Management Study Program of FEB UNIKOM Achieves Excellent Accreditation, Ready to Strengthen Innovation and Graduates’ Competitiveness

BANDUNG, UNIKOM — The Bachelor of Management Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) has successfully achieved Excellent accreditation from Perkumpulan Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Ekonomi Manajemen Bisnis dan Akuntansi (LAMEMBA), the Independent Accreditation Agency for Economics, Management, Business, and Accounting. This achievement was established through LAMEMBA Decree Number 272/DE/A.5/LAMEMBA-U/IX/2026. According to the accreditation certificate, the Bachelor of Management Study Program at Universitas Komputer Indonesia, Bandung, has been awarded Excellent accreditation, valid from September 4, 2026, to September 4, 2031.

Achieving Excellent accreditation is a significant accomplishment for FEB UNIKOM in strengthening the quality of higher education, particularly within the Bachelor of Management Study Program. Previously, the Management Study Program had received an A accreditation rating from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). Therefore, achieving Excellent accreditation from LAMEMBA demonstrates the study program’s commitment and consistency in maintaining and improving the quality of education. This achievement also recognizes the various quality improvement processes that have been consistently implemented over the past several years.

The Dean of FEB UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. Siti Kurnia Rahayu, S.E., M.Ak., Ak., CA., expressed her gratitude for this achievement. According to her, the successful accreditation was not the result of preparations made only shortly before the assessment process, but rather the outcome of a long-term process that had been underway for the previous five years.

“Alhamdulillah, it was an extraordinary process. Accreditation is not a process that ends in a particular year, after which we simply prepare the documents required for the assessment. Rather, it is a process that has been ongoing for the past five years,” said Prof. Siti.

Prof. Siti viewed this achievement as evidence that the hard work and consistency of all elements within the faculty and study program can produce the expected results. “The Excellent accreditation proves, firstly, that hard work will produce the results we hope for. However, the greatness of Allah is also important because, without Allah’s love, we would not have achieved such extraordinary results,” she said.

Consistency in Quality Improvement

Furthermore, Prof. Siti emphasized that Excellent accreditation is not the end of FEB UNIKOM’s journey toward improving the quality of education. Instead, this achievement must be consistently maintained and further enhanced throughout the next five years by the Management Study Program.

According to her, the Management Study Program must continue implementing the learning process and the Tridharma of Higher Education, supported by sound governance in accordance with the provisions and standards established by LAMEMBA.

“Our hope going forward is that this will be our starting point at the Faculty of Economics, particularly in the Management Study Program, to continue implementing the learning process and the Tridharma of Higher Education, as well as strengthening governance over the next five years,” she explained.

She further emphasized the importance of maintaining continuity after obtaining Excellent accreditation. The accreditation should not cause the academic community to stop pursuing improvements.

“It cannot stop. After we receive Excellent accreditation, it does not mean that the process is over. We must continue implementing processes that comply with LAMEMBA’s requirements in this context,” Prof. Siti stated.

The Challenge of Maintaining Excellent Accreditation

Prof. Siti also emphasized that maintaining Excellent accreditation is a challenge in itself. The current accreditation certificate is evidence of the achievements that have been attained, but the quality of education must be consistently maintained. She believes that continuous quality assurance will also benefit graduates.

Furthermore, a study program’s accreditation status provides important information for various academic and professional purposes. “It provides valuable benefits for graduates. Graduates also need accreditation certificates, especially those with Excellent accreditation,” she added. Ultimately, she hopes that the Management Study Program will be able to maintain its Excellent accreditation in the next accreditation period. “Maintaining that accreditation is not easy. Hopefully, the Management Study Program can maintain it again over the next five years,” she concluded.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Management Study Program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Raeni Dwi Santy, S.E., M.Sc., CIMA., CDMP., stated that the Management Study Program’s accreditation was inseparable from the collaboration, contributions, and commitment of various parties, including lecturers, educational staff, students, alumni, partners, and other stakeholders of the Management Study Program. “Alhamdulillah, we are very grateful for this Excellent accreditation. For us, the Excellent predicate is not merely an administrative achievement, but a reflection of the long process and collaborative efforts of the entire Management Study Program family in building a culture of quality and improving the quality of education,” she said.

Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Raeni emphasized that this achievement motivates the Management Study Program to continue conducting ongoing evaluation and development. According to her, changes in the business environment, technological developments, and the increasingly dynamic needs of the workplace require the study program to continuously adapt and provide relevant learning experiences for students.

“This Excellent accreditation motivates us to continue moving forward. Going forward, we want to strengthen the quality of learning, curriculum innovation, the use of technology and artificial intelligence in learning, the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education, and collaboration with the business and industrial sectors so that UNIKOM’s Management graduates become more competent and competitive,” she explained.

She also hopes that achieving Excellent accreditation will serve as momentum to strengthen the synergy among the entire academic community and stakeholders of the Management Study Program. In this way, the quality that has been achieved will not only be maintained throughout the accreditation period but will also continue to improve and have a tangible impact on students, graduates, and the community. “Excellence is not just a title listed on a certificate, but rather a responsibility to continue providing the best educational experience for students and ensuring that UNIKOM’s Management graduates are able to meet the needs of the workforce and adapt to future business developments,” she concluded.

Achieving Excellent accreditation for the Management Study Program further strengthen FEB UNIKOM’s commitment to making quality improvement a continuous process. UNIKOM and King Sejong Institute Bandung 1 Present the 13th Sejong Korean Language Assessment (SKA) for Korean Language Learners in West Java

Bandung, September 2026 — Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) has once again been selected as the place for the 13th Sejong Korean Language Assessment (SKA), in collaboration with King Sejong Institute Bandung 1 (KSI Bandung 1). This marks the third time the SKA has been held at UNIKOM and is part of an effort to provide access to Korean language proficiency assessments for learners in West Java.

The Sejong Korean Language Assessment (SKA) is a Korean language proficiency test administered by the Sejong Institute Foundation under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea. The SKA is designed to comprehensively assess Korean language communication skills across four language skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

The 13th SKA at UNIKOM was held two days. On Saturday, September 5, 2026, participants took the listening, reading, and writing tests. Meanwhile, the speaking test was conducted online via Zoom in real time with the King Sejong Institute Foundation in Korea on Sunday, September 6, 2026. A total of 30 participants took part in this year’s examination.

In addition to serving as a platform for measuring Korean language proficiency, the SKA certificate can also be used as a supporting document for certain academic and professional purposes. The certificate may be used in the application process at several universities in South Korea and is considered by several Korean companies as part of their recruitment or selection processes, in accordance with each institution’s requirements.

The implementation of the SKA at UNIKOM is supported by a conducive campus environment and adequate facilities to ensure a smooth examination process. This support contributes to creating a comfortable atmosphere for participants throughout the SKA.

The implementation of the SKA is part of UNIKOM’s commitment to expanding international cooperation in the fields of language and culture. The collaboration with KSI Bandung 1 is expected to continue providing opportunities for Korean language learners in West Java to develop and assess their skills, while also supporting their preparation for further studies and career opportunities in South Korea.

Excelling in Literacy, a Communication Studies Student from UNIKOM Wins Second Place in the 2026 West Bandung Regency Reading Ambassador Selection

BANDUNG, UNIKOM — The achievements of students at Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) have once again garnered attention. This time, Ghaitsa Amalia, a student in the Communication Studies Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at UNIKOM and a UNIKOM Reading Ambassador for the 2025–2026 period, achieved a remarkable accomplishment in the field of literacy by winning second place in the West Bandung Regency Reading Ambassador Selection. This achievement also qualified Ghaitsa to represent West Bandung Regency in the West Java Provincial Reading Ambassador Selection.

This achievement further adds to the list of accomplishments by UNIKOM students, who continue to demonstrate their abilities and potential in various fields. In addition to excelling academically, UNIKOM students actively develop themselves through social activities, leadership, communication, creativity, and literacy. Specifically, in the West Bandung Regency Reading Ambassador Selection, Ghaitsa Amalia’s achievement marks the second consecutive year in which a UNIKOM student and Reading Ambassador has achieved this distinction. Previously, in 2025, Jihan Salsabila, a UNIKOM student and UNIKOM Reading Ambassador for the 2024–2025 period, also won second place in the West Bandung Regency Reading Ambassador Selection.

