BANDUNG, UNIKOM – On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chirchik State Pedagogical University as a follow-up to the official visit of delegates from Jizzakh State Pedagogical University and Chirchik State Pedagogical University, Uzbekistan, to UNIKOM. Held in the Rector’s Meeting Room on the 15th Floor of the UNIKOM Smart Building, the signing ceremony reflected UNIKOM’s commitment to strengthening international collaboration in education, research, innovation, and human resource development in support of globally competitive higher education.
On the occasion, the Rector of UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. HC. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T., stated that the visit of the Chirchik State Pedagogical University delegation demonstrated the continued development of the academic partnership between the two institutions. “The collaborative relationship between UNIKOM and universities in Uzbekistan continues to grow. This visit also reflects our shared commitment to strengthening the partnership that has been established since last year. We are committed to further expanding this collaboration through various academic programs that can be implemented in a meaningful and sustainable manner,” he said.
Prof. Eddy further emphasized that UNIKOM expects the partnership to strengthen not only institutional relations but also to generate collaborative programs that provide tangible benefits for the academic communities of both universities.
“We hope to realize more joint initiatives, ranging from faculty and student exchange programs to collaborative research and innovation development that will enhance the quality of higher education at both institutions,” he added.
Through the signing of the MoU, UNIKOM and Chirchik State Pedagogical University agreed to develop various forms of collaboration in implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, encompassing education, research, and community service. The agreement also includes student, faculty, and administrative staff exchange programs, as well as the organization of seminars, international scientific conferences, workshops, guest lectures, and other academic activities aimed at broadening global perspectives and strengthening academic ties between the two universities.
Furthermore, both institutions will collaborate on joint research projects, international scientific publications, curriculum development, academic program enhancement, and various initiatives in innovation and scientific advancement to improve the quality of higher education. The partnership also creates opportunities for both universities to develop additional collaborative programs based on their respective needs and institutional strengths.
During the event, Prof. Dustanazar Khimmataliev, Professor of Chirchik State Pedagogical University, expressed his pleasure at returning to UNIKOM. According to him, this marked his second visit following the signing of a memorandum of understanding that laid the foundation for broader institutional cooperation. “I am delighted to visit Universitas Komputer Indonesia once again. This is my second visit. Previously, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding as a commitment to strengthening cooperation between our two institutions,” he remarked.
Prof. Dustanazar also highlighted that the partnership offers significant opportunities for both universities to develop collaborative initiatives that benefit their academic communities and institutional development. “Through this collaboration, we hope to expand various joint programs, particularly in education, research, faculty and student exchanges, as well as the advancement of science and technology. We believe that collaboration between universities in Indonesia and Uzbekistan will bring mutual benefits while expanding our international academic network,” he stated. He concluded by expressing his appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by UNIKOM throughout his visit.
Meanwhile, the Director of UNIKOM International Program, Dr. Senny Luckyardi, S.P., M.M., explained that the university is committed to ensuring the implementation of the initiatives agreed upon through the partnership. “Through our collaboration with Chirchik State Pedagogical University, we will oversee the implementation of the agreed programs, including student and faculty exchanges, collaborative research, international seminars, curriculum development, and joint scientific publications. BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) hosted an educational visit from SMK Al-Huda Bumiayu, Brebes Regency, Central Java. Held at the Miracle Auditorium on the 4th floor of UNIKOM Campus I, the event was part of UNIKOM efforts to introduce the academic environment, learning innovations, and various opportunities for further study to vocational high school students.
During the visit, the delegation from SMK Al-Huda Bumiayu was welcomed by the Head of the Public Relations and Public Information Division, Arif Try Cahyadi, M.Ds., acting on behalf of UNIKOM’s Director of Public Relations and Protocol, Dr. Ir. Yuni Mogot, M.Si., CPR, along with the New Student Admissions Team (PMB) representing the Director of PMB, Yudistira Soegoto, S.Kom., M.Kom.; the Chair of the Information Systems Study Program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wartika, S.Kom., M.T.; the Chair of the Computer Engineering Study Program, Dr. Susmini Indriani Lestariningati, S.T., M.T.; and officials from UNIKOM’s Directorate of Public Relations and Protocol.
