BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting technology-based educational transformation through its Community Service program. In collaboration with SDIT Insan Cermat, UNIKOM organized a training program titled “Optimizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Interactive Content Acceleration, Student Dynamics Analysis, and Strengthening Teacher Communication at SDIT Insan Cermat: Building a Generation of Visionary and Synergistic Digital Teachers.” Held at SDIT Insan Cermat on Jalan Cigagak, Cipadung, Bandung City, from May 13–15, 2026, the program marked a concrete step toward enhancing teachers’ digital competencies, enabling them to utilize AI wisely, effectively, and professionally in the learning process.
The program was carefully scheduled by the UNIKOM Community Service team to align with the academic calendar of the partner school, ensuring that teaching and learning activities were not disrupted. This approach reflects UNIKOM’s commitment to delivering community service programs that are not only impactful but also responsive to the needs and circumstances of educational institutions.
Strengthening teachers’ capacities was the primary focus of the program. Amid the rapid advancement of digital technology, educators are expected not only to use technology but also to integrate it into the learning process creatively, adaptively, and uphold educational values. Through this training, UNIKOM offered practical solutions to reduce the administrative burden that often consumes teachers’ time, allowing them to focus more on supporting students’ academic achievement and character development.
On this occasion, the Head of the Community Service Committee, Angga Setiyadi, M.Kom., CITPM., stated that the teachers’ enthusiasm reflected their readiness to embrace an AI-powered educational ecosystem. “We are very proud to see that the teachers are now proficient in transforming passive documents into interactive learning assets, such as quizzes and flashcards, through NotebookLM, and are able to conduct more objective, data-driven analyses of students’ psychological development. This demonstrates that the teachers at SDIT Insan Cermat are ready to position themselves as intelligent assistants and primary validators within an AI-powered educational ecosystem,” he said.
The program began with opening remarks from representatives of the SDIT Insan Cermat Foundation and the school administration, followed by intensive, application-based training sessions featuring hands-on practice, simulations, discussions, and case studies. Participants were given the opportunity to apply various AI tools to address real-world challenges commonly encountered in the school environment.
The training featured UNIKOM academics and practitioners with expertise in digital technology and AI. In the first session, Deputy Vice Rector IV, Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D., together with Dian Dharmayanti, S.T., M.Kom., Head of UNIKOM’s Codelabs Division, guided participants in optimizing NotebookLM to transform learning materials into more interactive, effective, and engaging teaching resources that are easier for students to understand. The following session, led by Angga Setiyadi, M.Kom., CITPM., and Eko Budi Setiawan, S.Kom., M.Kom., explored the application of AI in improving communication related to student learning outcomes, including the development of report card narratives that are more informative, objective, and easier for parents to understand. Subsequently, Irfan Maliki, S.T., M.T., CITPM., and Sugeng, S.Kom., M.T., introduced participants to Canva AI and Gemini Canvas, demonstrating how these tools can be used to create more engaging and creative digital learning media that enhance student engagement throughout the learning process.
Complementing these sessions, Yayah Sutisnawati, S.E., M.M., a lecturer from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UNIKOM, together with Mari Maryati, S.E., M.M., delivered a session on data-driven analysis of student psychological dynamics. Through this approach, teachers were equipped with the skills to interpret students’ behavioral development more objectively, without stigmatizing or labeling them, thereby fostering more inclusive, humanistic, and student-centered learning environments. Throughout the training, the teachers demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm. Participants actively practiced developing instructional materials using Gemini Canvas, converting learning documents into quizzes and flashcards through NotebookLM, and creating various forms of digital learning media ready for classroom implementation. These activities reflected the teachers’ readiness to integrate AI into their daily teaching practices.
In addition to enhancing digital competencies, the training also provided benefits in strengthening communication between schools and parents. By utilizing AI, teachers were able to summarize complex report card data into clear and easily understandable narratives while objectively analyzing students’ progress, making the evaluation process more accurate, efficient, and focused on supporting each student’s development. The Principal of SDIT Insan Cermat, Muhammad Iqbal, S.H., M.H., expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with UNIKOM. He emphasized that AI can significantly improve the quality of educational services when its implementation is balanced with teachers’ professionalism. “I hope that the efficiency created through AI will always be accompanied by teachers’ careful judgment as the primary validators, ensuring that every piece of content delivered to students remains accurate and aligned with the intended learning objectives,” he stated.
The Chairman of the SDIT Insan Cermat Foundation, Dr. H. Endang Jumali, Lc., M.A., M.Sc., IFP., CRFA., emphasized that technological proficiency has become an essential competency for educators in addressing future educational challenges. “Through a deeper understanding of the technologies introduced in this training, teachers will be better equipped to guide students toward becoming adaptive, creative, and innovative individuals who are well prepared to face future challenges,” he said.
