    UNIIKOM Promotes Higher Education Transformation Through the AI Learning Lab: Exploring Agentic AI in Partnership with Google Cloud, Data Script,and APTISI Jabar

    BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) hosted the “AI Learning Lab: Agentic AI Transformation” event at the Auditorium on the 17th floor of the UNIKOM Smart Building. The event brought together academics, university leaders, technology practitioners, and industry partners to explore the latest developments in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its application in transforming higher education. Organized through a collaboration between UNIKOM, the West Java Association of Indonesian Private Higher Education Institutions (APTISI West Java), Google Cloud, Google for Education, Ingram Micro Indonesia, and Datascrip Turbo Edu, the event served as a strategic platform to strengthen higher education institutions’ understanding of Agentic AI, a new generation of artificial intelligence capable not only of generating information, but also of reasoning, making decisions, and autonomously performing tasks based on defined objectives.

    Also in attendance were a number of key figures from the worlds of education and the technology industry, including representatives from APTISI West Java, UNIKOM leadership, heads of higher education institutions affiliated with APTISI West Java, school principals, vice principals, teachers, and educators from various high schools and vocational schools in West Java. Also in attendance were representatives from technology industry partners, namely Google Cloud, Google for Education, Ingram Micro Indonesia, and Datascrip Turbo Edu, including the Google Cloud Product Manager at Ingram Micro Indonesia, the Google Solutions Specialist at Datascrip Turbo Edu, the Education Lead at Google Cloud Indonesia, and the Program Manager at Google for Education. 

    UNIKOM First Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Narimawati, Dra., S.E., M.Si., M.Pd., emphasized in her opening remarks UNIKOM commitment to supporting digital transformation and the use of AI technology within the higher education sector. According to her, AI is not intended to replace humans but rather to serve as a strategic partner that can enhance the effectiveness of the learning process, institutional management, and technology-based innovation.

    Prof. Umi explained that AI technology is advancing at a rapid pace and will continue to give rise to new and increasingly sophisticated innovations. However, she cautioned that technological progress must be balanced with the strengthening of character and human values. “Technology will continue to evolve and become increasingly sophisticated. However, the future will still require people who possess ethics, integrity, empathy, and critical thinking skills. These values are essential foundations that cannot be replaced by technology”, she said.

    Furthermore, Prof. Umi urged all universities to utilize AI wisely as a means to improve the quality of education, research, and community service. According to her, successful digital transformation is determined not only by the sophistication of the technology used but also by the readiness of human resources to adapt to change.

    On the same occasion, Indira Bagus Sugiharto, Product Manager for Google Cloud at Ingram Micro Indonesia, expressed her appreciation in her remarks to UNIKOM and all partners for organizing a learning forum on AI transformation in education. According to Indira, AI is currently evolving at a rapid pace, so educational institutions must continuously enhance their capacity and understanding to make optimal use of the technology. She emphasized that AI should not be viewed as a threat, but rather as a tool that can help improve the quality of the learning process and the management of educational institutions. “Technology will continue to evolve constantly. What matters most is how we utilize it to develop outstanding, creative human resources capable of competing globally. AI is not here to replace humans, but to help humans work more effectively and productively”, he stated.

    Indira also commended UNIKOM’s consistent efforts to offer various digital transformation and technology-based competency development programs for both the academic community and the general public. According to her, collaboration between the education sector and industry is a key factor in preparing the next generation to thrive in the digital age.

    In addition, Edwin Wijaya, Google Solutions Specialist at Datascrip Turbo Edu, emphasized the importance of human resource readiness in facing the changes brought about by AI technology. He explained that digital transformation is not only about the use of the latest technology but also concerns people’s ability to adapt and utilize it responsibly.

    Edwin also added that AI has great potential to help educational institutions create learning processes that are more personalized, interactive, and innovative. However, the successful implementation of AI still requires the support of ethical values, integrity, creativity, and the ability to collaborate. “Technological development cannot be stopped. Therefore, what matters most is how we use it wisely and responsibly. Technical skills must go hand in hand with strong character so that technology truly benefits society,” explained Edwin. He also expressed hope that the collaboration between Google, Datascrip Turbo Edu, Ingram Micro Indonesia, APTISI West Java, and UNIKOM would continue to deliver various capacity building programs that support technology-driven educational transformation in Indonesia.

