    Winning Bronze Medals at a National Competition, Two Athletes from UNIKOM’s Pencak Silat Student Club Showcase Their Skills at the Yogyakarta Championship 7 2026

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM — Students from the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) have once again achieved a proud accomplishment through the Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit (UKM). Two UNIKOM athletes successfully demonstrated their best abilities at the 2026 Yogyakarta Championship 7 National Pencak Silat Competition, which took place from Tuesday through Thursday, June 30–July 2, 2026, at the Sportorium of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY). This championship is one of the national-level pencak silat events that brings together athletes from various regions across Indonesia. Participants came from various silat schools, educational institutions, and independent athletes who competed to showcase their best abilities and achieve success at the national level.

    In the competition, Naila Hasna Huwaida, a student in the English Literature program, competed in the Women’s Empty-Handed Solo Art category. Meanwhile, Muhammad Zhafran Tahsin Talaohu, a student in the Architecture Engineering program, won a bronze medal in the Men’s Empty-Handed Solo Art category. These achievements were also the result of an intensive preparation process undertaken by the athletes. For approximately one and a half months, all team members followed a training program that included both technical and physical training. During technical training, the athletes honed various pencak silat movements such as throws, locks, and kicks tailored to the latest 2025 IPSI regulations.

    Meanwhile, physical training focused on improving muscle strength, agility, and endurance. One of the methods used was the beep test to measure the athletes’ ability to maintain running intensity until reaching a certain level. These preparations were carried out so that the athletes could face the pressure and intensity of the competition in optimal physical and mental condition.

    According to the Advisor of the UNIKOM Pencak Silat Club, Dr. Ony Widilestariningtyas, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., it is hoped that these achievements will not only be a momentary success but will also serve as a source of motivation for all members to continue improving their skills and achieve even greater success in future competitions. It is also hoped that the athletes’ achievements will further bring honor to the UNIKOM Pencak Silat Club and UNIKOM itself in various national and international pencak silat events.

    Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the UNIKOM Pencak Silat Club, Najwa, also expressed her pride in the achievements attained by her fellow athletes, including her own individual results. According to her, these results are the fruit of the hard work, dedication, and long process they have gone through together. “All the hard work, dedication, and the long process we’ve gone through so far have finally yielded very satisfying results,” said Najwa.

    Despite their success, Najwa noted that there are still several areas that need to be evaluated and improved. Improvements will be made, particularly in terms of physical conditioning and technical mastery, as part of preparations for the next competition. “We realize there are still several aspects that need to be evaluated and improved to enhance our performance in future competitions. Moving forward, we hope to compete at an even higher level and achieve even more outstanding accomplishments to bring honor to UNIKOM,” she explained.

    The 2026 Yogyakarta Championship 7 took place in a spirit of sportsmanship and featured various age categories, ranging from Early Childhood, Pre-Teen, Teen, to Adult/College Student. Competition categories included TGR Art, Creative Solo, and Performance Competition, in both Under and Open classes.

    In addition to competing for gold, silver, and bronze medals, the championship also awarded Overall Champion I, II, and III titles for each age category. The winners received trophies, certificates, and cash prizes. Meanwhile, the Best Male and Female Competitive Silat Athlete awards were given to the athletes with the best performances in each age category. The achievements of Naila Hasna Huwaida and Muhammad Zhafran Tahsin Talaohu prove that hard work, discipline, and focused training can enable UNIKOM students to compete at the national level. These achievements also serve as motivation for the entire UNIKOM Pencak Silat Club community to continue developing athletes’ potential, improving performance, and bringing honor to their alma mater in future competitions.     UNIKOM Student Wins Two Awards at the 2026 Bandung City Reading Ambassador Event

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM — A proud achievement has once again been attained by a student of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) in the field of literacy. Nadyne Hasna Marcelina, the UNIKOM Reading Ambassador for the 2025–2026 period, successfully secured two awards at the 2026 Bandung City Reading Ambassador Election. The grand finale of the event was held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the Balairung Hall of the Bandung City Library and Archives Agency, located at Jl. Seram No. 2, Citarum, Bandung Wetan, Bandung City.

    Nadyne, a 2024 student of the Information Systems Study Program—who is also an active member of the Student Protocol Corps (KPM) Student Activity Unit and the Information Systems Student Association—represented the UNIKOM campus and the Cibeunying Kidul District in the competition. This year’s event featured the theme “The Strategic Role of Reading Ambassadors in Developing a Literacy Culture within the Family,” emphasizing the importance of building a literacy culture starting from the smallest social unit: the family.

