Adaptation of new technology in e-learning begins with psychological motivation from students, where this becomes important related to the success of the e-learning concept. Examining the phenomenon, this study aims to investigate the relationship between student psychological motivation and expected benefits, e-learning curriculum, and educational partners. The research was conducted on students in the city of Bandung through a quantitative survey. The data from students was taken through a questionnaire and the tabulated data from the questionnaire was processed using SmartPLS. There is a research model based on the design of the research hypothesis being tested. The results showed that the expected benefit and e-learning curriculum had a positive relationship with psychological motivation. Meanwhile, educational partners do not have a positive relationship with psychological motivation. Furthermore, it is known that the expected benefit has the biggest impact in supporting the psychological motivation of students. Psychological motivation is important related to the adaptation of new technology in e-learning, because it is a factor that can increase the success of using e-learning as a learning medium. The findings of this study can be used as input for universities in reviewing the concept of e-learning so that it can be well received by its users.

BANDUNG, UNIKOM – An ideal traditional market is not merely a place for buying and selling but also a comfortable, safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing public space that reflects local cultural identity. For example, the atmosphere of Cijerah Market, located on Jl. Cijerah Girang, Bandung Kulon, Bandung City, West Java, now looks more vibrant and colorful. Through a Community Service (PkM) activity initiated by lecturers and master’s students in the Design of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), they presented mural artworks full of social and cultural messages in the market area that is currently being revitalized.
The PkM program that has been implemented is part of the 2025 Community Empowerment Partnership scheme funded by BIMA Kemdiktisaintek, with the main objective of improving the marketing quality of traders while strengthening the image of traditional markets as a pillar of the people’s economy.
The PkM activity, which was held on August 9 and 10, 2025, involved various parties, including academics, students, and the surrounding community. Dr. Yully, Yully Ambarsih Ekawardhani, M.Sn., as the head of the implementation team, together with the Head of the Master of Design Study Program, Dr. Taufan Hidayatullah, M.Ds., and lecturer of the Graphic Design Study Program, Ivan Kurniawan, M.Ds, who were assisted by the Visual Communication Design (DKV) Student Association of UNIKOM, and the local youth community.
Dr. Yully stated, “The mural we created is not only to decorate the market area, but also contains a message encouraging people to return to shopping at traditional markets. This work is in line with the community empowerment mission carried out by PkM UNIKOM.”
The mural is located at Cijerah Market, Bandung, precisely in the area that is currently being used temporarily during the construction of the new market. The revitalization of the market refers to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 8152:2021 on Traditional Markets, which emphasizes the importance of market management and comfort in the modern era. “This mural symbolizes a new spirit for merchants, depicting the transformation of traditional markets towards a more modern era without losing their cultural and social values,” added Dr. Yully.
The mural concept displayed on the galvanized walls of Cijerah Market, consists of five main parts, each conveying a strong message, including: 1) The history of the market with depictions of sado or horse-drawn carriages as a typical mode of transportation in the past; 2) Children who grew up with traditional markets, depicting the value of intergenerational togetherness; 3) Cart transporting products, symbolizing hard work and economic activity of the people; 4) Women exercising, symbolizing a healthy lifestyle and social togetherness; and 5) Merchants welcoming buyers, representing the spirit of service and hospitality of the people’s market.
The mural was created using a systematic method, starting with the design sketch, color guide, and gradual coloring process using gradation techniques and illustrative details. Challenges arose because the mural medium was a corrugated galvanized wall, which required extra precision from the painters. More than just a visual work, the mural at Cijerah Market became a means of social empowerment that encouraged community participation while strengthening the identity of the people’s market as a cultural and economic space.This activity demonstrates how higher education institutions, particularly UNIKOM, can bridge the academic world with the community through a creative design-based approach. BANDUNG, UNIKOM – The Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) Bandung again recorded a brilliant achievement by winning 5 Medals at the Bandung Lautan Api Championship 6. This championship took place on January 4-5, 2025 at the GOR Gymnasium UPI Setia Budi Bandung, attended by thousands of participants from various universities, clubs, and pencak silat schools in Indonesia.
The 6th Bandung Lautan Api Championship is one of the largest Pencak Silat competitions in West Java, attracting participants from pre-school to adult/university students from various regions. This event serves as a platform to showcase skills and strengthen bonds among pencak silat practitioners.
This year, UNIKOM Pencak Silat UKM managed to bring home 5 medals, namely 1 Gold Medal (Class G Match) won by Fa’i Refriandi from the Informatics Engineering Study Program, 1 Silver Medal (Single Arts) won by Delia Aksani Puspitasari from the Informatics Engineering Study Program and 3 Bronze Medals (Single Arts) won by Chandra Abdul Aziz from the Information Systems Study Program, Bronze (Class F Match) Dian Lestari from the Accounting Study Program, Bronze (Class D Match) won by Muhammad Aris Azfa Assathin Supriyadi from the Information Systems Study Program.
Dr. Ony Widilestariningtyas, SE., MSi., Ak., CA. as the Advisor of the Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit (UKM) UNIKOM when asked for her statement said “I fully support and feel proud of the success of the Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit (UKM) team in the BLAC 6 championship. High appreciation for the hard work, discipline, and fighting spirit of the team members. This success is expected to be a motivation to continue improve achievements in the future and bring the good name of UKM and UNIKOM to a higher level,” she said.
In line with the results achieved by the UNIKOM Pencak Silat UKM, as Chair, Anita told the UNIKOM Public Relations Team about the training process carried out by her team. She explained, “The training process for each individual includes intensive physical training and technical materials, carried out for approximately two months. The training materials include various techniques such as throws, pulls, scissors, and kicks, all of which are adjusted to the needs and regulations of the latest IPSI competition in 2022. Meanwhile, physical training is carried out to increase endurance and strength. One of the physical exercises carried out is the beep test, which aims to measure endurance capabilities and how far athletes can last running to reach a certain level, to ensure athletes are able to survive during the match, in the future hopefully we can compete in the next championship at a higher level with more proud achievements,” she concluded.
A sense of pride also enveloped the Director of Student Affairs of UNIKOM, Andrias Darmayadi, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., proudly said, “Alhamdulillah, UKM Pencak Silat has again contributed its achievements at the beginning of 2025 from the National Pencak Silat Championship Bandung Lautan Api Championship 6 … I congratulate and express my highest appreciation to UKM Pencak Silat and of course to the athletes who won … We hope that this achievement will be a trigger for other achievements for our beloved Campus,” he concluded.
This success is not only a source of pride for the entire UNIKOM academic community, but also proves that a strong fighting spirit and dedication can produce brilliant results. In the competition, which was attended by thousands of participants from various universities and pencak silat clubs across Indonesia, UNIKOM’s Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit successfully demonstrated its best quality and potential. This achievement further strengthens UNIKOM’s position as a center of excellence in the field of martial arts and will continue to inspire the next generation to continue to excel at the national and international levels.