    Participants received various presentations on the implementation of artificial intelligence in education. The topics presented by the speakers included: Pandu Satrio Nugroho, Program Manager at Google for Education, who discussed “AI Learning Lab and the Google Reference University Program.” Meanwhile, Sugiyanto Yoannatan Widjaja, Education Lead at Google Cloud Indonesia, delivered a presentation titled “Gemini Enterprise for Education & the Google Career Launchpad Program.” 

    On this occasion, the Coordinator of the UNIKOM EduPlus Team and Deputy Vice Rector IV of UNIKOM, Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D., also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all parties who contributed to the organization of the “AI Learning Lab: Agentic AI Transformation” event. According to him, the event was organized in response to the new era currently unfolding, in which advancements in artificial intelligence are having a significant impact on various aspects of life, including the world of education.

    Adam, Ph.D., also explained that AI has become an integral part of modern educational transformation. Therefore, higher education institutions need to prepare themselves by enhancing digital literacy, technological competencies, and building a learning ecosystem that is adaptable to the changing times. “We have now entered a new era that is having a major impact on the world of education in Indonesia. I’m sure you’re all very familiar with the term ‘Artificial Intelligence’ or ‘AI.’ Through this event, we hope all participants will gain deeper insights and a better understanding of how AI can be utilized to support the transformation of higher education,” he said.

    As part of the event series, participants were also given the opportunity to visit UNIKOM AI Learning Center, located in the lobby of UNIKOM’s Smart Building. This facility serves as a tangible manifestation of UNIKOM’s commitment to providing a learning environment based on cutting-edge technology that supports the development of digital competencies among students, faculty, and the broader community.

    Through the AI Learning Lab: Agentic AI Transformation, UNIKOM once again reaffirms its role as a university that actively promotes innovation and technological adaptation in the era of artificial intelligence. This event is expected to strengthen the synergy between the education sector and the technology industry, while accelerating the transformation of higher education toward a smarter, more adaptive, and globally competitive educational ecosystem.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM – On Thursday, May 21, 2026, Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) hosted a benchmarking visit from Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Kedirgantaraan (STTKD) Yogyakarta. Held in the Grand Meeting Room on the 15th floor of the UNIKOM Smart Building, the event served as a strategic platform for sharing experiences and best practices, as well as strengthening synergy in the management of outstanding and competitive private universities. UNIKOM was chosen as the destination for the visit because it is regarded as one of the fastest-growing private universities in Indonesia, with an “Excellent” accreditation, numerous academic and non-academic achievements, and a strong commitment to the development of technology and educational innovation.

    The STTKD Yogyakarta delegation was led directly by the Chair of STTKD, Dr. Erwhin Irmawan, S.Si., M.Cs., along with members of the leaders team, the senate, and the quality assurance team. The delegation was welcomed by UNIKOM’s Vice Rector II for Resources, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus Riyanto, S.T., M.T., CSBA., accompanied by Deputy Vice Rector IV, Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D., and the Director of PTDSI, Irfan Dwiguna Sumitra, S.Kom., M.Kom., Ph.D.

    In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus Riyanto, S.T., M.T., CSBA., warmly welcomed STTKD Yogyakarta’s initiative to collaborate with UNIKOM. He also noted that UNIKOM and STTKD share a common vision as private universities committed to continuously improving the quality of higher education in Indonesia. Therefore, this benchmarking activity is expected not only to serve as a platform for sharing experiences but also to become the first step toward building sustainable and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two institutions.

    Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus explained that the Excellent Accreditation achieved by UNIKOM is the result of a long process grounded in commitment, hard work, and synergy among the entire academic community in continuously enhancing the quality of higher education. He emphasized that this success was not achieved overnight but rather through extensive preparation and strategic efforts carried out consistently over time.

    Meanwhile, Dr. Erwhin Irmawan, S.Si., M.Cs., expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended by UNIKOM. He explained that STTKD primarily focuses on the fields of aviation and aerospace, including the development of competencies in avionics, aeronautical engineering, and aircraft manufacturing. According to him, UNIKOM was selected as the benchmarking destination because it is recognized as an outstanding institution with numerous inspiring achievements, including its success in obtaining Excellent Accreditation in 2023. Therefore, Dr. Erwhin noted that the visit is expected to provide valuable insights and references to support improvements in governance, quality assurance, and institutional development within STTKD.

