Author: Ayub Subandi ; Jumril Yunas ; Azrul Azlan Hamzah ; Muhamad Ramdzan Buyong

    Abstract

In this project, a Peristaltic fluid micro pump having normally deflecting membrane on a glass based master mold is developed. The developed peristaltic micro-pumps consists of three or more pump membranes connected sequentially. This structure is primarily aimed for enabling high pumping stroke of fluid hence increasing the flow rate. Besides the main purpose, this method can simplify the fabrication reducing the steps of the membrane transfer from master mold to membrane spacer. In this study, the flexible membrane that forms a curved dome-shaped is fabricated implementing a glass rod as the master mold with diameter and height of 4 mm and 2 mm, respectively. The membrane layer was made by pouring in PDMS at the top of mold master. This technique enables to produce a membrane in a normally deflecting form even though there is no interference with the membrane. Apart from that, the membrane can be adjusted to obtain expected flow rate and certainly the size of the membrane diameter. The structures have been successfully fabricated using soft-lithography technique. The functionality test of the fabricated pump system shows that the fluid was able to flow from the inlet to the outlet on the other side of the pump membrane without leaking. The result of this research is expected to be applied as fluid injection system in biomedical instrumentation that need high fluid rate. © 2020, Universiti Malaysia Perlis. All rights reserved.

    Abstract

This paper presents an explanation of the design of Carepol, an air pollution monitoring system in urban areas, using ISPU standard calculations (air pollution standards index of Indonesia) based on the internet] of thing’s (IoT). ISPU is a standard of air quality determination recognized by the government of the Republic of Indonesia through the Ministry of Environment. This IoT-based air pollution monitoring system is focused on measuring carbon monoxide (CO) levels as the highest pollutants in the world today, and analyzing and estimating the value of these pollutants in real-time and continuously. By using Carepol, society can actively engage in the control of urban air quality, and contribute to improving the environment and public health. For the government, Carepol can serve as a reference platform for proper policy-making in environmental issues, especially air pollution, and as well as the realization of Smart City for better life. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. • The Analysis of Fixed Final State Optimal Control in Bilinear System Applied to Bone Marrow by Cell-Cycle Specif

The Analysis of Fixed Final State Optimal Control in Bilinear System Applied to Bone Marrow by Cell-Cycle Specif

    Author: Rainarli E. ; Dewi K.E.

    DOI: 10.1088/1742-6596/824/1/012029

    Abstract

The research conducted by Fister & Panetta shown an optimal control model of bone marrow cells against Cell Cycle Specific chemotherapy drugs. The model used was a bilinear system model. Fister & Panetta research has proved existence, uniqueness, and characteristics of optimal control (the chemotherapy effect). However, by using this model, the amount of bone marrow at the final time could achieve less than 50 percent from the amount of bone marrow before given treatment. This could harm patients because the lack of bone marrow cells made the number of leukocytes declining and patients will experience leukemia. This research would examine the optimal control of a bilinear system that applied to fixed final state. It will be used to determine the length of optimal time in administering chemotherapy and kept bone marrow cells on the allowed level at the same time. Before simulation conducted, this paper shows that the system could be controlled by using a theory of Lie Algebra. Afterward, it shows the characteristics of optimal control. Based on the simulation, it indicates that strong chemotherapy drug given in a short time frame is the most optimal condition to keep bone marrow cells spine on the allowed level but still could put playing an effective treatment. It gives preference of the weight of treatment for keeping bone marrow cells. The result of chemotherapy’s effect (u) is not able to reach the maximum value. On the other words, it needs to make adjustments of medicine’s dosage to satisfy the final treatment condition e.g. the number of bone marrow cells should be at the allowed level. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

    Abstract

Using agent-based model (ABM) interaction between agents in the form of weather (temperature and precipitation), soil, and plant for different farming system is simulated. Three farming system: conventional farming (CF), organic farming (OF), smart farming (SF) are chosen, where each has its own characteristics. Age of plant τ max = 30 day and lag time between two successive planting τ lag= 10 day are used for ten years simulation. In each year there are nine replanting process. It is observed that CF and OF are very dependent to the weather, while SF is not. This will make the last farming system very superior, constant and predicted results, compared to the other two based on the proposed model, especially how every system components influence size of the plant as assumed. © 2019 Institute of Physics Publishing. DOI: 10.1088/1757-899X/662/4/042023

    Abstract

The purpose of this study is to developing smart environment systems model for optimization in agriculture is to monitor soil, water, pollution levels, and weather conditions in farming. The monitoring process is carried out to increase the level of agricultural productivity. The model can be used to assist farmers in the decision-making process to cultivate the land and determine the types of commodities to be planted. The method used to develop the model is a descriptive qualitative. The result of the research is a model. Poor pollution levels and relatively erratic weather can worsen the productivity of agricultural land. These conditions make it difficult for farmers to determine the right seeds and fertilizers to use, as well as the right time to start the planting period. Thus the model is expected to support farmers in increasing the quantity and quality of their agricultural products. The model is developed as a part of the implementation of the smart city and internet of things (IoT) concepts which specialize in creating smart environments in agriculture. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. DOI: 10.36909/jer.ASSEEE.16089

    Abstract

The high land conversion rate to other sectors has led the government to issue Law No. 41 in 2009 concerning Protection of Sustainable Agricultural Land (SAL). The study aims to identify the distribution of sustainable agricultural land uses and determine agricultural land-use changes from 2016 to 2019 and determine farmers’ understanding of sustainable agricultural land control in the strategic area of Garut Regency. We overlaid the land use maps of Garut Regency in 2016 and 2019 and conducted a survey using an online questionnaire with a Google form. The research location is in five districts in Garut Regency. The results showed no land conversion in the area of existing sustainable agricultural land in Garut Regency. The total rice field area is 6,081 hectares, with about 24% is sustainable agricultural land. From 2016 to 2019, the rice field area decreased by 12 hectares. The farmers’ awareness of SAL tends to be more likely aware of the sustainable agricultural land area, as many as 39% of farmers aware of sustainable agricultural land. The incentives given to farmers who control sustainable agricultural land are tax deduction, agricultural infrastructure supply, agricultural production facilities subsidies, and land certification facilities. The majority of the respondents are aware of these incentives. In conclusion, no sustainable agricultural land is converted, even though changes occur in non-sustainable agricultural land. The impact of this study is for recommendations to the government in sustainable agricultural land management. © 2021 University of Kuwait. All rights reserved.
