    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – The commitment of the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) to strengthening academic quality while expanding collaborative networks among universities continues to be realized through various strategic partnerships. On Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the Doctoral Program in Information Systems at UNIKOM’s Postgraduatehosted a benchmarking visit from the Darmajaya Institute of Informatics and Business (IIB) in Lampung in the 12th-floor conference room of UNIKOM’s Smart Building. The event aimed to open up broader and sustainable opportunities for collaboration in support of improving the quality of education, research, scientific publications, and the development of academic resources.

    Also present at the event were members of UNIKOM’s leadership, including the Dean of UNIKOM’s Faculty of Postgraduate, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rahma Wahdiniwaty, Dra., M.Si., and the Chair of the Doctoral Program in Information Systems (DSI), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus Nursikuwagus, S.T., M.T., M.M., Director of Journals and Scientific Publications, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Poni Sukaesih Kurniati, S.IP., M.Si., and Director of Quality Assurance, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ely Suhayati, S.E., M.Si., Ak. CA. Meanwhile, representatives from IIB Darmajaya Lampung included the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sutedi, S.Kom., M.T.I.; the Director of the Graduate School, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Said Hasibuan, M.Kom.; the Chair of the Doctoral Program in Informatics, Prof. Ir. Suhendro Yusuf Irianto, M.Kom., Ph.D.; Head of the Quality Assurance Agency, Zaidir Jamal, S.T., M.Eng.

    The Dean of the UNIKOM Faculty of Postgraduate, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rahma Wahdiniwaty, Dra., M.Si., expressed her appreciation for IIB Darmajaya’s visit to UNIKOM in her opening remarks. She noted that the meeting served as an important opportunity for both institutions to learn about each other’s governance structures, share experiences, and identify areas for collaboration that could be developed in a more concrete manner. She also explained that UNIKOM’s Postgraduate plays a role in managing educational programs at the master’s and doctoral levels. Currently, UNIKOM’s Postgraduateoversees two doctoral programs, one of which is the Doctoral Program in Information Systems, which plays a vital role in the development of technology- and information systems-based higher education.

    According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rahma, the administration of doctoral education at UNIKOM is supported by various strategic units at both the university and faculty levels. The involvement of several directorates in these activities including those responsible for publications and journals, the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), partnerships, and international programs is part of UNIKOM’s efforts to build an integrated academic ecosystem. Additionally, she noted, “In the Doctoral Program in Information Systems, we ensure that the faculty members involved possess the necessary expertise in the field of Information Systems. This is a crucial aspect of maintaining the quality of the educational process and ensuring that students receive instruction aligned with their field of study,” he said.

    Meanwhile, the Chair of the Doctoral Program in Information Systems at UNIKOM’s Graduate School, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus Nursikuwagus, S.T., M.T., expressed his appreciation for the visit by the IIB Darmajaya delegation to UNIKOM. He noted that the visit provided a valuable opportunity for the Doctoral Program in Information Systems to showcase its academic environment while fostering closer communication with partner institutions. Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus expressed gratitude for IIB Darmajaya’s trust in selecting UNIKOM as a benchmarking site. He also introduced the academic staff and support personnel present at the event as part of an effort to facilitate a more comprehensive discussion.

    Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus also explained that the event involved not only the faculty of the Doctoral Program in Information Systems but also a number of supporting units within UNIKOM. The presence of leadership and directors was expected to broaden the scope of discussion so that benchmarking would not be limited to program management but would also address various aspects supporting the delivery of higher education. He emphasized that cross-unit collaboration is crucial because the development of a doctoral program cannot be separated from support across various areas—ranging from quality assurance, publications and journals, research, to the development of academic partnerships. “We are striving to bring together colleagues from various units involved in academic administration. The hope is that this discussion will be more comprehensive and that the faculty and staff from IIB Darmajaya can gain a more complete picture of how the academic ecosystem and support systems for the Doctoral Program in Information Systems at UNIKOM operate,” he added.

    Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at IIB Darmajaya, Dr. Sutedi, stated that the visit to UNIKOM is part of IIB Darmajaya’s efforts to strengthen its readiness to implement the doctoral program, which is relatively new at the institution. He explained that IIB Darmajaya chose UNIKOM as one of its benchmarking references because of its strong academic reputation and experience in delivering doctoral-level education. “We came to UNIKOM, of course, with the intention of learning, particularly regarding the governance of the doctoral program. As it happens, the doctoral program we are developing is still relatively new, and last July we received official approval to implement the program. Therefore, we feel it is necessary to learn from universities that already have experience in managing doctoral programs,” said Dr. Sutedi.

    According to Dr. Sutedi, the fact that the doctoral program developed by IIB Darmajaya is one of the relatively new programs in its region makes benchmarking activities particularly important. Limited experience and resources during the early stages of program development are the reasons why IIB Darmajaya is expanding its learning through visits to various universities that have longer experience in managing doctoral education. He also noted that UNIKOM is a relevant institution to serve as a reference because, in addition to its well-established reputation, it has a number of academics with experience and expertise in fields relevant to the development of the doctoral program at IIB Darmajaya. Furthermore, he added that the process of developing a doctoral program requires continuous learning, particularly in establishing governance structures, ensuring academic quality, developing faculty resources, and strengthening research and publications. To that end, the experience gained from UNIKOM is expected to serve as a vital foundation for IIB Darmajaya in developing a high-quality and sustainable doctoral program. “We recognize that there are still various resource constraints in developing a doctoral program. Therefore, we greatly need insights and experience from universities that have already implemented such programs. Hopefully, what we have learned from UNIKOM today can be applied and further developed on our campus,” he concluded.

    This hope aligns with UNIKOM’s commitment to using benchmarking as a gateway to broader collaboration. The exchange of experiences between the two institutions is expected to evolve into various joint academic activities that provide direct benefits to faculty, students, researchers, and the institutions as a whole.

    During the discussion session, the two institutions then addressed several key aspects of higher education administration, ranging from curriculum development and the learning process, program management, student admissions and services, research and scholarly publications, to the development of partnerships and internationalization. The discussion took place in an open and constructive atmosphere, emphasizing the exchange of experiences as a vital component in identifying higher education development strategies that are increasingly adaptable to the changing times.

    The UNIKOM benchmarking activity with IIB Darmajaya is expected to be more than just an institutional visit; rather, it is intended to serve as a catalyst for building closer academic ties and opening up broader opportunities for collaboration driven by a spirit of knowledge sharing, strengthening synergy, and fostering innovation. It is hoped that UNIKOM and IIB Darmajaya will continue to develop productive and sustainable cooperation, while making a tangible contribution to the advancement of higher education in Indonesia.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM — In August 2026, the Doctoral Program in Management Science, Faculty of Postgraduate, Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), once again achieved academic success and produced two new doctors through the success of Dr. Windi Novianti, S.E., M.M., and Dr. Yadi Maryadi, S.E., M.Si. Both were declared graduates after defending their dissertations before the Promoter Team and the Examining Team. The Doctoral Promotion Defense for Dr. Windi Novianti, S.E., M.M., was held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, while Dr. Yadi Maryadi, S.E., M.Si., participated in the defense on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Both defenses were led directly by the Rector of UNIKOM, Prof. 3 Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T., as Promoter and Chair of the Doctoral Promotion Defense.

    Dr. Windi Novianti Examines Generation Z Investment Decisions

    During her dissertation defense, Dr. Windi presented her dissertation entitled “Keputusan Investasi Gen Z Melalui Bias Perilaku: Pendekatan Keuangan Keperilakuan dalam Konteks Paparan Media Sosial, Literasi Keuangan, dan Ekspektasi Keuntungan (Survey pada Mahasiswa Perguruan Tinggi yang Memiliki Galeri Investasi di Wilayah Jawa Barat)” (Gen Z Investment Decisions Through Behavioral Bias: A Behavioral Finance Approach in the Context of Social Media Exposure, Financial Literacy, and Profit Expectations (Survey of University Students with Investment Galleries in West Java)). The topic focused on Generation Z’s investment decision-making behavior, using a behavioral finance approach that considered social media exposure, financial literacy, and profit expectations.