During the interview, the Head of UNIKOM Public Relations and Public Information Division, Arif Try Cahyadi, M.Ds., stated that school visits are one way UNIKOM demonstrates its commitment to strengthening ties with the secondary education sector while providing prospective students with a real-world glimpse into academic life at the university. “The visit by students from SMK Al-Huda Bumi Ayu Brebes to UNIKOM is part of an industry visit program that provides participants with the opportunity to gain information, insights, and inspiration regarding higher education. Through this activity, we hope the students will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of continuing their education at the university level. We also encourage students to continue their education at the university level so they can acquire better competencies and access broader career opportunities. This year, we chose UNIKOM as our visit destination because its academic programs are highly relevant to the specialized competencies taught at SMK Al-Huda Bumiayu, particularly in the field of Computer Networking and Telecommunications Engineering.
Furthermore, Idha noted that 80 students participated in the visit and got to see firsthand the various facilities at UNIKOM, such as the library and the Artificial Intelligence (AI) laboratory a result of UNIKOM collaboration with Google. These facilities were among the highlights of the visit. “This experience certainly provided new insights and motivation for the students to continue developing their competencies in the digital field. This event was also coupled with the signing of a cooperation agreement with Chirchik State Pedagogical University, Uzbekistan. Held in the Rector’s Room on the 15th Floor of the UNIKOM Smart Building, the event embodied UNIKOM’s commitment to strengthening global collaboration in education, research, innovation, and human resource development, advancing its vision of becoming an internationally competitive university.
The delegation from the visiting universities was warmly welcomed by the Rector of UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T. (Prof. HC), accompanied by the Vice Rector IV for Digital & ICT, International Programs & Center of Excellence, the Director of the International Program, the Director of Grants and Study Centers, and the Head of the Cooperation Division.
During an interview, the Rector of UNIKOM shared his thoughts on the visit: “On this occasion, UNIKOM received a visit from three higher education institutions in Uzbekistan. The presence of these professors and their staff is a follow-up visit to the cooperation we have established since last year. We had also visited Uzbekistan previously, ensuring that this relationship continues to grow sustainably.” said Prof Eddy.
Furthermore, Prof. Eddy hopes that reciprocal visits will take place again this year and next year to strengthen the collaboration. “This partnership is expected to further strengthen the ties between both institutions while opening up various opportunities to learn from each other, exchange experiences, and develop academic programs that are mutually beneficial,” he concluded.
In line with this, the Director of UNIKOM’s International Program, Dr. Senny Luckyardi, S.P., M.M., noted that this cooperation is a core component of UNIKOM’s internationalization strategy, aiming to expand academic collaborations with reputable universities across various countries. According to Dr. Senny, the partnership with Jizzakh State Pedagogical University and Chirchik State Pedagogical University is expected to go beyond the signing of the MoU and be implemented through concrete programs that provide tangible benefits to the academic communities of both institutions.
As an initial step in solidifying this international partnership, UNIKOM formally signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jizzakh State Pedagogical University and Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute. This signing marks a significant milestone in building broader academic collaboration, particularly in computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the development of globally oriented higher education. Through this agreement, both institutions are committed to creating a collaborative ecosystem that fosters innovation, knowledge exchange, and the enhancement of human resource quality.
The agreed scope of cooperation includes a Student Exchange Program, which provides students from both universities with opportunities for academic experiences and cultural exchanges to broaden their horizons and enhance global competencies in computing and artificial intelligence. In addition, the two institutions will develop a Faculty Exchange Program to serve as a platform for sharing expertise, innovative teaching methods, curriculum development, and collaborative teaching execution.
The cooperation also encompasses Joint Research and Development Projects, where both universities will collaborate as partners in executing research projects, drafting research proposals, and developing innovations that contribute to the advancement of science and technology. Furthermore, both institutions will explore the implementation of Joint Degree and Training Programs, short-term training, and various workshops in computing and artificial intelligence to enhance the competencies of both students and professionals, enabling them to meet global industrial demands. Beyond these four main areas, UNIKOM and Jizzakh State Pedagogical University have also opened up opportunities to develop other areas of cooperation to be mutually agreed upon based on the needs of both institutions.
