Authors: Muhammad Rizky Firdaus, Budi Herdiana, Rio Muhammad Iskandar

    Abstract

Dipole antennas are quite popular in various research in the field of antenna technology. Many models and modifications have been made to obtain optimal performance according to the application field. Of the many models of this antenna, it turns out that not many of this type of antenna has the same function as a transmitting and receiving antenna. Therefore, the aim to be achieved in this research is to model a half-wavelength open UHF dipole antenna to work well on UHF broadcast frequency allocation. The method to realize this is using a comparative test approach, which begins with designing a physical model of the antenna, then it is tested by an antenna plotter detector automatically, the result is a visualization of the shape of the antenna radiation pattern. From this radiation pattern, the gain angle area, transmit power, receiving power, and Return Loss will be seen. Based on the test results, the maximum transmit power of each antenna is 121 mWatt and the received power is 97 mWatt with a return loss value of -18.78 dB at the broadcast UHF frequency of 428.5 MHz. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.

  • Improving the Performance of Laston AC-WC Padding with the Utilization of Nickel Slag Waste

Improving the Performance of Laston AC-WC Padding with the Utilization of Nickel Slag Waste

    Authors: Falderika, Nur Fitrah

    Abstract

Utilization of waste as part of the road pavement material is an important issue. This is caused by the decreasing availability of natural materials as road raw materials and the increasing costs for procurement as well as the process of obtaining aggregates. As a result, alternative materials are needed and one of them is nickel slag. Nickel slag is categorized as Toxic and Hazardous waste (B3), so testing is needed to determine the content of the hazardous substances. The value of the Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) test is smaller and meets the requirements, the results of testing the physical characteristics of nickel slag also meet the requirements used in road construction materials. The purpose of this study is to analyse the effect of using nickel slag on the performance of the Laston mixture (AC-WC). The tests were carried out based on the empirical method with the Marshall test which refers to the provisions of the properties of the Laston mixture (AC-WC) General Specifications for Roads and Bridges of Highways, Bina Marga, 2018. Variations in Reference Asphalt Content (KAA) used are 5%, 5.5%, 6%, 6.5%, and 7%. Based on the analysis results of the Marshall test, it is known that the use of nickel slag has better performance in terms of the higher Marshall stability value of 1803 kg compared to 1660 kg in a mixture without nickel slag. From the results of the tests and analyses carried out this nickel slag waste can be used as a new material in the asphalt mixture so that the impact is that the waste can be reused. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.

  • Designing Collaborative Augmented Reality Geographic Information System for Land Suitability Visualization

Designing Collaborative Augmented Reality Geographic Information System for Land Suitability Visualization

    Authors: Hanhan Maulana, Kanai H

    Abstract

This study aims to visualize the potential agricultural land suitability using the Collaborative Augmented Reality Geographical Information System (AR-GIS). In agriculture decision-making, geographical aspect is one of the important factors to be considered. However, there are plenty of limitation in the early AR platform and one of which is the limitation on the number of users. Cloud-based anchor points are able to overcome this limitation by connecting multiple users via the internet which allows them to see, interact, and synchronize a digital context simultaneously. Through this technology, this research was divided into two stages. The first stage is to make a land suitability map. The second stage is the development of Collaborative AR GIS by adopting a user-centred design approach. This study integrates GIS with AR visualization capabilities to visualize land suitability maps then enable multi-user collaboration work based on AR Object. This study developed an AR-GIS-based system using UNITY 3D. The built AR GIS was based on multi-platform to overcome the various mobile device platforms used by farmers which then integrated with Cloud anchors to connect one device to another. Cloud anchors enable collaborative work between farmers and other stakeholders. This study evaluates the system performance using two devices that have different specifications. Based on the evaluation result, good maps visualization is able to be provided by the collaborative AR-GIS. The collaborative AR technology also gives an alternative visualization as well as alternative interaction with maps that have multiple users. This system is envisioned to improve the understanding of farmers towards land suitability map. It is expected that the collaborative AR-GIS system is able to provide a helpful aid to the farmers in terms of decision-making. With well-informed decision and insight on land suitability map, the risk of crop failure can be minimised, and the agricultural sector’s productivity can be increased. © 2023 Taylor’s University.
