UNIKOM Library Directorate Holds Mental Health Workshop “Write It Out: Stress Less, Write It more with Your Best Friend”

BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Thursday, October 23, 2025, the Library Directorate of the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) held a Mental Health Workshop entitled “Write It Out: Stress Less, Write It More with Your Best Friend”. Held at the UNIKOM Miracle Auditorium, the event was a collaboration between the UNIKOM Library, the UNIKOM BKKLA Division (Guidance Counseling, Career, Graduates, and Alumni), and GenerasiCakap, a startup in the field of psychology and education focused on mental and emotional development.

The workshop also received support from SK Holiday as a sponsor, which provided hotel vouchers as prizes for participants and organizers. Sponsor support is a form of positive synergy between the world of education and the industrial sector in supporting literacy and mental well-being on campus. The workshop was attended by 100 participants consisting of lecturers, educational staff, and UNIKOM students, including recipients of the UNIKOM Library Annual Award for their active use of print and digital collections, as well as online and offline visits. The Chief Executive, Nurriska Amalina, S.Pd., explained in her report that the event was held to commemorate Reading Interest Promotion Day on October 25 and World Mental Health Day on October 10.

The event was also arranged with the giving of Annual Rewards to the best library users, visitor rating winners, and most frequent borrowers in 2025. According to Nurriska, the awards are a form of appreciation from the UNIKOM Library to its “library friends” who faithfully utilize its services and facilities. She hopes that this event will be the first step in increasing awareness of mental health and the ability to deal with life’s pressures more strongly and wisely. The series of activities was officially opened by the Director of the UNIKOM Library, Ubudiyah Setiawati, M.I.Kom. In her opening remarks, she said that the workshop was a continuation of the previous program, “Campus Counseling Friends,” and was a form of collaboration between the Library Directorate and the BKKLA Division, as well as expanding the collaboration network with GenerasiCakap.

The event continued with the announcement and presentation of awards to the winners of the 2025 UNIKOM Library Reward, followed by the main session by GenerasiCakap featuring two speakers, Nur Anugerah, M.Psi., Psychologist, CEC and Livita Chandra, RN, PGDipPT.

In the first session themed “Emotions and Stress,” participants were invited to write reflectively about their feelings using a special sheet provided by GenerasiCakap as a way to recognize, understand, and manage stress. According to Nur Anugerah, the method of expressive writing can be a simple but effective means of relieving emotional pressure. “When we write about what we feel, we are helping ourselves process our emotions and find a new perspective on problems,” said Nur.

The second session, themed “Stress Management and Expressive Writing Therapy,” was presented by Livita Chandra, RN., PGDipPT., who discussed practical strategies for recognizing sources of stress and managing them positively through writing therapy. Participants were divided into small groups for a sharing session, where they shared their personal experiences and discussed solutions that could be applied together.
The atmosphere was warm and empathetic, with participants encouraging and supporting each other emotionally. The participants were enthusiastic throughout the event. Many participants voluntarily shared their writing and experiences in dealing with stress, both in their academic and personal lives. Some of them even shed tears as they wrote and read their emotional reflections. Through this activity, the UNIKOM academic community is expected to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of maintaining mental health and fostering a positive culture on campus. The workshop also underscores the role of the UNIKOM Library as a dynamic, innovative information center that cares about the psychological well-being of its users. (Directorate of Hms & Pro)
