A quantitative method is used in this research using proportional purposive sampling data collection techniques. The questionnaire distribution was based on the criteria of respondents who were second and third-year students at private universities (PU) in West Java, Indonesia, and were classified as SU. The data analysis used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), partial model test, and Sobel test to determine the strength of the mediation role in this research model. Penulis: Senny Luckyardi, Yogi Suprayogi, Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, Gordana Pesakovic

    DOI: 10.14453/aabfj.v18i5.08

© 2024, University of Wollongong. • Indonesia – China Relations in The Natuna Sea Dispute Resolution: Struggle for Sovereignty

Authors: Andrias Darmayadi ; Ervina Nabilah Purnamasari

    DOI: 10.15549/jeecar.v9i1.870

    Abstract

This study aims to analyze the process of resolving the Natuna sea dispute between Indonesia and China to obtain their respective sovereignty. The Natuna Sea is one of the outermost waters in Indonesia, which is unilaterally claimed by China at the South China Sea (indicated with dash lines on Figure 1). This claim overlaps with Indonesia’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the Natuna Sea. As a result of this claim, many Chinese fishermen are free to go in and out of catching fish in Natuna Waters with illegal fishing status. The method used in this research was qualitative and descriptive research. The data collection technique was based on a literature study and was strengthened by interviewees. The study results show that this dispute resolution process is carried out through two approaches, namely the international law approach and the diplomatic approach. Because through these two approach strategies, this dispute resolution can be accomplished very comprehensively. The legal approach was taken by submitting a Diplomatic Protest Note to China. Also, the diplomatic approach was taken by Indonesia and other ASEAN countries within the ASEAN Way framework. © 2022, Institute of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. All rights reserved.

Authors: Siti Kurnia Rahayu, Adeh Ratna Komala, Sharifah Norzehan B. T. Syed Yusuf

    DOI: 10.14453/aabfj.v18i5.09

    Abstract

The dynamics of Islamic banking growth offer unique insights into the opportunities and challenges in accounting and tax harmonization. Conducted in 2023, this qualitative study explores barriers and solutions to accounting and tax integration within the Islamic banking sector through case studies of leading Islamic banks in Indonesia and Malaysia. Through in-depth analysis based on expert interviews and regulatory document review, this research identifies divergences in accounting principles, regulatory infrastructure, and human resource readiness as primary constraints. A proposed theoretical framework, integrating Maqasid Sharia principles with good governance, aims to create an accountable, sustainable, and integrated accounting and taxation system. Its implementation is expected to enhance transparency and accountability of Islamic banks, thereby strengthening the broader Islamic economy in both nations, with long-term improvements in operational efficiency and fiscal compliance. © 2024, University of Wollongong. The findings affirm that the accreditation attribute holds significant influence in decision-making, outweighing other attributes such as facilities, tuition fees, promotions, and college location. Furthermore, the research results also indicate that parents of high school students share similar preferences with the high school students regarding the importance of accreditation attributes. These findings indicate the importance of enhancing academic quality and facilities in private universities, which directly impacts public perception and future prospects of their education and survivability. © 2024, University of Wollongong. Vocational Skills Training as a Requirement for Survival in Disaster Affected Communities: an Educational, Managerial and Technological Perspective

Author: Eddy Soeryanto Seogoto ; Umi Narimawati ; Wahyu

    Abstract

For many years, throughout the world, people have had, and continue to have, pressing, endless and urgent needs to build conducive and human friendly communities. However, in a disaster situation, many lose lives, property, infrastructure, close friends and family members, something which causes multiple pain and suffering. Such a condition calls for a tested strategy and or approach, which can heal all the post-disaster wounds and pains brought about by deadly calamities (such as tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes). In this case, among the most appropriate strategies is vocational skills training. Based on this, in the present study the authors seek to examine the effectiveness of this strategy from an educational, managerial and technological perspective with the aim of establishing how the strategy should work to build sustainable communities in a post-disaster situation. It is concluded that communities need to possess appropriate knowledge, attitude, and skills necessarily for their survival after minor and severe disasters. This can take place in the form of vocational training and skills development. © 2017 WIETE.