Through this Community Service at SDIT Insan Cermat, UNIKOM once again reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the transformation of national education through the responsible use of digital technology and AI. In line with UNIKOM’s vision as a Digital Entrepreneurial University and an AI-Ready Campus, this initiative not only strengthens teachers’ competencies in utilizing AI as an intelligent assistant but also reinforces the indispensable role of educators as directors, decision-makers, and primary validators throughout the learning process. BANDUNG, UNIKOM – As a university with the vision of becoming a Digital Entrepreneurial University, the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) continues to strengthen its contribution to society through the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. This commitment is realized through Community Service (PkM) activities organized by faculty members of the Accounting Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UNIKOM, by providing guidance to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) specifically, batik artisans from Garutan on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Jalan Pasir Pogor, Kampung Sayuran RT 04/RW 07, Paminggir Village, Garut Kota District.
The event, coordinated by Dr. Surtikanti, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., as the Executive Chair, was attended by the Dean of UNIKOM’s Faculty of Economics and Business, Prof. Dr. Siti Kurnia Rahayu, S.E., M.Ak., Ak., CA., and was also joined by all faculty members of UNIKOM’s Accounting Program. The faculty team’s presence was not merely to deliver academic material but to serve as strategic partners who listened to the needs of MSME practitioners, shared experiences, and provided guidance and mentoring to strengthen sustainable business management.
On this occasion, the Dean of the UNIKOM Faculty of Economics and Business, Prof. Dr. Siti Kurnia Rahayu, S.E., M.Ak., Ak., CA., expressed her appreciation to the Chairperson of the Garutan Batik Artisans Association and all SME operators for their warm welcome of the UNIKOM faculty team.
The series of activities then continued with a lively and interactive discussion session, during which the artisans shared various experiences regarding business development, market opportunities, and the challenges they face in preserving Garut Batik as one of Indonesia’s cultural treasures.
Garut Batik itself holds immense economic and cultural potential. The uniqueness of its motifs, production processes whether through hand-drawn or printed batik techniques—and innovative use of various materials give Garut Batik a strong competitive edge in both national and international markets. However, behind every piece of batik fabric rich in artistic value, the artisans still face various challenges in ensuring the sustainability of their businesses. One fact that emerged during the discussion was that some batik production units have had to relocate their operations to Tasikmalaya as a strategy to maintain business operations.
In addition to discussing production and marketing aspects, this event also identified a fundamental challenge still faced by most MSME operators: suboptimal management of administrative and financial record-keeping for their businesses. Until now, both production costs and sales revenue have been managed in a rudimentary manner. Business income is often used directly to meet household needs, causing business capital and profits to become intermingled without clear record-keeping. This situation makes it difficult for SME owners to accurately determine business profits or plan for future business development.
In response to this situation, Prof. Dr. Lilis Puspitawati, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., provided education on the importance of financial literacy as the primary foundation for business sustainability. “Financial record-keeping is often viewed as unimportant, complicated, or even a hassle. Unbeknownst to many, this is actually the key to ensuring a business can survive and thrive in the long run,” said Prof. Lilis.
Furthermore, Prof. Lilis emphasized that the first step MSME owners must take is to strictly separate business finances from personal or family finances. With proper record-keeping, business owners can objectively assess their financial condition, accurately calculate production costs, and make more informed business decisions. In addition, Prof. Lilis also expressed her hope that this event would mark the beginning of a sustainable collaboration between universities and the community to enhance the capacity of MSME owners, enabling them to grow professionally, adaptively, and competitively, without compromising the cultural values that define Garut Batik’s identity.
As a symbol of this close synergy and partnership, the event concluded with the presentation of a commemorative gift to the Chairperson of the Garut Batik MSME Association, Mrs. Ai Hendrayani, by the Head of the UNIKOM Bachelor of Accounting Program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sri Dewi Anggadini, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., together with the Head of the Associate Degree in Accounting Program at UNIKOM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wati Aris Astuti, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA.
Through the Community Service activities of the Accounting program, UNIKOM reaffirms its commitment to continuously providing impactful education through the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The mentoring provided to Garut Batik MSMEs aims not only to improve the financial management skills of the artisans but also to strengthen the sustainability of businesses rooted in local culture, enabling them to grow into resilient, independent, and competitive MSMEs. In line with the PIQIE culture (Professionalism, Integrity, Quality, Information Technology, and Excellence) which serves as the foundation for the institution’s development UNIKOM continues to foster the creation of various community service programs that provide tangible solutions for society.