The professor representing Jizzakh State Pedagogical University and Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute, Prof. Jalil Khamidov, expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended by UNIKOM. He explained that his university houses a Faculty of E-Sports (Cyber Sport) which oversees various technology-based study programs, including Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Software Development, and other disciplines in the field of information technology.
According to Prof. Jalil Khamidov, the collaboration with UNIKOM is expected to strengthen the academic ties between the institutions through knowledge exchange, joint research, innovation development, and the improvement of education quality in information technology. “We hope this cooperation can strengthen the academic relationship between Jizzakh State Pedagogical University, Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute, and UNIKOM. BANDUNG, UNIKOM – As a tangible manifestation of impactful and sustainable community service, the Faculty of Design at the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) has established a strategic collaboration with the International Young Scientists Association (IYSA) to organize an international workshop for junior high school (SMP) and senior high school (SMA) students on Thursday, July 9, 2026, held in the 6th-floor classroom of the UNIKOM Smart Building. The event, which involved all departments within the UNIKOM Faculty of Design from the Visual Communication Design (DKV), Graphic Design (DG), and Interior Design (DI) programs to the Master of Design (MDS) program aimed to hone creativity while equipping the younger generation with practical skills. Not only does the program focus on fostering cultural values and innovation, but it also aims to promote financial independence and efficiency by applying design principles as concrete solutions to improve the standard of living for the community.
This Community Service Program (PKM) featured two main activities designed to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills. The first class, titled “Paper Sculpture Amazing Pop-Up,” was led by Dr. Yully Ambarsih Ekawardhani, S.Sn., M.Sn., while the second class focused on “Smartphone Modeling Photography,” led by Adityo B. Hardoyo, M.Ds. The workshop activities in both sessions were made possible by the active collaboration of faculty members from the UNIKOM Faculty of Design, who served as speakers, mentors, and committee members. Additionally, the active involvement of students on the organizing committee made a significant contribution to ensuring that the entire workshop series ran smoothly and interactively.
The Executive Chair of the Organizing Committee and Head of the Visual Communication Design Program at UNIKOM, Dr. Kankan Kasmana, S.Sn., M.Ds., explained that there was high enthusiasm for this international workshop, which was attended by participants ranging from junior high school (SMP) to senior high school (SMA) students. “Through this event, we hope that students will not only gain new and enjoyable knowledge but also be able to apply it directly. They learned to create artworks using paper during the paper sculpture session and to understand professional photography techniques using only their smartphones,” said Dr. Kankan.
Furthermore, Dr. Kankan emphasized that the workshop served as a strategic platform for faculty members to directly transfer their knowledge to the community as a form of academic dedication. This ongoing collaboration between UNIKOM’s Faculty of Design and the International Young Scientists Association (IYSA) is an annual event, and this marks the third competition held at UNIKOM. The implementation of this program serves as tangible evidence of UNIKOM’s Faculty of Design’s commitment to delivering community service that has a broad and sustainable impact, while also serving as a strategic step in consistently improving the quality of education and developing the community’s creative capacity.
Meanwhile, the head of the “Paper Sculpture Amazing Pop-Up” Community Service (PKM) team, Dr. Yully Ambarsih Ekawardhani, S.Sn., M.Sn., explained that participants were equipped with technical knowledge regarding the basic principles of paper mechanics, which include the art of folding, cutting, and gluing. According to her, the activity served as an effective promotional tool to introduce the creative aspects of the Visual Communication Design program to the younger generation. “This activity centered on the theme of Indonesian folklore, particularly fables or animal stories, which were then transformed into captivating pop-up designs. Through this approach, we not only hone the participants’ design skills but also instill a sense of pride in the nation’s cultural heritage in a contemporary and innovative way,” said Dr. Yully. Thus, the international workshop organized by UNIKOM Faculty of Design in collaboration with IYSA serves as tangible evidence of a strategic commitment to collaboration in delivering community service programs that are both impactful and sustainable. By combining conventional methods through paper sculpture with the use of modern technology via smartphone photography, this initiative successfully demonstrated that creative synergy can produce innovative works of high social and economic value. Through interactive knowledge transfer, UNIKOM Faculty of Design has not only succeeded in honing the technical skills of the younger generation but has also successfully preserved Indonesia’s cultural heritage while fostering financial independence for the community through sustainable design efficiency and innovation. BANDUNG, UNIKOM – As part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, specifically in the area of Community Service (PKM), the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), through a team of faculty members from the Communication Studies and Government Studies programs in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, organized a training session titled “Training for the Karang Taruna of RW 09 Through Digital Content Creation as an Effort to Strengthen Citizen Journalism in Sekejolang Village, Bandung Regency” on Monday, June 22, 2026. Held at RW 09 in Sekejolang Village, Ciburial Village, Bandung Regency, the event was attended by members of the Bina Mandiri Youth Organization as an effort to enhance the capacity of the younger generation to utilize digital technology productively and responsibly.