Ghaitsa was previously appointed as UNIKOM’s Reading Ambassador for the 2025–2026 period. This experience has provided her with valuable capital to contribute more broadly to the literacy movement and enhance UNIKOM’s reputation at the regional level. Winning second place in the West Bandung Regency Reading Ambassador Selection is an excellent achievement and demonstrates that UNIKOM students are capable of competing and achieving success beyond the campus environment.

In an interview, Director of UNIKOM Library Ubudiyah Setiawati, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., expressed her hopes for the role and presence of UNIKOM’s Reading Ambassadors. According to her, the presence of UNIKOM’s Reading Ambassadors has shown progress in supporting Gerakan Literasi Nasional (GLN), National Literacy Movement, and expanding the contribution of the literacy movement through the involvement of reading ambassadors at the West Java provincial, Bandung City, and Bandung Regency levels. In 2026, this effort will be carried forward by Ghaitsa Amalia, along with other UNIKOM Reading Ambassadors, to strengthen GLN. Through this program, UNIKOM remains committed to being actively involved in creating a meaningful impact and producing a generation with a strong culture of literacy.

The West Bandung Regency Reading Ambassador Selection was organized by Dinas Arsip dan Perpustakaan Kabupaten Bandung Barat in collaboration with the West Bandung Regency Reading Ambassadors Association. The event, held from June 20 to August 12, is an annual program aimed at increasing reading interest and promoting a culture of literacy within the community.

In an interview, Ghaitsa explained that the Reading Ambassador Selection focuses on literacy, reading interest, education, and community empowerment, particularly in fostering a reading culture in West Bandung Regency. According to her, Reading Ambassadors play a crucial role as representatives and motivators who can encourage the community, especially the younger generation, to become more familiar with books, information, and various literacy activities. “The main goal is to select young people who can become West Bandung Regency Reading Ambassadors, while also serving as driving forces and role models in increasing reading interest and a culture of literacy in the community,” Ghaitsa explained.

The West Bandung Regency Reading Ambassador Selection process involved several stages, beginning with participant registration, administrative screening, written tests, literacy activities, the selection of the Top 10 participants, briefings, and the grand finale.

In the final stage, participants were assessed based on various aspects, including knowledge, creativity, communication skills, and literacy-related ideas and programs. Based on the judges’ assessments, the two best participants were selected to represent West Bandung Regency in the West Java Provincial Reading Ambassador Selection. “I won second place, giving me the opportunity to represent West Bandung Regency in the West Java Reading Ambassador competition,” said Ghaitsa.

As a Communication Studies student and UNIKOM Reading Ambassador, Ghaitsa views literacy as an increasingly important issue amid technological developments and the rapid flow of digital information. She believes that community literacy is not only related to reading activities but also encompasses the ability to select, understand, and use information wisely. “Reading Ambassadors can serve as both representatives and motivators, encouraging the community to become more engaged with books, information, and various literacy activities,” she said.

Ghaitsa’s readiness and skills in participating in the event are also inseparable from the coaching and development process she underwent through her active organizational involvement at UNIKOM. Ghaitsa’s experience as a member of Korps Protokoler Mahasiswa (KPM) under the Protocol Division of the Directorate of Public Relations and Protocol provided a valuable learning experience that strengthened her communication skills, self-confidence, discipline, leadership, and ability to interact and conduct herself appropriately in various situations. These experiences became valuable assets for Ghaitsa throughout each stage of the West Bandung Regency Reading Ambassador Selection, from the selection process to presenting her ideas and literacy programs to the panel of judges.

This achievement would not have been possible without the process, hard work, and support of various parties who consistently provided Ghaitsa with motivation and guidance. This support came from her parents, family, supervisors and mentors, the UNIKOM academic community, and various other parties who provided guidance and encouragement throughout the process. For Ghaitsa, this achievement is not only a personal accomplishment but also the result of the collaboration and support of those around her, who continue to encourage her to develop, compete, and make positive contributions to the field of literacy. This success also motivates other students to seize opportunities, develop their potential, and excel in various fields. Therefore, UNIKOM continues to encourage its students not only to excel academically but also to actively contribute, compete, and make a positive impact on society. The purposes of this research are to analyze the influence of digital wallets on customer purchase behaviour in Indonesia. The main discussion will be about Gopay that was created by Gojek, one of the top startup companies in Indonesia, which famously known by its ride-hailing service. This research covers several factors, such as ease of use, security, credibility, and offers to have a more specific discussion. Collecting previous literature studies and company data was chosen and conducted in order to achieve the objective of this research. Financial Literacy Education from an Early Age: UNIKOM Accounting Students Hold 2026 Community Service Program at SDN Cisalasih

BANDUNG, UNIKOM — On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the Accounting Student Association (HMAK) of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) held its 2026 Community Service Program at SDN Cisalasih (Public Elementary School) in Cikidang Village, Lembang, West Bandung Regency. Themed “Save Today, Achieve Tomorrow,” the activity was part of the students’ efforts to provide early financial literacy education to elementary school students.

