BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Wednesday, July 22, 2026, The Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) has once again reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening a culture of innovative and impactful research through the 2026 Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) Research Grant Contract Signing Ceremony, organized by the Directorate of Research, Community Service, and Empowerment (DP3M) and held in the Seminar Room at UNIKOM Campus I. This event marked the first step in carrying out research projects that successfully secured funding from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek), while also ensuring that researchers are prepared to conduct their studies in accordance with the established outcome targets.
For the 2026 funding cycle, UNIKOM secured 11 research projects with a total grant amount of Rp1,595,590,000. This achievement demonstrates the improving quality and competitiveness of UNIKOM faculty members’ research, while also strengthening the university’s contribution to generating innovations that support national development through the Diktisaintek Berdampak program.
Based on the funding summary, the research grants received by UNIKOM cover various schemes, namely 1 project under the International Collaborative Research scheme with funding of Rp208,000,000; 4 projects under the Regular Fundamental Research scheme totaling Rp499,020,000; 2 projects under the Doctoral Dissertation Research scheme with funding of Rp106, 530,000, Applied Research – Prototype Output (1 project worth Rp318,560,000), Applied Research – Model Output (1 project with funding of Rp164,840,000), and Prototype Commercialization (2 projects with a total grant value of Rp298,640,000).
The Director of Research, Community Service, and Community Empowerment (DP3M) at UNIKOM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irawan Afrianto, S.T., M.T., explained that the contract signing ceremony is a crucial step in ensuring all grant recipients fully understand the research activities to be carried out. “Through this contract signing, we want to ensure that all principal investigators and research team members understand the work to be carried out from conducting the research, monitoring and evaluation, preparing the final report and financial report, to achieving the outcomes specified in each grant scheme,” he said.
Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irawan noted that UNIKOM’s success in securing nearly Rp1.6 billion in research grant funding is the result of the faculty members’ hard work in preparing competitive research proposals. According to him, this achievement is expected to serve as motivation for the entire academic community to continue improving research productivity and expanding research collaborations at both the national and international levels. “We hope today’s event will encourage other UNIKOM faculty members to become even more active in participating in research grant programs, both this year and in future funding cycles. The more research projects that are funded, the greater UNIKOM’s contribution will be in generating innovations that benefit society and support the advancement of science and technology,” he added.
The contract signing ceremony also served as a coordination forum for all researchers to understand the various stages of grant implementation, including monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, administrative management, financial reporting, and strategies for achieving research outcomes in accordance with Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemenditisaintek) regulations. Thus, every funded research project is expected to proceed effectively, accountably, and produce high-quality outcomes.
The achievement of these research grants aligns with UNIKOM’s commitment as a Digital Entrepreneurial University that continues to strengthen the three pillars of higher education through research, innovation, and collaboration. The diverse range of successfully funded research projects demonstrates UNIKOM faculty members’ capacity to conduct basic and applied research, develop models and prototypes, and commercialize research outcomes that provide tangible benefits to industry and society. Through this 2026 Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Research Grant funding, UNIKOM is optimistic that it will produce various strategic outputs in the form of reputable scientific publications, technological innovations, prototype products, development models, and the strengthening of national and international research collaboration networks. BANDUNG, UNIKOM – As a manifestation of its commitment and implementation in creating a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment, as well as strengthening the role of higher education institutions in delivering tangible impacts to society, Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) held the Socialization of the 2026 Impactful Student Community Service (KKN) on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Taking place at the 17th Floor Auditorium of the UNIKOM Smart Building, the event was attended by prospective KKN student participants as an initial briefing to prepare for the implementation of the community service program. The program focuses on community empowerment, resolving various environmental issues, and strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions and regional governments to actualize sustainable development.
Also present at the event were the Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs of UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Narimawati, Dra., S.E., M.Si., M.Pd.; the Director of Research, Community Service, and Empowerment (DP3M), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irawan Afrianto, M.T.; the Heads of Undergraduate Study Programs; the Head of the Counseling, Graduate Career, and Alumni Division, Dr. Nungki Heriyati, S.S., M.A.; as well as all student participants of the 2026 Impactful Community Service Program (KKN Berdampak) Socialization.
In her opening remarks, the Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs of UNIKOM, Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Narimawati, Dra., S.E., M.Si., stated that the implementation of the 2026 Impactful Community Service Program (KKN Berdampak) is the result of a collaboration between UNIKOM and the West Java Provincial Government in supporting the resolution of environmental issues, particularly urban waste management. According to her, this year, UNIKOM is making efforts to implement the Impactful Community Service Program from the West Java Provincial Government by deploying 500 students in an Impactful Community Service Programcentralized in the Coblong District area, Bandung City.