    As an implementation of the theme, Nadyne introduced an innovative literacy program entitled “Cakra DDB2: Family Competence through Literacy Action: Listen, Support, Read, Discuss, Obtain Information, and Guide.” This program is designed to encourage families not only to cultivate a reading habit but also to actively listen, discuss, comprehend, and apply information gathered from reading materials in their daily lives.

    Through a rigorous selection process from March to April 2026, which included a quarantine period and various literacy challenges alongside 20 finalists from districts across Bandung City, Nadyne successfully delivered an outstanding performance. Due to her dedication and capabilities, she achieved the following:

    1. 3rd Place: 2026 Bandung City Reading Ambassador
    2. Favorite Ambassador: Crowned after garnering the highest number of public votes, totaling 1,113 votes via an online platform.

    This milestone serves as concrete evidence that UNIKOM students are capable of playing an active role in developing a literacy culture within society. Family support was also a crucial factor in this success. Nadyne’s mother expressed her deep emotion and pride regarding the achievement, while also advising Nadyne to continue developing her potential and to never easily become complacent.

    In a separate interview, the Director of the UNIKOM Library, Ubudiyah Setiawati, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., conveyed her appreciation for the accomplishment, “Congratulations to Nadyne, who has fought hard and successfully secured two awards at the 2026 Bandung City Reading Ambassador event. We hope that the knowledge, insights, and experiences she has gained will continue to grow and become an inspiration to the wider public, particularly in enhancing the culture of literacy.”

    Snaily Labs Team from UNIKOM Advances to the Semifinals of the 2026 Microsoft Imagine Cup Global Competition, Presenting an AI-Based Digital Security Solution for Children

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Students from the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) have once again achieved a proud accomplishment. The Snailly Labs team from the Codelabs Division has been officially selected as a semifinalist in the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2026 global technology innovation competition organized by Microsoft. This prestigious competition brings together the best student teams from various countries who present solutions based on artificial intelligence (AI) to address global challenges.

    This year’s Imagine Cup features two competition tracks: “Launch Path” and “Scale Path,” designed to support startups and students according to their development stage. A total of 22 teams were selected as semifinalists for Imagine Cup 2026, consisting of 13 Scale Path teams, 9 Launch Path teams, and the Snailly Labs UNIKOM team was selected as one of the Launch Path semifinalists. In the next stage, all semifinalist teams will receive intensive mentoring, technical guidance, and direct access to industry experts and global venture professionals. The jury will then select the best teams to advance to the World Championship and compete on the international stage. In this semifinal stage, the pitching session is scheduled for April 7, 2026, while the announcement of the teams advancing to the next stage is planned for late spring to early summer 2026.

    Snailly Labs, a team from the UNIKOM Codelabs Division, presented an innovative adaptive content filtering solution that allows parents and educational institutions to determine digital content safety standards relevant to the development of children aged 5 to 14 years. Unlike conventional parental control systems, the developed solution prioritizes a contextual, transparent, and customizable AI-based approach tailored to the needs of each family and educational institution. With an inclusive design, multilingual support, and a human-in-the-loop approach, this platform allows parents and educational institutions to define digital content safety standards in a more relevant and participatory manner.

    The Snailly Labs UNIKOM team consists of students from various study programs at UNIKOM, namely Ariq Hikari Hidayat from the Informatics Engineering study program, Muhammad Favian Jiwani from the Informatics Engineering study program, Raditya Aryabudhi Ramadhan from the Informatics Engineering study program, and Regia Qolbu Rivita Atmowidjaja from the Information Systems study program, who collaborated in developing this technological innovation.

    Successfully reaching the semifinal stage is proof of UNIKOM students’ capacity to integrate research, technological innovation, and social awareness into one sustainable solution. This event not only provides global recognition but also opens access to a world-class technology ecosystem, including support from AI leaders, startup operators, and venture professionals. In addition, the team has the opportunity to refine their product for the market and prepare for the next stage of the competition.

    The Head of the Codelabs Division, Dian Dharmayanti, S.T., M.Kom., expressed her hope that the Snailly Labs team can optimize access to modern infrastructure and expert guidance so that this platform can truly become a new standard for inclusive digital content security. “Hopefully, this international experience will inspire the team to not only stop at the competition, but to continue transforming this research innovation into a real solution that protects children around the world in a sustainable manner,” she concluded. Through this achievement, UNIKOM once again reaffirms its commitment to nurturing young innovators who are not only technically proficient but also capable of delivering real solutions for the global community.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM – The Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) has once again achieved commendable success at the Bandung Lautan Api Championship 7, held at the Gymnasium of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Bandung, on 24–25 January 2026. This national-level competition brought together pencak silat athletes from various regions of Indonesia, competing in categories ranging from early childhood to university students.