The 2026 HMAK UNIKOM Community Service specifically targeted students in Grades 1 to 3. Financial literacy materials were delivered through an educational, interactive, and enjoyable approach to ensure that they were easy to understand and appropriate for the children’s developmental stages. Through these activities, elementary school students were introduced to the basics of developing saving habits, distinguishing between needs and wants, and using their money wisely.

In her remarks, the Chairperson of the 2026 Community Service, Vania Destiya Aulia, conveyed the students’ commitment to continuing to make positive contributions to society, particularly through activities that support education and character development from an early age.

The activity continued with remarks from the Chair of HMAK UNIKOM, Wine Aulia Putri Mahesa, who expressed her support for the implementation of the program as a space of fulfilling the students’ role in contributing to the community.

One of the main activities of Community Service 2026 was an educational session on distinguishing between needs and wants, which was presented through the “Dream Piggy Bank” activity. Through this activity, students were encouraged to understand the importance of setting aside some of their money for savings. They also learned to set simple goals that they could achieve through the habit of saving.

The theme “Save Today, Achieve Tomorrow” served as the main foundation for the delivery of the educational materials. Saving was introduced to the students not merely as an effort to reduce spending on purchases or snacks, but also as a habit of managing money wisely and preparing for future needs and goals.

The Student Affairs Coordinator of the Accounting Study Program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adeh Ratna Komala, S.E., M.Si., also expressed her support for the 2026 PPM. In her remarks, she expressed her appreciation for the activity as part of the students’ learning process, which helps develop their mentoring skills while simultaneously enabling them to make a real contribution to the community.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adeh also expressed her gratitude to the school and teachers for their support. Such support is considered important in creating synergy between universities and educational institutions in providing meaningful educational activities for students.

Meanwhile, Nurhayati, S.Pd., representing the Acting Principal of SDN Cisalasih, Iroh Kartini, S.Pd., expressed her appreciation and gratitude for the implementation of the HMAK’s Community Service at SDN Cisalasih. She hoped that the students’ participation in the program would provide the elementary school students with additional beneficial experiences and knowledge.

The implementation of Community Service 2026 demonstrates the role of students not only as members of the academic community but also as community partners in supporting the improvement of educational quality. Through early financial literacy education, HMAK UNIKOM strives to build positive money management habits while strengthening the relationship between the university and the community.

Physical distancing is the new government policy during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it has greatly affected Erna Sari Catering. One of Erna Sari Catering’s marketing strategy solutions during the COVID-19 Pandemic is to carry out all business processes using electronic technology, particularly information technology. The purpose of this research is to develop marketing strategies and job vacancies through digital services. This research was conducted by implementing website-based digital marketing in order to assist Erna Sari Catering’s business in developing and excelling in digital technology, as well as to assist the government in reducing unemployment caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Development of a Path Planning Algorithm Combining the Rapidly-Exploring Random Tree Algorithm and the Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm

Abstract

This study proposes a path-planning algorithm that combines the Rapidly-exploring Random Tree (RRT) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithms. This research aims to achieve near-optimal values with fast convergence using the proposed algorithm. The RRT algorithm can generate a faster path, but it is not optimal. The RRT algorithm is hybridized with the PSO algorithm to improve its performance and produce a near-optimal path. Each iteration of the combination process involves spinning a roulette wheel. The outcome of the spinning roulette wheel determines whether the following sampling process is carried out randomly, around the local best path, or around the global best path. Consequently, as the quality of a path increases, the probability of sampling along that path also increases. The PSO-RRT algorithm is the name given to the proposed algorithm. The PSO-RRT algorithm is tested and compared to the RRT* and informed RRT* algorithms. The test is based on simulation and employs various benchmarks such as clutter, multiple-narrow, square field, and tough passage environments. SYNERGY IN DISCIPLINE”: Faculty of Economics and Business UNIKOM Shapes a Character-Driven Generation Through a Character Building Program at Rindam III Siliwangi

BANDUNG, UNIKOM — As part of an effort to instill character, discipline, leadership, and a sense of camaraderie from the very beginning of the students’ academic journey, the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) organized a Character Building program titled “Synergy in Discipline: One Soul One Goal.”, at Dodik Bela Negara of Rindam III Siliwangi in Lembang. The event was attended by first-semester students of the 2025-2026 Academic Year and took place from August 5 to 6, 2026.

The Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. Siti Kurnia Rahayu, S.E., M.Ak., Ak., CA., expressed her appreciation for the successful execution of the event during her opening remarks. She emphasized the critical role of character building as an integral part of the educational process. According to her, student success is determined not solely by academic prowess, but also by character, discipline, teamwork, and readiness to navigate future challenges, particularly in the professional world. “Discipline and character are vital foundations that must be cultivated from the student years. Through programs like this, students learn not only how to achieve individual goals but also to understand the importance of synergy and unity in accomplishing collective objectives,” she stated.

Embracing the theme “Synergy in Discipline: One Soul One Goal,” the Faculty of Economics and Business UNIKOM Character Building program was designed to foster student awareness regarding the significance of discipline, cooperation, responsibility, solidarity, and leadership. The entire series of activities was curated to provide students with hands-on experience in building cohesion while simultaneously developing their adaptability and teamwork skills.

The selection of Dodik Bela Negara Rindam III Siliwangi in Lembang as the venue further supported these objectives. The training environment, which is steeped in values of discipline, mental resilience, leadership, and teamwork, offered an atmosphere distinct from the typical campus learning environment. Through this experience, students were encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, establish effective communication, and strengthen mutual trust among peers.

Over the course of the two-day event, students participated in a variety of activities that encouraged active engagement, unity, and character development. The “One Soul One Goal” spirit served as the underlying thread throughout every activity, reinforcing the message that a group’s success requires an alignment of goals, commitment, and contribution from each individual.

The Character Building program was officially concluded by the First Vice Rector of UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Narimawati, Dra., S.E., M.Si., M.Pd. In her closing address, Prof. Umi commended the students’ enthusiasm and active participation throughout the event. Furthermore, she urged that the experiences and values gained during the program should not end with the event’s conclusion, but rather be consistently applied in both their academic pursuits and daily lives. Discipline, teamwork, responsibility, and cohesion are expected to become deeply ingrained habits as students progress through their journey at Faculty of Economics and Business UNIKOM. “Character Building is not merely an activity that concludes in two days. The values acquired must be brought back to campus and manifested in everyday behavior, whether in studying, participating in student organizations, or building relationships with peers,” Prof. Umi remarked.

Through the implementation of this Character Building program, Faculty of Economics and Business UNIKOM reaffirms its commitment to shaping students who are not only academically exceptional but also possess strong character, discipline, collaborative skills, and a spirit of leadership. The ethos of “Synergy in Discipline: One Soul One Goal” is also expected to serve as a foundation for first-year FEB UNIKOM students to build an academic journey filled with achievements, while growing into individuals capable of synergizing, contributing, and achieving common goals. Thus, the Character Building program serves not only as a momentum to strengthen camaraderie among students, but also as a fundamental step in cultivating a generation of Faculty of Economics and Business UNIKOM students defined by character, integrity, and readiness to face the challenges of the future. Toward Global-Standard Graduates: UNIKOM Collaborates with Cisco Through Industry Partner Learning Path Socialization for Cisco Networking Academy-Based Curriculum Alignment

BANDUNG, UNIKOM – To strengthen its commitment to aligning education with the needs of the industry through Cisco Networking Academy (NetAcad)-based activities, the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), through the Office of the Fourth Deputy Vice Rector and the International Class & Training Division, organized a workshop titled “Aligning Education with Industry: Synchronizing the OBE Curriculum to Produce Outstanding and Adaptable FTIK Graduates,” aimed at faculty members in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science (FTIK) at UNIKOM on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Held at the Cisco Lab Room on the 9th floor of the UNIKOM Smart Building, the workshop specifically provided training on the utilization of the Cisco Networking Academy (NetAcad) as an industry-based learning platform. Lecturers were introduced to various Cisco courses, learning resources, virtual laboratory facilities, evaluation systems, and learning mechanisms that can be utilized to enhance the classroom learning process.