    The activity continued with a discussion and benchmarking session covering various strategic aspects of university management, including institutional governance, the roles and functions of the senate, infrastructure and laboratory development, institutional branding strategies, and efforts to enhance the quality of the Tridharma of Higher Education. The discussion was highly interactive and produced several key points: (1) strategies for achieving Excellent and international accreditation; (2) organizational governance and the role of the senate; (3) human resource development; (4) strengthening research culture and scientific publication; (5) digital transformation and the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI); (6) strategies for becoming a world-class university; and (7) potential areas of collaboration between UNIKOM and STTKD.

    Through the benchmarking activity, both institutions hope to create broader opportunities for collaboration in the fields of education, research, community service, and human resource development, thereby contributing to the advancement of higher education in Indonesia.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM — The Accounting Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), in collaboration with the UNIKOM Eduplus Team, held a training session titled “Why Artificial Intelligence Matters in Accounting” on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the Miracle Auditorium on the 4th floor of UNIKOM Campus I. This event is part of an effort to enhance students’ competencies in addressing digital transformation in the field of accounting through the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

    The interactive training featured speakers from the UNIKOM Eduplus Team: Eduplus Coordinator and Deputy Vice Rector IV, Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D.; Bella Hardiyana, S.Kom., M.Kom., Ph.D., and Irfan Dwiguna Sumitra, S.Kom., M.Kom., Ph.D. In their presentations, the speakers explained various implementations of AI technology, including the use of Google AI in modern accounting processes, ranging from financial record automation and data analysis to data-driven business decision-making.

    The Head of the Accounting Program at FEB UNIKOM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sri Dewi Anggadini, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., emphasized in her opening remarks the importance of mastering technology for accounting students as preparation for the ever-evolving dynamics of the industry. “Technological advancements, particularly artificial intelligence, have significantly transformed the way accounting is conducted. Students need to understand and be able to utilize this technology to be ready to face industry challenges,” she said.

    A total of 214 participants, consisting of Accounting Program students, faculty members, and educational staff, enthusiastically attended the event. This was evident from the high level of participant engagement in the interactive discussion sessions addressing the opportunities and challenges of AI implementation in the field of accounting.

    In addition to the training, the event also included a competency certification exam organized by the UNIKOM Eduplus Team. This certification serves as both an evaluation and a means to strengthen participants’ competencies in practically understanding and implementing AI technology in the field of accounting.

    Through this training and certification program, the UNIKOM FEB Accounting Program demonstrated its commitment to supporting the development of human resources capable of adapting to technological advancements. It is hoped that UNIKOM accounting students will be better prepared to face the era of accounting digitalization and be able to compete in a global workforce driven by technology and data.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM – On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) officially inaugurated an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory resulting from a strategic collaboration with Google AI. The UNIKOM X Google Learning Center Artificial Intelligence Laboratory affirms UNIKOM’s position as the first university in Indonesia to establish an AI learning center integrated with Google’s technology ecosystem. This collaboration was initiated by the Directorate of IT Infrastructure & Network (INFRANET) at UNIKOM, which began the development and construction process of the AI Laboratory in August 2025, culminating in its official inauguration on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

    The inauguration ceremony, held in Room L.018 of the UNIKOM Smart Building, was attended by Prof. 3 Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T. (Rector of UNIKOM and Chairman of APTISI West Java) and witnessed by the entire university leaders, including the Vice Rectors, Deans, Heads of Study Programs, and the Edu Plus Team of UNIKOM including, Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D. (Team Coordinator), Berny Indrawan, S.T., M.Kom. (Director of INFRANET), Irfan Dwiguna Sumitra, S.Kom., M.Kom., Ph.D. (Director of PTDSI), along with the entire team. The event was also attended in person by the Country Lead of Google for Education Indonesia, Olivia Husli Basrin, together with the Digital Transformation team, Kristiyanto and Ahmad Fikri Dzulfikar, as well as Google partner representatives from PT Datascript and PT Turbo, including Jefferey Susanto Situmorang (Branch Sales Manager), Egi Singgih Prasetyo (Business Executive), and Edwin Wijaya (Google Solutions Specialist).

    In his remarks, Prof. 3 Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T., stated that the establishment of the AI Laboratory represents UNIKOM’s strategic step in responding to the rapidly evolving dynamics of global technology development. The current era is defined by digital transformation supported by artificial intelligence, intelligent computing, and data-driven system integration. Therefore, the presence of the AI Lab becomes both a fundamental necessity and a long-term institutional investment.