This training represents a tangible contribution by UNIKOM to supporting the improvement of the community’s digital literacy. Recognizing the significant potential of the youth in Sekejolang Village to utilize digital devices and social media, the UNIKOM PKM team designed a program that equips participants with the knowledge and skills to produce digital content that is informative, educational, and valuable as well as socially impactful for the community. Through this initiative, the UNIKOM PKM team is fostering the emergence of citizen journalists capable of documenting various community activities, highlighting local potential, and conveying accurate and ethical information via digital media.
The implementation of this program is also aligned with the development of the digital ecosystem in Indonesia. According to the 2025 survey by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), national internet penetration has reached 80.66 percent or approximately 229.43 million users with Generation Z and Millennials constituting the largest user groups. Additionally, 2025 data from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs indicates that 72.6 percent of Indonesians use social media as their primary source of information. This situation serves as a crucial foundation for UNIKOM to continue contributing to the improvement of the public’s digital literacy competencies so they can utilize the digital space in a positive, creative, and responsible manner.
The training was divided into three main sessions. The first session covered the basics of citizen journalism, digital media ethics, and social media optimization strategies, presented by UNIKOM Communication Studies faculty members Yasundari, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom., and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Melly Maulin P., S.Sos., M.Si. Next, participants received instruction on editorial management, planning, and organizational content development, presented by Dr. Ir. Yuni Mogot, M.Si., CPR., along with Rino Adibowo, S.IP., M.I.Pol., a lecturer in the Government Studies Program at UNIKOM. In addition to the four speakers, the training session was also attended by the Secretary of the Communication Studies Program at UNIKOM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Dr. Olih Solihin, S.Sos., M.I.Kom.
Beyond providing conceptual understanding, the UNIKOM PKM team also conducted hands-on sessions that allowed participants to produce visual content, journalistic videos, and infographics using smartphones and the Canva app. The hands-on sessions were led by Dilif Sanjev, a senior student in the Communication Studies Program at UNIKOM who is active as a journalist for the student newspaper BIRAMA, allowing participants to immediately apply the material they had learned.
On this occasion, the Head of UNIKOM Community Service Team, Yasundari, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom., stated that the training was designed to provide tangible benefits to the community by enhancing the digital competencies of the younger generation. “Through this training, we want the youth of Karang Taruna to not only understand the theory but also be able to produce content that is informative, creative, useful, and has a real impact on their community,” she explained.
The series of activities was officially opened by Pendi Zayusman, Head of RW 09 in Kampung Sekejolang, and was attended by Agung Septian, Chair of the Karang Taruna RW 09 chapter, along with all participants and the organizing team. As a token of appreciation, at the end of the event, certificates were presented to the speakers, awards were given to the group with the best work, and a post-test was administered to measure the participants’ increased understanding following the training.
Through this Community Service initiative, UNIKOM continues to strengthen its role as a university that makes a tangible impact on society through the application of science, technology, and communication. In line with UNIKOM commitment as a Digital Entrepreneurial University and a campus prepared to embrace digital transformation, this initiative is expected to foster a community that is more adaptive, creative, and productive in utilizing digital media as a means of education, empowerment, and impactful and sustainable regional development.
