BANDUNG, UNIKOM — Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) held a welcoming ceremony for the visit of the Shizuoka Prefecture Official Delegation, Japan, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Held at the 17th Floor Auditorium of the UNIKOM Smart Building, the visit was a strategic agenda in strengthening international partnership relations, particularly with the Shizuoka legislative body. The welcoming event was the result of collaboration between the faculties at UNIKOM, including the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), the Faculty of Humanities (FIB), and the Faculty of Law (FH).
Also present at the event were distinguished guests, including the Chairman of PERSADA West Java, who is also a central figure in the Indonesia-Japan alumni network, Dr. H. Agus Suherman Suryadimulya, M.A., Chairman of LPIH (Indonesian-Hamamatsu Friendship Association), Ota Keita, along with the Shizuoka Prefecture Delegation led by the chairman, Nakazawa Kimihiko.
The arrival of the Shizuoka Prefecture delegation was welcomed directly by the Rector of UNIKOM and Chairman of APTISI Region IV West Java, Prof. 3 Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T., accompanied by Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Narimawati, Dra., SE., M.Si., Vice Rector II for Resources, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus Riyanto, S.T., M.T., CSBA., Vice Rector IV for Digital Technology & ICT, International Programs & Center of Excellence, Prof. Zainal Arifin Hasibuan, MLS., Ph.D., Dean of FEB, Prof. Dr. Siti Kurnia Rahayu, S.E. M.Ak., Ak, CA., Dean of FISIP, who is also the chair of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hj. Dewi Kurniasih, S.IP., M.Si., Dean of FIB, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Soni Mulyawan Setiana, S.Pd, M.Pd, CIRR., and Dean of FH, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hetty Hassanah, S.H., M.H.
Prof. Eddy expressed his appreciation and respect for the official visit of the Shizuoka Prefecture Delegation. He explained that UNIKOM, as a university that has a Japanese Literature Study Program and has produced many alumni who have careers in Japan, views this visit as an important moment to expand cooperation. As the Chairman of APTISI West Java, which oversees 355 private universities, he also said that APTISI is preparing a strategic program related to sending Indonesian students and alumni to work in Japan, which will be discussed at the APTISI national meeting at TMII Jakarta on November 17-18, 2025. “This visit is an extraordinary opportunity to strengthen relations between Indonesia and Japan, while opening up broader opportunities for collaboration in the fields of education and international job placement,” said Prof. Eddy.
Furthermore, the Chairman of PERSADA West Java, Dr. H. Agus Suherman Suryadimulya, M.A., said, “On this occasion, we are here because our hearts are set on UNIKOM as one of my favorite private universities in West Java. Therefore, I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation for the extraordinary welcome given to us by UNIKOM,” he said. He also conveyed that UNIKOM had been brought and introduced in an international forum in Japan, specifically at an international seminar at Kyushu Sangyo University, Fukuoka, Japan.
The activity continued with a presentation by the chairman of the Shizuoka Prefecture council, Nakazawa Kimihiko, who shared information about “The Charms of Shizuoka.” He explained the various potentials and advantages of Shizuoka Prefecture, including an overview of the region and its population, the development of industries and large companies operating there, the manufacturing sector which is the backbone of the regional economy, and the modern and integrated transportation infrastructure. The presentation provided comprehensive insights into the characteristics of Shizuoka and the opportunities for collaboration that can be developed with educational institutions in Indonesia, particularly UNIKOM.
In addition, the discussion session provided a comprehensive overview of opportunities to strengthen academic and cultural relations, and educational exchange programs between West Java and Shizuoka Prefecture. The event then continued with an art performance by the Japanese Literature Student Association, as a form of cultural preservation and cultural diplomacy.
Through the official visit from the Delegation of the Shizuoka Prefecture to UNIKOM, UNIKOM reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its network and strengthening international collaboration oriented towards improving the quality of education, research, and cultural exchange between Indonesia and Japan.