    Dr. Windi was supervised by Prof. 3 Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T., as her Promoter, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus Riyanto, S.T., M.T., CSBA., as her Co-Promoter. To defend her research, she presented her dissertation briefly before facing questions and feedback from the examining panel, which included Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Narimawati, Dra., S.E., M.Sc., Prof. Dr. H. Nugraha, S.E., Ak., M.Sc., CA, CPA., CFP, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yoyok Prasetyo, S.T., M.Sy., and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Isniar Budiarti, S.E., M.Sc. After going through a series of evaluations, she was declared to have passed the Doctoral Promotion Examination. In this doctoral promotion defense, Dr. Windi was recorded as the 4th Doctor in the Doctoral Program in Management, Faculty of Postgraduate, UNIKOM.

    On this occasion, Dr. Windi expressed her gratitude for successfully completing her doctoral education at UNIKOM. Her academic journey at UNIKOM began with her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Management, and then continued her doctoral education at the Doctoral Program in Management. Currently, Dr. Windi also serves as a permanent lecturer at UNIKOM. “Alhamdulillah, this is the culmination of my entire study program. The process was extraordinary, overcoming various challenges, until I finally achieved the highest level of education, a doctoral degree,” she said. She considers the hybrid learning system at UNIKOM to be a convenience during her studies, especially for students residing outside Bandung.

    Dr. Yadi Maryadi Studies Higher Education Performance in the Digital Era

    In the same month, the Doctoral Program in Management Science held another Doctoral Promotion Defense. On that occasion, Dr. Yadi defended his dissertation entitled “Model Kinerja Perguruan Tinggi Swasta Berbasis Kepemimpinan Digital dan Sistem Informasi Manajemen Melalui Budaya Organisasi Sebagai Variabel Mediasi di Lingkungan LLDIKTI Wilayah II” (A Performance Model of Private Higher Education Institutions Based on Digital Leadership and Management Information Systems Through Organizational Culture as a Mediating Variable in the LLDIKTI Region II Environment). Dr. Yadi’s dissertation examined the performance model of private higher education institutions, highlighting digital leadership and management information systems and positioning organizational culture as a mediating variable.

    During the defense, Dr. Yadi was examined by Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Narimawati, Dra., SE., M.Sc., Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ir. Herman S. Soegoto, MBA., Dr. Elvera, SE, M.Sc., and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deden Abdul Wahab Sya’roni, Ir., M.Sc. The dissertation was supervised by Prof. 3 Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T., as Promoter, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Isniar Budiarti, SE., M.Si., as Co-Promoter. After presenting his dissertation and answering various questions and responses from the Examining Team and Promoter Team, Dr. Yadi was declared to have passed the Doctoral Promotion Defense. He became the 5th Doctor in the Doctoral Program in Management Science, Faculty of Postgraduate, UNIKOM.

    On this occasion, Dr. Yadi expressed his gratitude for the smooth running of the Doctoral Promotion, which was the culmination of his academic journey. He expressed his appreciation to the UNIKOM Rector, leaders, lecturers, promoters, and all parties who provided support, facilities, prayers, and guidance throughout his studies. He stated that the hybrid learning system at UNIKOM facilitates the ease of attending both online and offline lectures, especially since he is from Pagar Alam. He hopes the knowledge gained will benefit himself, his family, society, nation, and state, and encourages his fellow DIM Batch 1 colleagues to quickly complete their studies and earn doctorates together.

    In his dissertation, Dr. Yadi researched a performance model for private higher education institutions based on digital leadership and management information systems, with organizational culture as a mediating variable for the performance of private higher education institutions in LLDIKTI Region II. He chose this topic because it is relevant to the ongoing digital transformation process in LLDIKTI Region II, with the hope that the research results can contribute to improving the performance of private higher education institutions.

    Two Dissertations, Two Perspectives to Address Contemporary Management Challenges

    The success of Dr. Windi and Dr. Yadi demonstrates the diversity of issues explored through doctoral studies in the Doctoral Program in Management UNIKOM.

    Dr. Windi presented a study on Generation Z investment decisions and behavioral finance, while Dr. Yadi examined the performance of private universities in the context of digital leadership, management information systems, and organizational culture. These two themes have different contexts, but both stem from evolving management issues amidst changes in the organizational and societal environment. This momentum also serves as part of the academic development journey of the Doctoral Program in Management at the Faculty of Postgraduate UNIKOM. With the addition of two new doctors, UNIKOM continues to encourage the development of academics with scientific capacity and the ability to produce research-based studies.

