Directorate of Incubator Business & MSME UNIKOM Holds Product Packaging Design Training to Strengthen Students’ Entrepreneurial Competence

BANDUNG, UNIKOM — To comprehensively equip students with entrepreneurship competencies oriented towards the needs of the business world, the Business Incubator & MSME Directorate (INBISKOM) of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) held a training program on product packaging design and development on December 23-24, 2025, and January 2, 2026. Held at the Miracle Auditorium on Campus I UNIKOM, the training program was attended by all students in the odd semester of the 2025-2026 academic year and was part of the compulsory Entrepreneurship course, which was designed to strengthen students’ practical competencies while making a real contribution to the development of MSMEs and start-up entrepreneurs.

The Director of INBISKOM UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. Lilis Puspitawati, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., emphasized that product packaging plays a strategic role in building added value and business competitiveness. She highlighted that packaging not only functions as product protection but also as a communication medium that shapes consumer perception. “Packaging is not just a wrapper; it is the first impression seen by consumers. Attractive, neat packaging that aligns with the product’s character can enhance trust and sales value,” she explained.

Furthermore, Prof. Lilis said that through the integration of this training into the Entrepreneurship Course, participants are expected to not only understand business concepts theoretically but also be able to apply them directly in developing market-ready products. This approach is considered important for fostering an adaptive and innovative entrepreneurial spirit.

Irwan Tarmawan, S.Sn., M.Ds, Lecturer in Visual Communication Design (DKV), was present at the event as a trainer. The material presented included basic packaging design concepts, brand identity strengthening, and simple packaging design practices tailored to product characteristics and market needs.

Through this design training activity, INBISKOM UNIKOM reaffirmed its commitment to implementing practice-based entrepreneurship education and encouraging the emergence of young entrepreneurs and MSME actors who are able to compete sustainably amid the increasingly competitive dynamics of industry and the market.
