  • Ibn Al-Haytham’S Classification of Knowledge

    Ibn Al-Haytham’S Classification of Knowledge

Authors: Usep Mohamad Ishaq, Wan Mohd Nor Wan Daud

    DOI: 10.14421/ajis.2017.551.189-210

    Abstract

Ibn al-Haytham (d. 1039) is a well known scholar for his contributions in natural and mathematical sciences. The research focuses on his works in sciences and mathematics and only a few studies carry out on his contribution on philosophy due to the lack of the primary sources. The only known surviving Ibn al-Haytham’s work on philosophy is Kitāb Thamarah al-hikmah. However, few studies have examined and explored this work. Based on this work, the present study tries to scrutinize Ibn al-Haytham’s epistemology and focused mainly on his classification of knowledge. The comparative study of Ibn al-Haytham’s classification of knowledge and that of al-Fārābī’s, Ibn Hazm’s, Tūsī’s, and al-Ghāzālī is also carried out. The result shows that Ibn al-Haytham has two mode of classifications: the ontological and epistemological. It is also obvious that Ibn al-Haytham tries to integrate Greek philosophy and sciences within the worldview of Islam. The results of the present study also suggests that the nexus between the concept of classification of knowledge and the concept of perfect man (al-insāan al-tāmm) is obvious.

Authors: Bella Hardiyana ; Shinobu Hasegawa

    DOI: https://doi.org/10.37934/araset.31.1.355364

    Abstract

Angklung is a traditional musical instrument from West Java, Indonesia. To play a song using this instrument can only be played in groups. The size of the musical instrument is quite large and prone to damage if carried anywhere, making it challenging to practice except in schools or music clubs. Since the pandemic, it has become increasingly difficult for students to practice angklung due to the limitations of face-to-face learning. This study aims to make it easier for students to practice and play angklung. The system is based on online multiplayer games so that students can learn and play angklung with more fun, and players can play anywhere. Players can use the mobile version of the angklung application as a substitute for the angklung instrument. Players can perform a duet with other players in playing the same song. The results of the player’s performance will be displayed as scores and stored in the database. Besides that, a real-time feedback function is always displayed for each note played. To distinguish individual players and/or notes, we use vibration sensor technology installed in each mobile application or signal processing, and the system will recognise them properly. We propose a Short-time Fourier Transform (STFT) algorithm as a scoring system and realtime-feedback performance. We use class diagrams to describe the whole application system and describe the functionality of the system in detail. We collect some research related to angklung and technology. Currently, there is a little study that could answer all the problems of learning and training angklung. The results of this study in the form of a system design are the initial research stage and are used for the following research phase. In conclusion, the design of this study can solve the existing problems so that the system will make it easier for students to practice and play angklung.

    Abstract

Educational games are currently widely used as supporting media in the teaching and learning process. One of the elementary school subjects that require supporting media is mathematics. In the process of making interactive mathematics educational games for elementary school students, game developers must make a design first. The appropriate design method for this research is the Digital Game-Based Learning-Instructional Design (DGBL-ID) method. The DGBL-ID method is a development method for making educational games that can be adapted to learning materials. The purpose of this research is to help game developers in making mathematical game applications that are adapted to the 2013 curriculum that is currently applied. The focus of this research is on the analysis and design stages contained in the DGBL-ID method. The results of this research are in the form of designing games-based interactive mathematics learning media that can be used as a guide for game developers in making interactive mathematics educational games. Experimental Study of Dam Break Flow Generated by The Flap Gate in Horizontal Channel

Authors: Vitta Pratiwi ; Muhammad Syahril Badri Kusuma ; Hadi Kardhana ; Mohammad Farid

    DOI: 10.21660/2020.75.16098

    Abstract

The risk of dam break failure become one of the most important issues to decide the feasibility of reservoir and dam development in Indonesia. This paper presents an experimental work result of a dam break flow through a single oblique obstruction in a straight rectangular channel. The dam break flow was generated by a sudden swing of a flap gate set on the contraction join of a horizontal reservoir and a horizontal channel. The initial condition of the dam break flow is set up based on the water height in this reservoir. A spatial temporal measurement of depth and velocity of the generated dam-break flow was conducted around the obstruction. The flow depth was measured using an ultrasonic-based sensor supported by a GPRS communication system, and the flow velocity was measured using a high-speed type current meter. Less correlation between the measured depth and velocity flow in the first of three seconds after the flow generation, where the flow has a high intensity of turbulent, was observed due to the limitation of data acquisition capacity. Compared to Noel’s experimental works where the dam-break mechanism is simulated using an uplift gate, the flow depth and velocity profiles of the current experimental work have a good agreement in its pattern and in less agreement in its magnitude. Meanwhile, compared to Noel’s numerical model result, it has fewer agreement results. These differences might be occurred due to the influences of differences dam break mechanism and data acquisition system. © 2020, Int. J. of GEOMATE.

Chatbot Based Applications on Smart Home Use Natural Language Processing

Authors: Sri Nurhayati ; Joko Purwantoa

    DOI: 10.18517/ijaseit.11.2.10537

    Abstract

Smart Home technology development is directly proportional to the emergence of various applications as access media. Currently, many Smart Home applications do not use the concept of human-machine interaction (HMI). The problem that often arises in the interaction between humans and machines is that humans must understand what the machine wants to have wrong perceptions about the system. In this study, the solution is proposed with the HMI concept, which uses natural language interaction through the chatbot application as an interactive medium to control and monitor Smart Home devices. In this study, the chatbot application implements the Natural Language Processing (NLP) text recognition process. User acceptance of the system is carried out using the evaluation stage. Thirty users participated in an in-depth usage study in which they tackled using the system. This research aims to create an application that can make it easier for users to control various devices on a Smart Home through natural language interaction and to analyze the performance of the NLP method. The results showed that most users (90%) believed that the application can help users control and monitor Smart Home devices. The NLP application on the chatbot application provides a success rate of 93.3% where the results obtained from the chatbot response depend on the completeness of the token. © 2021. Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to design a digital platform design as one solution to solving poverty problems that exist in the community with various causes. Poverty is a complex problem caused by multidimensionality. The cause of poverty is not only a problem of economic inequality but also caused by social problems, education, and lack of access to communicate or communication. The methodology used in this research is Sociotechnical System (STS), STS analysis used six attributes, namely goals, people, buildings/infrastructure, technology, culture, and processes/procedures. This approach (STS) analyzes approaches based on social problems and technical problems. The final results of this study created a digital platform design as a public space to capture community participation in order to care and want to share with poor communities in the form of entrepreneurship training groups (UKM). This technology becomes a tool to help in educating society, not a rival of the community in accordance with the principles of society 5.0.