Prof. Umi further explained that the program is part of an effort to support the West Java Provincial Government’s policies regarding regional waste management. With the policy of gradually halting waste disposal to the Sarimukti Final Disposal Site (TPA), every region is encouraged to be capable of managing waste independently. Therefore, Coblong District was selected as the Impactful Community Service Program location considering UNIKOM is situated in the area, with the expectation that it can provide a tangible contribution to the surrounding community. Furthermore, Prof. Umi emphasized that the success of this program is not only measured by the execution of activities but also by the real impact generated in assisting the community, government, and other stakeholders in overcoming the waste problem. Students are expected to be able to provide education regarding the importance of sorting organic and inorganic waste, increase public awareness of environmental cleanliness, and encourage the implementation of sustainable waste management at the urban village level.
As a higher education institution that champions the spirit of digital innovation, UNIKOM adopted the theme “Synergizing to Build an Urban Village Based on Digital Innovation and Community Empowerment” for the implementation of the 2026 Impactful Community Service Program. Concluding her remarks, Prof. Umi invited all students to utilize this opportunity as a highly valuable learning experience. “Through this Impactful Community Service Program, let us together contribute to creating a clean, healthy environment free from waste problems. Continue to innovate and collaborate to deliver real solutions for the community. With a healthy environment, a strong and productive society will be born, and UNIKOM will continue to be a leading university in providing tangible contributions to regional and national development,” she concluded.
The series of events continued with remarks and directives from the Director of DP3M UNIKOM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irawan Afrianto, M.T., who comprehensively presented the implementation of the 2026 UNIKOM Impactful Community Service Program. The material delivered served as a foundation for students to understand the concepts, mechanisms, and objectives of the Impactful Community Service Program, which focuses on creating work programs oriented towards real impact, community empowerment, and the sustainability of activity results. Additionally, he explained that the implementation of the 2026 Impactful Community Service Program is focused on the Coblong District area as a form of UNIKOM’s concrete contribution to supporting the resolution of environmental issues that are of concern to the West Java Provincial Government, particularly regarding waste management.
According to him, through this program, students are expected to be able to present various ideas, concepts, and innovations that can assist the community in creating a more effective, efficient, and sustainable waste management system. “We hope that students can become agents of change by providing innovative solutions to the waste problems in Coblong District. Their presence is not only as Impactful Community Service Program participants but also as community partners in building a cleaner and healthier environment,” he stated.
Furthermore, Dr. Irawan explained that the participants of the Impactful Community Service Program are fifth and seventh-semester students who are assessed to have acquired the scientific knowledge corresponding to their respective fields of study. With their academic competencies, students are expected to be able to directly implement their knowledge by carrying out community empowerment programs that provide tangible benefits.
Through this socialization event, UNIKOM hopes that all students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the implementation of the 2026 Impactful Community Service Program, enabling them to design and implement innovative, collaborative community service programs that make a positive contribution to society. The Impactful Community Service Program is expected to not only be a part of the academic process but also serve as a medium for shaping the character of students who are caring, adaptive, and capable of presenting solutions to various social challenges in the community. BANDUNG, UNIKOM — OnMonday, March 9, 2026, the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DP3M) of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) held an Internal Research Grant Contract Signing Ceremony for the 2025–2026 academic year. Held in the Seminar Room of UNIKOM Campus I, this event was one of the university’s strategic agendas in encouraging the improvement of the quality and productivity of lecturers’ research as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education).
The Director of DP3M UNIKOM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irawan Afrianto, S.T., M.T., explained that the internal research grant program is a routine activity organized by UNIKOM to encourage lecturers to be more active and productive in conducting research. “Research is an important part of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi and is also one of the aspects of lecturer performance assessment. Through this internal research grant, UNIKOM provides facilities for lecturers to carry out research in both basic and applied research,”he said.
Furthermore, Dr. Irawan added that the results of the research are expected to produce various academic outputs and innovations, such as scientific publications in indexed national and international journals, book publications, and intellectual property rights (IPR) from the research products produced.
The UNIKOM internal research grant program is carried out over eight months with several stages of activities. These stages begin with the submission of research proposals, the signing of grant contracts, monitoring and evaluation (monev) in the middle of the research implementation, reporting of research results, to a research results seminar known as Seminar Hasil Penelitian (SEHATI), the Research Results Seminar. Through this seminar, the research results of lecturers can be disseminated to the academic community and the wider public.
For the 2025-2026 research grant period, DP3M UNIKOM received 39 research proposals from lecturers. After going through an evaluation process by reviewers, 29 proposals were approved for funding, consisting of 18 basic research proposals and 11 applied research proposals.
Dr. Irawan hopes that this program will not only enhance the research culture at UNIKOM but also have a broader impact on society. “The hope is that this internal research grant will encourage lecturers to be more active in conducting research, improve their SINTA scores through scientific publications, and produce works that benefit society. Additionally, the research outcomes can support faculty performance evaluations through reporting in the BKD system and other academic activities,” he concluded.