    The championship featured competitions in various categories, including TGR (Single, Double, Team) Art, Creative Solo, and Competitive Match, in both under and open classes. In addition to competing for gold, silver, and bronze medals, the organizing committee also awarded titles for Overall Champion I, II, and III in each age category, as well as the titles of Best Male and Female Competitive Athletes.

    In this competition, the UNIKOM contingent successfully secured several silver and bronze medals across various match and art categories. This achievement stands as evidence of the consistent coaching and fighting spirit of UNIKOM’s student-athletes.

    The Advisor for the Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit of UNIKOM, Dr. Ony Widilestariningtyas, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., expressed her appreciation and pride in the team’s dedication. According to her, this success is the result of the discipline, hard work, and never-give-up mentality demonstrated by the athletes throughout the preparation and competition process. She hopes that this achievement will not be a fleeting moment but will serve as motivation to continuously improve quality and bring honor to UNIKOM’s name in future events.

    Preparation for the championship was conducted through an intensive training program lasting approximately one and a half months. This program included integrated technical and physical strengthening. Technically, athletes honed their skills in various movements such as throws, scissors sweeps, and kicks, which were adapted to the latest 2025 Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI) regulations. Meanwhile, physical training focused on improving muscle strength, agility, and endurance, including using the beep test method to measure athletes’ stamina capacity in facing match intensity.

    Meanwhile, the Head of the UNIKOM Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit, Najwa Salsabila, expressed her pride in the team’s achievement. She assessed that the entire long process, from training to the matches, has yielded proud results. However, evaluations are still being conducted to improve physical and technical aspects to be able to compete at higher competition levels in the future.

    UNIKOM Student Wins Gold Medal in the Authorized Women’s Hosinsul Class in The Qualification Round of The West Java Regional Championship

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM — Commitment to regional sports development and achievement enhancement was realized through the West Java Regional Championship Qualifying Round, which took place on December 13 – 14, 2025, at  Universitas Krisnadwipayana in Jakarta, Indonesia. This event serves as a strategic step in selecting the best athletes from West Java to compete in Pekan Olahraga Provinsi (Porprov), the Provincial Sports Week. 

    Nadya Wicita Cyma, a student from Communication Science of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), won the gold medal in the Hosinsul Authorized Women’s category at the championship. Hosinsul is a category in the martial art of Hapkido that focuses on demonstrating basic techniques (Hosinsul) in pairs, showcasing movements such as strikes, blocks, locks, and throws in a structured and coordinated manner. 

    In an interview, Nadya revealed that the qualifying round was not only intended as a competition but also as a platform of comprehensive athlete development. This development includes physical readiness, technical mastery, and strengthening the mental aspect of competition as preparation for the Proprov. “The main objective of this activity is to develop and prepare athletes to be ready to excel at the Porprov and be able to bring honor to the region,” explained Nadya. 

    The regional championship was also attended by athletes, coaches, and officials from various regencies and cities in West Java, who competed to achieve the best results and qualify for the next stage. The entire matches was carried out in accordance with the established competition standards.

    During the two days of the event, everything ran smoothly and in line with the expected targets. Nadya added that the achievements were proof of the results of continuous training and coaching. “Alhamdulillah, the event ran smoothly. My hope for the future is to maintain the medals that have been won and continue to improve our performance even further,” she hoped.

    Through this qualifying round, it is expected that outstanding athletes from West Java who are ready to compete at the provincial level will be identified. This excellent achievements of UNIKOM students also serve as a manifestation of the academic community’s contribution to supporting the sustainable development and progress of regional sports.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM — On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) received an appreciation in the form of an award certificate from the Indonesian Minister of Manpower for its contribution as a training center partner in the WorldSkills Asia Taipei 2025 event. The award was presented during the Award Ceremony for the Achievement and Implementation of WorldSkills Asia Taipei 2025. Held at the Grand Mercure Jakarta Kemayoran Hotel, the event was attended by the Indonesian Delegation, chief experts, experts, and participants who made achievements at WorldSkills Asia Taipei 2025. 

    On this occasion, the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia presented award certificates to Indonesian competitors and experts as a form of appreciation for their dedication, professionalism, and achievements in bringing pride to the nation at the Asian level. The award presentation was combined with the 2025 National Sending Organization coordination meeting. The appreciation given to UNIKOM was also inseparable from the brilliant achievements of UNIKOM students. Previously, a student from the Information Systems Study Program, Rash Asyari Amyris Thalib, won a gold medal at WorldSkills Asia Taipei 2025, surpassing competitors from Japan and South Korea in the IT Network Systems Administration category. UNIKOM has also won several other championships, including the WorldSkills competition at the global level in the field of Digital & ICT in Lyon, France, in 2024; WorldSkills ASEAN 2025 in Manila, Philippines; and many more. These achievements serve as concrete evidence of the effectiveness of the training, development, and institutional support systems implemented by UNIKOM as a partner in the national training center.