During the event, the Cisco Networking Academy served as the primary focus of the training. The platform was introduced as a source of industry curriculum that lecturers can use to enrich course materials and provide a learning experience more aligned with industry demands. The lecturers were introduced to various courses available on the platform, including materials related to Python, Linux, and Cybersecurity. Beyond theoretical materials, the Cisco platform also provides videos, articles, PowerPoint presentations, quizzes, interactive activities, and hands-on laboratories capable of supporting a practice-based learning process.

As a Vice-Rector III for Research, Innovation, and Accreditation, who also serves as the Dean of Faculty Of Engineering And Computer Science UNIKOM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Herman S. Soegoto, MBA., emphasized in his opening remarks the crucial role of lecturers in bridging academic competence with industry needs. According to him, lecturers inherently possess strong mastery over their respective teaching fields. However, alignment with industry needs, including through the adoption of the Cisco curriculum remains essential to ensure that the materials delivered to students are increasingly relevant to the dynamics of the professional world.

Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Herman hoped that upon completing the event, lecturers could extract relevant materials from the Cisco Networking Academy to be subsequently adopted into their curricula and courses. “Our hope is that after this training or alignment, you can reap the benefits and draw out what we need to adopt into our curriculum and courses, so that we may ultimately transfer it to our students,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Deputy Vice-Rector IV UNIKOM, Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D., explained that UNIKOM actually already has several industry curricula that have been running for quite some time, including the one from Cisco. Therefore, UNIKOM is striving to provide broader access for lecturers to study and utilize the Cisco Networking Academy curriculum to support classroom instruction. “We are opening opportunities as widely as possible. For those of you who want to learn and align your classes with the industry curriculum, you are welcome to join,” he expressed.

According to Adam, Ph.D., the utilization of industry curricula, including Cisco’s, holds a strategic position in strengthening the implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE). Students’ competency achievements can be supported by more measurable evidence through course completion and certificate acquisition. He clarified that certification does not always have to be understood as a paid industry certification. Participants can also earn a Certificate of Completion after finishing all materials, quizzes, and assignments within a course. “A completion certificate is more than enough to serve as a portfolio for OBE,” he explained.

He outlined two implementation approaches. First, lecturers can continue using their existing course materials while simultaneously implementing the Cisco curriculum in parallel. Through this pattern, students receive regular lecture materials alongside the opportunity to take Cisco courses and earn a Certificate of Completion. Second, lecturers can opt for full adoption, which involves integrating materials from the Cisco curriculum comprehensively into the learning process. This application still needs to be tailored to the study program’s curriculum and communicated with the head of the study program and the curriculum team. “You can still deliver the materials you already have and run the industry curriculum in parallel, or if you prefer, you can opt for full adoption,” he noted.

Adam, Ph.D., also emphasized that the implementation of the Cisco curriculum must be coordinated with the study program to ensure its utilization aligns with the established curriculum structure. One of the core advantages highlighted during the event was that the Cisco Networking Academy materials possess global scope and standards. Participants were introduced to materials accessed and studied by learners globally. This provides added value for lecturers, as Cisco materials can be used to enrich teaching perspectives while introducing global competency standards to students.

As a critical segment of the event, participants were directly guided through the mechanics of using the Cisco Networking Academy. In the initial stage, participants were registered as students on the platform. Those who had previously registered underwent a data alignment and registration process, while newly invited participants were required to register to access their designated classes. Once successfully logged in, enrolled classes could be viewed via the My Learning menu.

After completing a course and fulfilling the designated stages, participants can be directed to acquire an instructor role. As a student, a participant focuses on enrolled materials and resources; however, as an instructor, a lecturer gains broader access to course materials and various learning resources to support the teaching process.

During the technical introduction session, the Head of the International Class & Training Division and Chief Organizer of the event, Angga Friyanto, S.Kom., M.T., explained that a major advantage of the Cisco Networking Academy is the provision of learning experiences with the exact same standards used by learners worldwide. “The material accessed here is 100 percent exactly the same as what students in America use to learn Cisco. This is the exact material,” Angga clarified.