    UNIKOM Commends the Achievements of Two New Doctorates

    The Doctoral Promotion not only marks the final stage of the academic journey, but also serves as a significant milestone for their families, promoters, examiners, and the academic community who have supported their doctoral education.

    After being declared successful, the two new doctors received their Certificates of Passing the Doctoral Promotion and participated in a group photo session with the Promoter Team, the Examiners Team, and their families. The event concluded with the presentation of their impressions, messages, and hopes from the promoters, as well as expressions of gratitude from each of the new doctors.

    Prof. 3. Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T., expressed his gratitude and pride for the successful Doctoral Promotion in Management, attended by Dr. Windi and Dr. Yadi. Both were declared successful in completing all academic stages, from study, research, and dissertation, to closed examinations, and open examinations, as part of the academic achievements in UNIKOM’s Doctoral Program in Management. This success is a source of pride for UNIKOM and demonstrates the students’ commitment and perseverance in completing their doctoral studies. Prof. Eddy hopes that the achievements of these two doctors will inspire and motivate other students in the Doctoral Program in Management Science who are currently working on their dissertations to quickly complete their studies and follow in the footsteps of their predecessors.

    According to Prof. Eddy, the prospective doctors’ study journeys prove that distance and busy schedules are not obstacles to achieving a doctoral degree. UNIKOM’s hybrid learning system facilitates students, especially those from outside the region, to attend lectures, receive guidance, and communicate effectively with their supervisors and the examining team. The use of digital technology is part of UNIKOM’s efforts to provide an educational process that is adaptive, flexible, and relevant to current developments. Prof. Eddy also congratulated Dr. Windi Novianti, S.E., M.M., and Dr. Yadi Maryadi, S.E., M.Si., on this achievement and expressed his hope that the knowledge and research findings gained during their doctoral studies will make a contribution to the development of science, the institution, and society.

    UNIKOM Doctoral Program in Management Empowers Sukasari Coffee Farmers to Meet SNI Standards and Reach Global Market

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – As competition continues to increase in the digital era, Cijerah Market is trying to adapt with new marketing strategies. One concrete step was carried out through a Smartphone Photography Training held at the Temporary Merchant Shelter (TPPS), CTC Building on August 5-6, 2025. This activity was part of the Community Service Program (PKM) BIMA Kemdiktisaintek under the 2025 Community Empowerment Partnership scheme, with Dr. Yully Ambarsih Ekawardhani, M.Sn., as the chairperson, and supported by Dr. Taufan Hidayatullah, M.Ds., from the Master of Design Study Program, and Ivan Kurniawan, M.Ds., a UNIKOM Graphic Design lecturer. The activity partner is APPETRA (Association of Traditional Market Traders) of Bandung City, which from the beginning has provided an overview of the condition of Cijerah Market, which has been established since 1982 and is now inhabited by the second to third generation of traders.

    According to Dr. Yully, the main objective of the training was to improve the quality of product photos so that merchants could make better use of social media for promotion. “Good photos not only show the product, but also evoke the emotions of buyers and highlight the uniqueness of the products,” she explained.

    The Head of the Master of Design Study Program, Dr. Taufan Hidayatullah, M.Ds., opened the training activity together with the Head of APPETRA Bandung City, H. Muslim Arief, and the Director of PT Mitra Karya Prospekta (MKP), Nurcholis Hakim. A total of 23 Cijerah Market traders, both from the second generation and Generation Z who are now continuing the family business, participated in the activity with great enthusiasm.

    In the first session, Dr. Yully presented material on the importance of persuasive communication to strengthen product image in the digital space. She emphasized the use of effective promotional language so that the message reaches and attracts the attention of potential buyers.

    The next session was led by Ivan Kurniawan, M.Ds., who equipped participants with technical photography skills using smartphone cameras. Participants were taught how to utilize simple features such as focus settings, lighting, and composition. Participants also practiced making simple lightboxes from used cardboard and makeshift lamps, allowing them to produce professional-quality product photos at minimal cost.

    To conclude, participants were asked to produce photos of their merchandise. The works were then curated to select the best results. Through this PKM activity, Cijerah Market merchants not only gained new skills but also became better prepared to face marketing challenges in the digital era. With the support of higher-quality product photography, they are optimistic about expanding their market reach and enhancing their competitiveness in the face of modern competition.