BANDUNG, UNIKOM – The Directorate of Research, Technology, and Community Service (DRTPM) regularly organizes research grant programs to support researchers and academics in carrying out innovative and beneficial research for the community. This research grant is given for various scientific fields, such as science and technology, social humanities, art, and culture. The Directorate of Research, Community Service, and Empowerment (DP3M) UNIKOM holds a Research Grant socialization every year.
DP3M held a socialization of preparations for submitting DRTPM 2025 research grants on Saturday, 8 February 2025. The socialization activity was attended by the lecturers of UNIKOM. This socialization began with the presentation of material by the Director of DP3M Irawan Afrianto, ST, MT. In his presentation there were several important agendas discussed, including: 1). Report on DRTPM Research – Kemdikbud DP3M UNIKOM 2024, 2). DRTPM 2025 Grant Exposure (Source of DRTPM 2024 Grant), 3). The concept of making a grant proposal in 1 hour.
The next material presentation was delivered by Eko Budi Setiawan, S.Kom., M.T., and Novriani Hasti, S.Si, M.T., who both explained about the DRTPM grant exposure and two important points, such as research requirements and tips for writing research grant proposals. On this occasion, Eko said that “a good grant proposal is a proposal that follows the guidelines and is not prepared impromptu.” He said.
This socialization activity is expected to increase the participation and collaboration of UNIKOM lecturers in submitting DRTPM 2025 research grant proposals and improve the quality of proposals submitted from various scientific disciplines at UNIKOM. BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Benchmarking between universities is an activity that aims to compare the performance, practices, or processes of a university with other universities that are recognized as excellent in their fields. The purpose of this activity is to identify strengths and weaknesses, and adopt best practices to improve the quality of education and services provided. One of the benchmarking activities carried out was between Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) and Universitas Pelita Bangsa (UPB).
On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the Directorate of Research, Service, and Community Empowerment (DP3M) of UNIKOM together with the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DP2M) of UPB held a benchmarking event which was also equipped with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). The event took place in Room L.030, 1st Floor of UNIKOM’s Smart Building.
Director of DP3M UNIKOM, Irawan Afriyanto, ST, MT, in his welcome greetings said, “Alhamdulillah, this is the first visit for our Directorate. Thank you for choosing us as a place for benchmarking and cooperation. Hopefully in the future we can do research and community service together.” he said.
The Director of DP2M UPB also expressed his gratitude to UNIKOM, “We thank UNIKOM for welcoming us warmly. Our goal at UNIKOM is to learn about the management of research and community service and collaborate in other fields with UNIKOM which has achieved extraordinary achievements.” he concluded.
The event then continued with the signing of the MoA by the Director of DP3M UNIKOM, Irawan Afriyanto, ST., MT, and the Director of DP2M UPB, in the presence of the Directors and Heads of Study Programs from each University.
The discussion session took place warmly, where UPB asked various questions to UNIKOM regarding the management of research and community service. This discussion was very productive and friendly, UNIKOM also shared experiences regarding various achievements and strategies in achieving these goals.
This benchmarking visit created a great opportunity for collaboration between UNIKOM and UPB in the field of research and community service. Through the signing of the MoA, both parties agreed to exchange knowledge and experience to improve the quality of education and contribution to society. This partnership aims to strengthen collaboration between universities and research institutions in developing innovation, applied research, and more effective community empowerment in Indonesia.
This exploration is a strategic step for both parties to utilise the potential of research and community service to generate solutions that directly benefit the community. DP3M UNIKOM, focuses on the development of science, technology, and community empowerment, is committed to collaborating with Brain IPB in creating programs that can positively impact people’s lives.
“This collaborative exploration is crucial for strengthening the research ecosystem in Indonesia, especially between the Universitas Komputer Indonesia and IPB University through BRAIN, which focuses on technology development, implementation, and community empowerment. We hope through this collaboration, we can deliver research that is more relevant to the real needs of society and applicable across various sectors,” said Irawan Afrianto, ST., MT., Director of DP3M UNIKOM.
Meanwhile, a representative from Brain IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yandra Arkeman, M.Eng., stated that this collaborative exploration will provide an opportunity for both institutions to share knowledge and experience in developing technology-based research and innovation. “By combining the research potential of Brain IPB and DP3M UNIKOM, we hope to produce programs that lead to more sustainable and applicable community empowerment,” he said.
This collaboration is expected to open up opportunities for applied technology development, joint research, and more beneficial community service programs. Furthermore, it aims to improve the quality of human resources through research-based training and education.
The event was also attended by Directorates and divisions related to the objectives of this event, both under the Vice Rector III of UNIKOM and Vice Rector IV of UNIKOM. The plan for this collaboration exploration to be followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will further regulate the scope of cooperation between UNIKOM and Brain IPB.
