    Netrana PKM-KC team of UNIKOM Qualifies for the 38th Pimnas with the “Netrana” Smart Cane Innovation based on AI and IoT

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Another excellent achievement has been secured by the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), as one of the teams from the Student Creativity Program (PKM-KC) successfully qualified as a participant in the 38th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) 2025 organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. In the official announcement number 4461/B2/KM.01.00/2025 dated November 1, 2025, UNIKOM was listed as one of the universities that successfully qualified in the Student Creativity Program (PKM-KC) category. 

    The UNIKOM PKM-KC team, including the leader Ariq Hikari Hidayat (Information Technology), and the team members Adisya Ainun Fatihah (Information Technology), Regia Qolbu Rivita Atmowidjaja (Information Systems), and Rifky Al Mukmin Rachmat (Computer Engineering), presented an innovative work, “Netrana: AI-Based Telescopic Cane Integrated with IoT and Mobile Application for Obstacle Detection, Navigation, and Safety for the Visually Impaired in Public Spaces.” The work utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technology to help visually impaired people recognize their surroundings more safely and independently.

    This innovation by UNIKOM students demonstrates a high level of concern for the issues of inclusivity and the sustainability of technology that is friendly to all groups. The smart cane is capable of detecting obstacles, providing voice navigation, and connecting to a mobile application to monitor the user’s location in real-time, thereby increasing user safety in public spaces.

    The PKM-KC team’s supervisor lecturer, Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D., expressed his pride in the achievements of his students. “The idea proposed by the UNIKOM team was born from a strong desire to present humanistic and solution-oriented technology. The research and development process was not easy, but the students’ collaborative spirit and empathy towards people with disabilities became their main strength, enabling them to qualify for PIMNAS,“ he said. Furthermore, he added that the ”Netrana” project is proof that UNIKOM students are capable of combining technical skills, creative and inclusive innovation, and social awareness in a single technological product that is widely beneficial to society.

    The 38th PIMNAS is scheduled to be held on November 23–28, 2025, at Hasanuddin University, Makassar, and will be attended by hundreds of the best student teams from various universities in Indonesia. Through the achievements of the PKM-KC Netrana team, UNIKOM once again demonstrates its existence as a creative and innovative campus that continues to encourage students to create technology-based works that benefit the wider community.     UNIKOM Pers Birama Holds The “Aksara Rupa Vol.2” Journalism Festival, Presenting Inspiration And Fostering Student Creativity

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – The Student Activity Unit (UKM) Pers Birama of the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) held the Journalism Festival “Aksara Rupa Vol.2” on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Held at the 3rd floor auditorium of the Bandung Creative Hub (BCH), with the theme “The Hidden Narrative Behind the Form,” the festival served as a platform for sharing knowledge, ideas, and works in the field of journalism for students and the general public.

    The festival is also a continuation of similar activities that have been initiated since 2023, and now comes with a rebranding concept through the name “Aksara Rupa”. The General Chairperson of Pers Birama for the 2024/2025 period, Dessy Angelia Syawalani, from the Communication Studies Program, explained that the event serves as a space for the younger generation to hone their journalistic skills and broaden their horizons in the fields of writing and photography. “Aksara Rupa is a platform for channeling creativity, sharing ideas, and developing one’s potential in the world of journalism,” said Dessy.

    The series of Aksara Rupa Vol.2 activities began with a national article and photography competition open to students and the general public. The competition was judged by two judges with expertise and experience in their fields, namely Arif Try Cahyadi, M.Ds., (Lecturer from the Visual Communication Design Study Program, UNIKOM) and Dr. Eriyanti Nurmala Dewi, Dra., M.I.Kom., (Lecturer from the Communication Studies Study Program, UNIKOM). The enthusiasm of participants from various universities in Indonesia demonstrates the high level of interest in journalistic activities that are creatively and educationally packaged. As the highlight of the event, a Journalism Talk Show was held with Raisan Al-Farisi, Chair of the Indonesian Photojournalists Association (PFI) Bandung, featuring an interactive discussion session moderated by Zalfa Destryna Salma, a student of the Communication Studies Program at UNIKOM, with the theme “The Hidden Narrative Behind the Image.”

    During the session, Raisan shared his fascinating experiences in the world of photojournalism and emphasized the importance of visual power in conveying public messages. “A single photo can speak more than a thousand words, and it can even open the eyes of many parties to social conditions that need attention,” said Raisan.

    The talk show was followed by a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) divided into five groups. Participants were invited to actively participate in creating the best captions for the photos displayed, as well as presenting them to the audience. In addition, visitors were also treated to an exhibition of the contestants’ works, which featured a variety of writings on the themes of education, technology, health, politics, law, human rights, culture, and tradition. The results of the photography contest with themes ranging from human interest and street photography to photojournalism added to the appeal of the event.

    The chief organizer, Sabila Hidayati Rabbi from the Communication Studies Program, expressed her appreciation for the enthusiasm of the participants and hoped that the event would benefit all participants and visitors. “Hopefully, through the Talkshow and Aksara Rupa Journalism Festival Vol. 2, the participants can gain inspiration and new enthusiasm to continue their work,” she said.

