    Abstract

Education is an activity that provides direction in the growth process that starts in childhood, aimed at developing one’s self-potential and strengths in various ways to be able to carry out life tasks independently. The goal of this study is to perform bibliometric computational analysis by integrating mapping analysis with VOSviewer software and data collection using Publish or Perish software. The method used is a bibliometric and descriptive quantitative approach. The data was obtained by searching the term “Education Technology” on Google Scholar using Publish or Perish software, which yielded 989 articles published between 2017 and 2021. However, only 52 of these articles were found to be relevant to the research topic. Based on the research conducted during the period of 2017-2021, there has been a decline in the number of relevant articles published each year. For instance, in 2017, 295 articles were published, whereas in 2018, 274 articles were published, in 2019, 213 articles were published, in 2020, 164 articles were published, and in 2021, only 43 articles were published. This research highlights the importance of conducting bibliometric analysis, especially on the topic of “Education Technology”. It is hoped that this research will serve as a reference for authors who wish to determine the theme to be studied in their research © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.

  • A Bert Model to Detect Provocative Hoax

A Bert Model to Detect Provocative Hoax

Authors: Rio Yunanto, Eri Prasetyo Wibowo, Rianto R

    Abstract

The information flood makes social media users vulnerable to becoming victims of provocative hoaxes or even spreading hoaxes themselves. This research examines the capabilities of two variants of Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) models for the Indonesian language (IndoBERT Base Model and Indonesian BERT base model 522M) in developing the detection of provocative hoaxes in the Indonesian language. The proposed method used two variants of the monolingual BERT model for the Indonesian language from the Huggingface library. The proposed method’s architectural flow starts with data collection and labelling from community hoax collector websites, followed by pre-processing. The cleaned data is then divided into training and test data to proceed to the fine-tuning stage, where several layers and weights of the BERT model are adjusted to fit the desired classification task. The experimental results of the study show that the recommended Indonesian BERT variant for the detection of provocative hoaxes is the IndoBERT Base Model with a learning rate of 1e-5, a batch size of 32, and a maximum length limit of 128 tokens, achieving an average training accuracy of 99,22%, with a training time of 21min 52s. The research findings also indicate that a learning rate 1e-5 can produce better test accuracy than a learning rate of 2e-5 or 3e-5. The detection model of provocative hoaxes using Indonesian BERT variants needs to be improved, especially in terms of collecting a large amount of hoax data, to enhance the accuracy of the provocative hoax detection model. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.

The Production of Mingling Spaces as a Form of Children’s Mobility

Authors: Dhini Dewiyanti, Andiyan, Dianna Astrid Hertoety, Tri Widianti Natalia

    DOI: 10.13189/cea.2023.110613

    Abstract

The city of Bandung in Indonesia is facing challenges due to the decreasing availability and high prices of land. This has resulted in settlements that do not meet the basic housing requirements, including providing open spaces or communal areas for residents. As part of the community, children are particularly affected by spatial injustice caused by the lack of space, specifically for playing. Furthermore, children in Bandung often visit play areas in other communities. Preliminary research are indicating some interesting phenomena, including 1) the existence of spaces in settlements that are only used by children from the specific community and 2) the existence of spaces that are shared and used by children from various surrounding settlement areas. These shared spaces, where children from different areas come together to play, are called “mingling spaces”. Therefore, this research aims to identify and understand the mingling spaces that emerge from children’s activities during their collective play. It was conducted in three settlement areas in North Bandung with shared play spaces. Data were collected by observing the play behaviour of children aged 4-12. Spatial analysis using social constructivism methods provides an understanding of the mingling spaces between two different communities. Mingling spaces in this research are manifested as a “third space” referred to as the ‘Dynamic Third Space’. Mingling space is dynamic because it is temporal, tends to disappear at any time, and can be permanent and also mobile. Mingling spaces exist due to shared goals, time, and access. These findings indicate a tendency towards spatial injustice, specifically for children, in obtaining their rights to suitable play spaces. © 2023 by authors. All rights reserved.

