed to help the worker in packing activities, and the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method was used to develop the design process. According to the results of the nordic body map data, many workers have a complaint of pain in the waist and right hand. Using the REBA assessment for the existing condition was obtained the risk level of the lower position was very high, the risk level of the middle position and the upper position were high, while the output of the wrapping processes was 19 pallets per day. Three tool designs were developed, and the plastic wrapping trolley was selected as the best design. After using tools, the research shows that the plastic wrapping procedure in. PT. SMC is classified as non-ergonomic, causing a high risk of harm to the waist and right hand. By using the quality function deployment approach, a wrapping trolley is chosen to be manufactured, and the end REBA value is 3, indicating a low risk level. Another benefit shows that, there was an increase in manufacturing output specifically from 19 pallets/day to 37 pallets/day. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.

    Abstract

    The needs of the community in completing the administration, especially in the field of land and buildings are quite high. Especially in the land sector, which is never empty of buying and selling transactions. In the process, the community needs to take care of the administration from the village level to the sub-district level to get their land titles. At the sub-district level, which of course covers the area of several villages, it certainly requires a fast process to avoid queues and also tidy up the data as archives if one day it is needed. Cibiru District, which is located in the eastern part of Bandung City, includes 4 (four) urban villages, namely Pasirbiru Village, Cipadung Village, Palasari Village, and Cisurupan Village. With the coverage of the four sub-districts, of course, if there is a land administration process, it requires a system that can properly handle the interaction between sub-district officers and the community. The purpose of this study is to design a Land Deed Submission Information System with the intention of providing two-way services between the communities as users so that they can directly access and participate in the stages. The method used in this study uses qualitative methods by using interview and observation data collection techniques to the object of research, namely the Cibiru District Office. The system development method used is object-oriented with a prototype as a software development method. The results show that with the design of this information system, the problems that have been described previously can be resolved, so that the community can easily monitor the progress of the land deed. The process in the system includes an application for a Sale and Purchase Deed (AJB), site review, and AJB collection. All processes that are usually carried out by visiting the sub-district directly can be facilitated by the existence of this information system which can be accessed via the website by the user and can directly input data and file requirements. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.

    Abstract

    This investigation aims to develop an odour reduction system simulation using a Type-2 Fuzzy Logic Controller (T2FLS). T2FLC is a further development of the classic fuzzy logic (Type-1 Fuzzy Logic Controller or T1FLC). Where the membership function of T2FLC is also fuzzy. A test by several references indicates that the performance of T2FLC is better than the T1FLC. The proposed T2FLC is tested and compared to the PID controller and T1FLC. The test is based on simulation using MATLAB and Simulink®. Three attempts are carried out to compare the performance of the three controllers using three different gain (C), time delay (L), and time constant (T) values. This shows that type-2 fuzzy is the most reliable method for magnifying C, L, and T values with rise time = 1.368 seconds, maximum overshoot = 60%, and settling time = 8.989 seconds. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.

    Abstract

    This study aims to design a new horror game by utilizing virtual reality technology. This game was developed as an entertainment medium and also a learning medium where in addition to being able to play games, users can also learn to memorize verses of the Qur’an. In data collection, this research uses a qualitative descriptive method, then in the application design process, we used Adobe XD to make the initial design of the game. After getting an idea related to the game that will be made, Unity Software will be used for the virtual reality design stage. The result of this research is that with the presence of this game application, users are offered a new experience because players can feel that deepening spiritual conditions can also be achieved through games. The conclusion is that the “Tadhakar” game application using VR technology can be a new concept for those who are interested. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.

    Abstract

    This research discusses the comparison performance of different hosting servers. The hosting server that is used as a comparison consists of four types. Namely, Indonesian shared hosting servers, foreign shared hosting servers, Indonesian virtual private servers, and foreign virtual private servers. The parameters tested in this study are load time, domain name system, connection, and secure socket layer. The tools used for testing the performance comparison of the hosting server are Dotcom-Tools, Pingdom.com, Webpage Test, and sitespeed. The results of this comparison can be an input for potential users who have plans to online their applications using a hosting server. The total value of web server hosting Indonesian shared hosting servers (SH I) is 28.975 milliseconds (ms), foreign shared hosting servers (SH LN) are 8.267 ms, Indonesian virtual private servers (VPS I) are 14.195 ms, Foreign virtual private servers (VPS LN) are 11.835 ms. This research concludes that foreign shared hosting servers (SH LN) are the best web hosting servers because, on some of the parameters tested, this server has the best value because it gets the lowest value with 8.267 ms. © 2023 Materials and Energy Research Center.     Abstract

    The aim of this study is to design a zakat information system model that integrates zakat institutions at the provincial level of West Java, Indonesia, with branches at the district or city level. The purpose of this integration is to impact business continuity for MSMEs. The research method used was descriptive-qualitative, which examined the condition of natural objects and existing phenomena, and collected data using survey methods namely interview, observation, and literature review. The results of this study proposed an integrated zakat information system that are accessible online in mobile and website. The mobile access can make it easier for muzakki in urban areas to make zakat payments using cellphone and immediately receive a receipt for zakat payments. The web access aims to facilitate the reporting of zakat collection by zakat institution administrators. Through this research, integrating mobile-based and web-based features into zakat information system is expected to increase muzakki satisfaction in collecting zakat funds allocated for MSMEs development. This will further impact the development of MSMEs, thereby contributing to the overall economic growth of the region. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.

    Abstract

    In Indonesia, the construction of the road has challenges because the road was built on soft clay soil. The vacuum preloading method was used to improve the shear strength and compressibility properties of soft soil in this project. Moreover, what needs to be a concern for practitioners is the issue of increasing simulation accuracy in predicting soil settlement in a vacuum preloading system. The research objective of this study was to determine changes in soil settlement behavior that occurred from the vacuum preloading system using a numerical simulations Geostudio with the 2D Multi Drain-Plane Strain approach and the settlement result of the simulation will be compare with instrumentation data. In this study the vacuum pressure distribution is modeled using water total head negative pore water pressure and the pressure value used following vacuum gauge data in the field with distribution approach is 100% at the surface of the sand platform, 85% to a depth of 5 m, then 60% to the end of the PVD. Based on the simulations, the conlusion is the vacuum pressure applied along the vertical drainage is not modeled constant, but changes with depth, the value of 60% at the bottom of the vertical drainage is quite representative of the conditions in the field and the settlement from the simulation is quite good at approaching the field observation with a prediction of the settlement due to vacuum preloading of 0.93 m, when compared to the field observation data there is a difference of about 1.6%. © 2023 Materials and Energy Research Center.