    As a closing, the festival was enlivened by an acoustic performance from Sais Rock, adding a warm and interactive atmosphere amidst the exhibition of works. The Aksara Rupa Vol.2 event serves as real proof of Pers Birama’s commitment to fostering students’ interests and talents in journalism, while also strengthening the spirit of creativity and collaboration within the UNIKOM academic community.     KPM UNIKOM Holds Visit & Sharing at Bandung City Hall to Strengthen Protocol Professionalism

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the Student Protocol Corps (KPM) of the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) held a KPM Visit & Sharing event. Taking place at Bandung City Hall, the event served as a learning opportunity and a gathering between students and the Bandung City Government, particularly the Protocol and Leadership Communication (Prokopim) department.

    The Chief Executive, Indira Nur Rahadian Putri, expressed her appreciation in her report for the support of all parties involved in ensuring the success of the event. Furthermore, Muhammad Pradipta Waskitha, Chairman of KPM UNIKOM, emphasized that the event was a real form of KPM’s commitment to improving the capacity and professionalism of its members, particularly in the field of protocol.

    The Director of Public Relations and Protocol of UNIKOM, Dr. Ir. Yuni Mogot, M.Si., CPR., also gave a speech encouraging students to continue honing their communication, coordination, and protocol ethics skills, which are important assets in the world of work. “Through this activity, I hope that KPM UNIKOM members can learn directly from government practitioners, so that they can better understand the standards of professionalism in protocol. KPM is not merely a complement to campus activities, but also a platform for character building in terms of discipline, responsibility, and adaptive skills that will be highly beneficial when entering society or the workforce,” she concluded.

    A representative from the Bandung City Government, Budi Rahmat Taufik, AP., M.M., acting as Head of the Protocol and Communication Division of the Bandung City Leadership, also gave a warm welcome and expressed his hope that the visit would provide students with the knowledge they need to implement what they have learned.

    The series of activities then continued with a material presentation and sharing session with Prokopim Kota Bandung, Fredi Handoko, S.I.K. In this session, the participants gained in-depth insight into protocol management and the strategic role of leadership communication in regional government administration. The results can be used as a supplement and implemented in various protocol activities on campus while building a professional and integrity-based character in line with UNIKOM’s culture, namely PIQIE (Professionalism, Integrity, Quality, IT, Excellence).

    The activity concluded with a documentation session and a tour of Bandung City Hall, guided directly by the Protocol and Public Relations Office, providing participants with a valuable experience to get to know the government work environment more closely. Through this activity, it is hoped that UNIKOM’s Protocol and Public Relations Office will be better prepared to serve as the forefront in supporting protocol activities within UNIKOM, while expanding networks and enriching practical knowledge in the field of protocol.     UNIKOM Badminton Club Wins Overall Champion at 2025 Bumi Siliwangi National Tournament

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – The Badminton Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the Indonesian Computer University (UNIKOM) has once again achieved non-academic success at the 2025 Bumi Siliwangi National Badminton Championship. Held at the Sport Hall of the Indonesia University of Education (UPI) in Bandung, the event took place from August 4-9, 2025. During the event, the UNIKOM badminton team successfully won the overall championship title, bringing home 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal.

    This annual championship is a flagship event of the UPI Badminton Club, organized in collaboration with the West Java Badminton Association (PBSI). The tournament was highly competitive, featuring athletes from various universities and national badminton clubs, including representatives from the UNIKOM Badminton Club, with the following results: 1st Place Mixed Doubles: Fajar Putra Setiawan (Management) and Khashia Aqila Sasmita (Management), Second Place in Mixed Doubles: Divya Clarisa Ayuni (Management), and First Place in Men’s Doubles: Fajar Putra Setiawan (Management).

    The series of activities began with registration and a technical meeting, followed by the preliminary round, quarterfinals, semifinals, and a lively final match. In addition to being a competition for achievement, the event also served as a means to strengthen ties between universities, improve the quality of young athletes, and reinforce the image of universities as centers for sports development.

    The Director of Student Affairs at UNIKOM and Advisor to the UNIKOM Badminton Club, Andrias Darmayadi, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., expressed his pride and appreciation for the team’s achievements. “Alhamdulillah, the Badminton Club has once again achieved a proud accomplishment by winning the Overall Champion title at the 2025 Bumi Siliwangi National Championship. Following their previous achievements at the UNY FEST CUP 2025, I extend my highest appreciation to all athletes, the coaching staff, and officials for their hard work. This achievement serves as a beautiful gift for UNIKOM on its 25th anniversary. I hope the Badminton Club can consistently contribute to achievements at the regional, national, and even international levels,” he concluded.

    Through these achievements, the UNIKOM Badminton Club has further established itself as one of the leading student sports organizations in Indonesia, while also demonstrating UNIKOM’s commitment to supporting the development of student potential in both academic and non-academic fields.