    The Head of the International Class & Training Division, Directorate of International Programs and Vice Rector IV for Digital Technology & ICT, International Programs & Center of Excellence at UNIKOM, Angga Friyanto, S.Kom., M.T., who is also the coach of the UNIKOM team, attended the invitation to receive the award, expressing gratitude for the recognition directly presented by the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Yassierli, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. He stated that the award is a recognition of UNIKOM’s active role alongside other institutions in supporting the development of Indonesia’s workforce competencies to international standards. “In particular, the Indonesian Minister of Manpower expressed appreciation to UNIKOM as a partner in organizing the WorldSkills Asia Taipei 2025 training center. This is a source of pride and a great responsibility for UNIKOM in supporting the improvement of the competitiveness of Indonesian human resources,” said Angga.

    In 2025, UNIKOM will be entrusted by the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia as one of the national training centers through a strategic cooperation scheme. In this role, UNIKOM has the main task of preparing participants from Indonesia to be ready to compete at the Asian level through the implementation of intensive training programs, the provision of facilities and infrastructure, and the application of international standards used in WorldSkills competitions.

    UNIKOM involvement in WorldSkills Asia Taipei 2025 reflects the institution’s commitment to strengthening technology-based vocational competencies, digital innovation, and the development of excellent human resources that are adaptive to global industry needs.     Badminton Club of Unikom Wins Six Championships in Various Tournaments during October-November 2025

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM — The Badminton Student Activity Unit (UKM) of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) has once again achieved impressive results on the national stage. From October to November 2025, the Badminton UKM successfully won six championship titles from several prestigious tournaments, all of which were achieved by the university’s male athletes.

    The series of achievements began in early October 2025 at the National Student Sports Week (POMNAS) 2025 held in Semarang, Central Java. At this national competition, UNIKOM contributed two medals to the West Java contingent, one each from the Men’s Team and Mixed Doubles events. Both medals were won by Fajar Putra Setiawan, a student in the Management Program (S1), who performed brilliantly throughout the competition.

    Not only POMNAS, Fajar also made an achievement at the Semar Cup 2 Tournament by winning 2nd place in the Men’s Doubles category. The tournament, organized by PBSI Cirebon, lasted for five days, from October 20 to 25, 2025, and was one of the national-level competitions participated in by the best athletes from various regions.

    The excellent achievements continued at the 2025 Student, Pupil, and Cadet Sports and Arts Week (PORSIMAPTAR) organized by the Semarang Police Academy. In the event, which took place from November 9 to 15, 2025, in Semarang, UNIKOM athletes won first place in the men’s doubles and first place in the mixed doubles, again on behalf of Fajar Putra Setiawan, reaffirming his consistency as a national athlete.

    Furthermore, at the 2025 Poltekkes Sports Day Tournament, the UNIKOM Badminton added another title to its list by winning first place in the Men’s Doubles Category, achieved by the pair Ridho Ma’sum Firdaus (Accounting Program) and Fajar Putra Setiawan (Management Program). The tournament was held over two days, on November 22 and 23, 2025, at the Secapa AD Sports Hall in Bandung.

    The Director of Student Affairs of UNIKOM and Advisor of the Badminton Club, Andrias Darmayadi, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., expressed his high appreciation and pride in the athletes’ achievements. He emphasized that these achievements were the result of the students’ hard work, discipline, and commitment to developing their non-academic potential. “Congratulations to all the athletes who have fought hard and brought honor to UNIKOM in various national tournaments. InshaAllah, these achievements will be an inspiration for all students to continue contributing to UNIKOM’s success at the regional, national, and international levels,” he concluded.

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Another brilliant achievement came from the Student Activity Unit (UKM) Pencak Silat Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM). The UNIKOM Pencak Silat Team won a gold medal in the prestigious Indonesian Pencak Silat Paku Bumi Open Championship 13 Year 2025. This international level championship took place at the Bandung Bedas Jalak Harupat GOR for three days, from January 31 to February 2, 2025.

    This Indonesia Pencak Silat Paku Bumi Open Championship is an annual international championship attended by athletes from various universities, both from inside and outside the country, such as Malaysia. This championship competes in various categories, ranging from early age to adult, with various competition classes such as Seni TGR, Solo Kreatif, and Tanding Prestasi.     The success of the UNIKOM Pencak Silat UKM team cannot be separated from the intensive training process. For approximately one month, athletes undergo rigorous physical and technical training. Technical training with various movements such as slams, pulls, scissors, and kicks that are adjusted to the latest IPSI match regulations in 2022. In addition, physical training is also carried out to increase endurance and strength, including beep tests to measure athletes’ endurance abilities.