According to Angga, this parity in learning materials presents a vital opportunity for UNIKOM to maximize the use of industry learning resources for its students. The challenge lies not just in material availability, but in how lecturers can manage, deeply understand, and empower these materials to fit classroom needs. He emphasized that the role of instructors is pivotal in strategizing optimal utilization of available materials, benefiting both the students and the competency development of the academic community.

During the event’s execution, lecturers were first directed to ensure their accounts were properly registered on the Cisco Networking Academy system. Angga noted that some participants already had accounts using the same or different email addresses. For lecturers who had previously received an invitation, the process did not stop there; they still needed to register within the system to be officially enrolled and gain necessary learning access.

The Cisco platform also details information regarding hardware requirements, prerequisite skills, module counts, laboratories, interactive activities, and evaluations that participants must complete. This information serves as a valuable reference for lecturers in designing or adjusting their Semester Learning Plans (RPS) and curriculum development to make learning outcomes more measurable. In addition to supplying learning materials, the platform enables systematic monitoring of the learning process. Participants were familiarized with the course structure, covering material scope, module sequences, learning targets, and expected competencies.

Participants’ learning progress can also be tracked via the grade book. Lecturers are able to view completed activities, points earned, and pending tasks. Through this mechanism, Cisco-based learning becomes highly measurable, allowing both participants and lecturers to monitor course completion progress in real time.

In the initial phase of the workshop, participants were introduced to several IT-relevant Cisco Networking Academy courses, including Python, Linux, and Cybersecurity. For Python, courses such as Python Essentials 1, Python Essentials 2, and Data Science are available. The Linux track offers Linux Essentials 1 and Linux Essentials 2, while the Cybersecurity field features multiple courses tailored to specific needs.

The utilization of the Cisco Networking Academy is not limited to student learning. The platform also offers lecturers opportunities to develop their competencies as instructors. Once designated as instructors, lecturers can participate in periodic capacity-building programs and instructor training. Through a broader adoption of the Cisco industry curriculum, UNIKOM is committed to cultivating an educational ecosystem that is increasingly connected to global technological advancements and industry demands. BANDUNG, UNIKOM – The commitment of the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) to strengthening academic quality while expanding collaborative networks among universities continues to be realized through various strategic partnerships. On Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the Doctoral Program in Information Systems at UNIKOM’s Postgraduatehosted a benchmarking visit from the Darmajaya Institute of Informatics and Business (IIB) in Lampung in the 12th-floor conference room of UNIKOM’s Smart Building. The event aimed to open up broader and sustainable opportunities for collaboration in support of improving the quality of education, research, scientific publications, and the development of academic resources.

