BANDUNG, UNIKOM — Monday, July 28, 2025, the Graphic Design Study Program at the Indonesian Computer University (UNIKOM) held an International Community Service (PKM) event entitled “International Community Service and Empowerment for SDIT Al Irsyad Al-Islamiyah and Elementary School of Malaysia”. Held at SDIT Al Irsyad Al-Islamiyah Bandung, the event featured the theme “Introduction to Design for Elementary School,” showcasing cross-border collaboration between Indonesia and Malaysia.
The event involved 44 students, consisting of 29 students from SDIT Al Irsyad Al-Islamiyah Bandung and 15 students from seven elementary schools in Malaysia, including Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar, SJKT Ladang Highland Klang, SK Timbua Ranau Sabah, SK Sri Serdang, SJKT Ladang Vallambrosa, and SJKT Kuala Terla Cameron Highland.
Led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rini Maulina, S.Sn., M.Sn., as the Head of PKM, the workshop presented material delivered by competent lecturers, including: Deni Albar, S.Sn., M.Ds., Ryanty Derwentyana Nazhar, M.Ds., Adityo B. Hardoyo, S.Sn., M.Ds., and Achmad Deptian Djenuari Rizky, M.Ds., and supported by team members, Arlene Marliana, A.Md.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rini stated on the occasion, “Through a fun interactive educational approach, participants were introduced to the basics of visual design, interior design, photography, and comics. The goal is not only to increase knowledge, but also to empower elementary schools as partners in the development of creativity and design-based education,” she said. The activity served as a platform for the exchange of insights and culture from an early age, instilling the understanding that design is not merely a work of art, but also a means to inspire, solve problems, and create a better environment. This international collaboration strengthens UNIKOM’s role as an educational institution that actively encourages the creativity of the younger generation on the global stage.
