  • The Determination of the Fuzzy Membership Sets for a Hybrid Coffee Bean Dryer Temperature Controller

    Authors: Yusrila Kerlooza; Ari Ramadhani

    DOI: 10.1109/INCITEST59455.2023.10396975

    Abstract

Traditionally in Indonesia, post-harvest processing of coffee beans is usually done by drying them in the sun. This method will produce coffee beans with uncertain quality. The use of sophisticated industrial-scale dryers is not easy to implement in rural areas due to the limited supply of electricity or gas as a source of heating energy. In this paper we present the design of a coffee bean dryer temperature controller using the fuzzy logic method. This device can regulate the temperature inside the drying chamber by adjusting the opening size of the hot air valve without changing the amount of heat supply from the heating components. In this way, various heat sources can be used according to their availability in the field. This research tested several fuzzy membership function scenarios in the form of several variations of valve opening sizes and measured the speed and stability of each variation in reaching the desired temperature. Based on the dryer model developed in this study, the most stable control scenario at the ideal coffee bean drying temperature is the fuzzy control scenario with 5 membership functions. The fastest time from 28°C to reach a temperature set point of 40°C is 10 minutes 26 seconds and the fastest temperature drop from 42°C to the same set point takes 3 minutes 19 seconds. © 2023 IEEE.

    DOI: 10.1109/INCITEST64888.2024.11121459

    Abstract:

This research aims to build a multimedia-based learning application program for the history of a colonial war in Indonesia. The object of research was conducted at SMAN 24 Bandung, class XI as many as 8 classes. The problem faced at this time is that students get material on the history of war in Indonesia only by capitalizing on materials from books and or PowerPoint soft files as references. In delivering the material by the teacher only face to face in class, lecturing, holding question and answer sessions, and not having a variety of interactive learning media, learning history becomes less interesting. Multimedia is an innovative learning system that requires teachers to be more creative in combining multimedia elements such as text, images, sound, video, and animation to unite and achieve learning objectives. The method used in developing this application is the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC). In the alpha and beta testing stages, testing was carried out by 4 evaluators, namely learning material experts (vice principal), learning design experts and communication media experts from multimedia industry practitioners, and users represented by history teaching teachers. Three aspects are assessed, namely audio media, video media, and multimedia with a value > =3, multimedia applications are said to be suitable for use as learning aids. From the results of the evaluator’s assessment, the three aspects are obtained around the average value of the evaluator 5.18, which means that this application is feasible to use as a learning media in the history of colonial wars in Indonesia. © 2024 IEEE.

  • Augmented Reality Based Indoor Navigation System using Point Cloud Localization for Efficient Item Search in Warehouse

Authors: Richi Dwi Agustia, Laurentyus Bryan Hermanto, Hanhan Maulana

    DOI: 10.1109/INCITEST64888.2024.11121513

    Abstract

Locating specific items within expansive warehouse spaces poses a significant challenge, particularly when items are dispersed across different sections. Traditional 2D map-based navigation lacks depth and detail, leading to inefficiencies as workers spend considerable time navigating to find items within an expansive warehouse. The study aims to develop an AR-based navigation system using point cloud technology, using ARCore and Immersal SDK for mapping and localization. ARCore utilized to tracks the device’s position and orientation in 3D space, aiding in AR experiences by overlaying navigation cues in real-time. The Immersal SDK is used to enable spatial and visual mapping, integrating digital content with the physical environment through point cloud localization. To conduct pathfinding analysis, the navmesh in Unity is used, combined with the Catmull-Rom spline interpolation algorithm to create smooth navigation paths. To map a space, in this case, a warehouse, an immersal mapper is used, where a camera captures objects in the real world in the form of a point cloud. Each point in the point cloud reflects latitude and longitude. This point cloud will be stored in immersal cloud services for use in the localization process after the point cloud is processed through Unity software. Testing results indicate the application effectively assists navigation, offering smooth trajectory adjustments around obstacles, though it currently lacks rerouting capabilities when paths are blocked. Time efficiency testing revealed that the application significantly reduces the time taken to locate items compared to the manual method, the mean time taken for each task was consistently lower in the group that used the app compared to the group that did not. Specifically, the time reduction was more pronounced for more time-intensive tasks, such as Item 3, where the mean completion time decreased from 458.75 seconds without the app to 208.25 seconds with the app. The average distance taken for all items is consistently lower in the group using the application compared to the group not using it, the average distance for Item 3 decreased from 151.21 meters without the application to 69.3 meters with the application. The ANOVA test was conducted to show the significant effect between those using the application and those not using it. The results indicated that the p-value was below 0.05, which significantly suggests that the application helps reduce the time and distance taken when searching for items. © 2024 IEEE.

    Abstract

Receiving scholarships for high school students is one of the key processes in obtaining scholarships at a university; therefore, the process of monitoring and evaluating scholarship recipients at the high school level is very necessary. We haven’t used machine learning for prediction yet. A fair and suitable process is crucial to support the justification candidate. This research aims to provide prediction learning models based on the proposed dataset. We leveraged classification techniques like decision trees base, naive bayes learning, and support vector learning. As a result of the task, we received a variety of accuracy levels, ranging from tree learning to support vector machine. Each model presents accuracy values of 1.00,1.00, 1.00,0.81, and 0.99, in that order. SVM outperforms the other models, particularly in reducing false predictions. The dataset consists of 547 instances, with 70% of them in the training dataset and 30% in the testing dataset. Future research can leverage deep learning methods or large language machines. Providing the tuning parameter is crucial for enhancing classification accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.