Also present at the event were members of UNIKOM’s leadership, including the Dean of UNIKOM’s Faculty of Postgraduate, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rahma Wahdiniwaty, Dra., M.Si., and the Chair of the Doctoral Program in Information Systems (DSI), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus Nursikuwagus, S.T., M.T., M.M., Director of Journals and Scientific Publications, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Poni Sukaesih Kurniati, S.IP., M.Si., and Director of Quality Assurance, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ely Suhayati, S.E., M.Si., Ak. CA. Meanwhile, representatives from IIB Darmajaya Lampung included the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sutedi, S.Kom., M.T.I.; the Director of the Graduate School, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Said Hasibuan, M.Kom.; the Chair of the Doctoral Program in Informatics, Prof. Ir. The Dean of the UNIKOM Faculty of Postgraduate, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rahma Wahdiniwaty, Dra., M.Si., expressed her appreciation for IIB Darmajaya’s visit to UNIKOM in her opening remarks. She noted that the meeting served as an important opportunity for both institutions to learn about each other’s governance structures, share experiences, and identify areas for collaboration that could be developed in a more concrete manner. She also explained that UNIKOM’s Postgraduate plays a role in managing educational programs at the master’s and doctoral levels. Currently, UNIKOM’s Postgraduateoversees two doctoral programs, one of which is the Doctoral Program in Information Systems, which plays a vital role in the development of technology- and information systems-based higher education.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rahma, the administration of doctoral education at UNIKOM is supported by various strategic units at both the university and faculty levels. The involvement of several directorates in these activities including those responsible for publications and journals, the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), partnerships, and international programs is part of UNIKOM’s efforts to build an integrated academic ecosystem. Additionally, she noted, “In the Doctoral Program in Information Systems, we ensure that the faculty members involved possess the necessary expertise in the field of Information Systems. This is a crucial aspect of maintaining the quality of the educational process and ensuring that students receive instruction aligned with their field of study,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the Doctoral Program in Information Systems at UNIKOM’s Graduate School, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus Nursikuwagus, S.T., M.T., expressed his appreciation for the visit by the IIB Darmajaya delegation to UNIKOM. He noted that the visit provided a valuable opportunity for the Doctoral Program in Information Systems to showcase its academic environment while fostering closer communication with partner institutions. Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus expressed gratitude for IIB Darmajaya’s trust in selecting UNIKOM as a benchmarking site. He also introduced the academic staff and support personnel present at the event as part of an effort to facilitate a more comprehensive discussion.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus also explained that the event involved not only the faculty of the Doctoral Program in Information Systems but also a number of supporting units within UNIKOM. The presence of leadership and directors was expected to broaden the scope of discussion so that benchmarking would not be limited to program management but would also address various aspects supporting the delivery of higher education. He emphasized that cross-unit collaboration is crucial because the development of a doctoral program cannot be separated from support across various areas—ranging from quality assurance, publications and journals, research, to the development of academic partnerships. “We are striving to bring together colleagues from various units involved in academic administration. The hope is that this discussion will be more comprehensive and that the faculty and staff from IIB Darmajaya can gain a more complete picture of how the academic ecosystem and support systems for the Doctoral Program in Information Systems at UNIKOM operate,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at IIB Darmajaya, Dr. Sutedi, stated that the visit to UNIKOM is part of IIB Darmajaya’s efforts to strengthen its readiness to implement the doctoral program, which is relatively new at the institution. He explained that IIB Darmajaya chose UNIKOM as one of its benchmarking references because of its strong academic reputation and experience in delivering doctoral-level education. “We came to UNIKOM, of course, with the intention of learning, particularly regarding the governance of the doctoral program. As it happens, the doctoral program we are developing is still relatively new, and last July we received official approval to implement the program. Therefore, we feel it is necessary to learn from universities that already have experience in managing doctoral programs,” said Dr. Sutedi.

According to Dr. Sutedi, the fact that the doctoral program developed by IIB Darmajaya is one of the relatively new programs in its region makes benchmarking activities particularly important. Limited experience and resources during the early stages of program development are the reasons why IIB Darmajaya is expanding its learning through visits to various universities that have longer experience in managing doctoral education. He also noted that UNIKOM is a relevant institution to serve as a reference because, in addition to its well-established reputation, it has a number of academics with experience and expertise in fields relevant to the development of the doctoral program at IIB Darmajaya. Furthermore, he added that the process of developing a doctoral program requires continuous learning, particularly in establishing governance structures, ensuring academic quality, developing faculty resources, and strengthening research and publications. To that end, the experience gained from UNIKOM is expected to serve as a vital foundation for IIB Darmajaya in developing a high-quality and sustainable doctoral program. “We recognize that there are still various resource constraints in developing a doctoral program. Therefore, we greatly need insights and experience from universities that have already implemented such programs. Hopefully, what we have learned from UNIKOM today can be applied and further developed on our campus,” he concluded.

This hope aligns with UNIKOM’s commitment to using benchmarking as a gateway to broader collaboration. The exchange of experiences between the two institutions is expected to evolve into various joint academic activities that provide direct benefits to faculty, students, researchers, and the institutions as a whole.

During the discussion session, the two institutions then addressed several key aspects of higher education administration, ranging from curriculum development and the learning process, program management, student admissions and services, research and scholarly publications, to the development of partnerships and internationalization. The discussion took place in an open and constructive atmosphere, emphasizing the exchange of experiences as a vital component in identifying higher education development strategies that are increasingly adaptable to the changing times.

The UNIKOM benchmarking activity with IIB Darmajaya is expected to be more than just an institutional visit; rather, it is intended to serve as a catalyst for building closer academic ties and opening up broader opportunities for collaboration driven by a spirit of knowledge sharing, strengthening synergy, and fostering innovation. It is hoped that UNIKOM and IIB Darmajaya will continue to develop productive and sustainable cooperation, while making a tangible contribution to the advancement of higher education in Indonesia.