Authors: Suhirman S, Rianto R, Insap Santosa, Rio Yurianto

    Abstract

Indonesia is an agricultural country where most people work as farmers. As an agricultural country, Indonesia produces staple foods, such as rice, corn, sago, and fruits. This research uses the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), one of the popular algorithms in Deep Learning to classify two varieties of fruit using Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD) optimizer. The data used in this research is the primary data collected using a smartphone camera. The data are 400 images of two fruit varieties, Mango, and Avocado. The main research objective is to obtain the highest accuracy by modifying the classifier model and learning rate. The model modification, this research uses an ensemble system while in learning rate using an exponential scheduled learning rate. The result shows that the accuracy of the ensemble system is 0.99, the scheduled learning rate is 0.97, while without modifications is 0.53, respectively. However, when using the SGD optimizer to train CNN, it is advised to use a predefined learning rate. A shorter training period with sufficient model accuracy and practicality supports the scheduled learning rate. © 2023 Taylor’s University. All rights reserved.

Authors: Sopian Alviana, Taufik Djatna, Shelvie Nidya Neyman, Sri Wahjuni

    Abstract

Environmental changes in a dynamically changing system require monitoring and control to maximize the results obtained. This research aims to utilize an autonomous control process for cyber-physical systems using type 2 fuzzy logic, which has been fine-tuned to achieve optimal results. The initial framework employed involves developing an interaction framework between physical and cyber components within a cyber-physical system framework. The control process implemented utilizes type 2 fuzzy logic, incorporating uncertain values. Type 2 fuzzy logic is chosen to handle changes in parameter values effectively within the dynamic cyber-physical system environment. The results indicate that the control process employing type 2 fuzzy logic during the cyber-physical system tuning process yields a smaller error value than using type 1 fuzzy control. The accuracy achieved with type 2 fuzzy logic is 98.84% in the control process. Autonomous control plays a crucial role in the decision-making process, facilitating the attainment of optimal result values in controlling dynamic environments. © 2024 Taylor’s University. Abstract

The objective of this research is to examine the working postures of individuals in the manufacturing sector involved in drilling pipe production, utilizing the REBA and RULA methodologies. These methods serve to identify potential risks associated with the working positions adopted by workers, distinguishing between correct postures and those that may lead to problems. The research involved data collection through field observations and photographs capturing operators’ postures during work. Data processing entailed creating sketches of the operator’s posture and measuring the angles of each part using CorelDRAW. This facilitated aligning the measurement results with the RULA and REBA worksheets. The results indicated that the RULA method, when assessing the operator’s working posture while handling the spindle, yielded a final score of 5. The assessment outcome indicates a need for a thorough examination of the operator’s body positioning, and prompt implementation of alterations in working posture is essential. Conversely, the application of the REBA method to the operator’s stance while dealing with the iron pipe resulted in a score of 8, signifying a significant risk level. Immediate improvements in the working position are considered imperative. © 2024 Taylor’s University. All rights reserved.

    Abstract

This research aims to analyse the accuracy of the linear regression method in predicting the amount of vitamin A needed and providing information about predicting vitamin A needs within a specific period. Vitamin A is identified as the most crucial nutrient, necessitating external supplementation due to insufficient and low food consumption. The linear regression method is employed in this study, serving as a data analysis technique to predict unknown data values based on related and known data values. The dataset involves the number of vitamin A administrations in each district/city in West Java, Indonesia. Mean absolute perception error (MAPE) was utilized to assess prediction errors. The system requirements analysis used an object-oriented approach with Unified Modeming Language (UML) tools. The comprehensive prediction results yield an average accuracy of 86%, indicating that the linear regression method effectively predicts vitamin A needs in the subsequent period. Functional testing of the system demonstrates a 100% success rate, aligned with the needs analysis, thereby providing information on predicting vitamin A requirements within a specific period for each district/city in West Java. © 2024 Taylor’s University. Abstract

In a parking area, numerous issues exist, such as the lack of information to locate available parking spaces, leading to prolonged search times. To streamline and expedite the search for parking, a parking system can be designed to provide information about full and empty parking spaces. Employing an agile process to address parking challenges, the aim is to shorten queues and provide timely parking information. The envisioned outcome is a system enabling drivers, especially those with specialty vehicles, to identify parking spaces without manual searching. The parking information system prototype incorporates a 16×2 LCD for displaying parking space addresses, LED indicators, and the ability to showcase the number of available parking spaces, enhancing effectiveness and user accessibility. By preventing excessive queues through real-time information on vacant parking spaces, the system reduces congestion and provides smoother parking experiences for drivers. Each parking lot has an infrared sensor to determine occupancy status, while the LCD at the entrance relays information on available spaces. The LED is an indicator light, illuminating when a parking lot is vacant. The microcontroller is the central system, seamlessly connecting and coordinating each component. © 2024 Taylor’s University.
