BANDUNG, UNIKOM — Awareness of the importance of regular health checkups is a crucial step in maintaining quality of life. Body composition analysis not only helps determine current health but also serves as an early detection for various potential non-communicable diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and high cholesterol. Consequently, Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), through the UNIKOM Medical Center, held a Body Composition Analysis (BCA) health screening event on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Held at the UNIKOM Health Clinic, the event is part of a wellness program intended for the entire academic community, including faculty, staff, and students.
In an interview, dr. Mutia Utami, a physician at the UNIKOM Medical Clinic, explained that BCA is a standard method for comprehensively assessing body composition. This examination covers various key indicators, such as fat mass, muscle mass, body water content, and bone/mineral mass, as well as BMI and BMR. “This examination is open to everyone, not limited to faculty members but also available to students. The goal is to detect early signs of risk factors for serious diseases such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and high cholesterol,” she explained.
Furthermore, dr. Mutia added that based on the analysis results, participants can better understand their body condition in greater detail, including whether their weight is ideal or classified as obese, and how fat is distributed throughout the body.
This event received a very positive response from the UNIKOM academic community. The high level of enthusiasm among participants reflects a growing awareness of the importance of regular health screenings. “The enthusiasm is very high because screenings like this are rarely available for free. They are usually paid services or only available at specific locations like gyms, which are not accessible to everyone,” dr. Mutia stated.
At the end of the interview, dr. Mutia shared a message with the entire UNIKOM academic community to be more mindful of their health. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between daily activities and a healthy lifestyle. “Everyone already knows the theory of healthy living. It’s about putting it into practice. Maintain a work-life balance, eat healthy foods, exercise regularly, and get routine checkups. Take advantage of the health facilities available on campus to prevent serious illnesses,” she advised.
Through this BCA health screening, UNIKOM demonstrates its commitment to supporting the health and well-being of its academic community by providing accessible and high-quality healthcare services. (Directorate of Hms & Pro)