    Furthermore, Prof. Eddy explained, “UNIKOM has taken a strategic position by establishing collaboration with Google through the Google Learning Center program. This collaboration makes UNIKOM the first university in Indonesia to develop an AI laboratory based on a strategic partnership with a global technology company. This is not merely a symbol of cooperation, but a manifestation of our commitment to bringing world-class learning standards and technology ecosystems into the campus environment,” he concluded.

    The Coordinator of the UNIKOM Eduplus Team, Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D., stated, “Today marks an important milestone. The facilities that have been gradually prepared are now officially ready to be utilized optimally. Moving forward, strengthening an AI-based curriculum has become a strategic necessity. The scope of this program is not limited to teaching alone. We are also opening opportunities for research collaboration, industry mentoring, and community empowerment programs. In this way, the AI ecosystem at UNIKOM can generate broader impacts, not only for the academic community but also for external partners and the wider public.”

    Meanwhile, the Country Lead of Google for Education Indonesia, Olivia Basrin, stated in her speech, “We highly appreciate UNIKOM’s progressive step as the first university in Indonesia to establish an AI Center through strategic collaboration with Google, an initiative that has previously been implemented in Singapore and South Korea and is now pioneered in Indonesia by UNIKOM. We hope this initiative will not only benefit UNIKOM but also inspire and serve as a catalyst for other universities in Indonesia to develop integrated and globally competitive AI ecosystems,” she emphasized.

    The inauguration ceremony was marked by a ribbon-cutting and plaque-signing, followed by a tour of the laboratory facilities as a symbol of the ongoing partnership between UNIKOM and Google Indonesia. The development of the AI Laboratory was the result of collaboration among various internal units at UNIKOM together with Google, including the Directorate of Technology and Information Systems Development (PTDSI) and the Directorate of INFRANET, which played key roles in planning, infrastructure development, and the implementation of technology within the laboratory.

    The event also featured an interactive demonstration session where students presented a simulation of the laboratory visit flow, illustrating the user experience from registration to exploring AI devices and systems. The event continued with a presentation on the laboratory’s features by Berny Indrawan, S.T., M.Kom. and Irfan Dwiguna Sumitra, S.Kom., M.Kom., Ph.D., who explained the integration of computing systems, support from Google platforms, and infrastructure for machine learning and AI-based project development. This session was moderated directly by the Coordinator of the UNIKOM Eduplus Team, Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D.

    UNIKOM X Google Learning Center features a space design that supports flexibility and productivity. The laboratory includes one main area called the Main Area, an open space that allows visitors to freely explore, discuss, and work flexibly with various collaborative seating options.

    In addition to the main area, there are three supporting rooms designed for more focused activities. Two focus rooms with a capacity of four people are intended for students or teams conducting in-depth discussions, project development, or collaborative research. Meanwhile, one ultra focus room is provided for individual use, enabling users to work more privately and concentrate fully on developing models, conducting experiments, or performing AI–based analysis.

    The laboratory is not only intended for students but is also open to lecturers, the entire UNIKOM academic community, and the wider public when needed. With its adaptive and inclusive spatial concept, the UNIKOM X Google Learning Center serves as a cross-disciplinary collaboration space that supports the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through technology.

    Through the establishment of the UNIKOM X Google Learning Center, UNIKOM further strengthens its commitment as a visionary, technology-based higher education institution with a global outlook, while contributing to accelerating digital transformation in Indonesia. This strategic collaboration also marks UNIKOM’s position as the first university in Indonesia to collaborate directly with Google in the development of an Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) officially established an international partnership with University of the Philippines Mindanao through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held at the Office of the Konsulat Jenderal Republik Indonesia in Davao City, Philippines, and broadcast in a hybrid format via Zoom. The MoU marked an important milestone in strengthening academic relations between Indonesia and the Philippines, particularly in the fields of higher education, research, and technology-based innovation.

    The signing ceremony was represented by the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City, Agus Trenggono, who attended alongside officials of the Indonesian Consulate as a form of diplomatic support for enhancing higher education cooperation between the two countries. Also present online were members of UNIKOM’s leadership, including Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D., as the Deputy Vice Rector IV, Dr. Senny Luckyardi, S.P., M.M. as the Director of the International Program, Irfan Dwiguna Sumitra, S.Kom., M.Kom., as the Director of PTDSI, Ph.D., Dr. Henike Primawanti, M.I.Pol,  as the Head of the Cooperation Division. From the University of the Philippines Mindanao, the event was attended by Chancellor Prof. Lyre Anni E. Murao and other university officials.

    In his opening remarks, Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, Ph.D., representing the Vice Rector IV for Digital Technology & ICT, International Program & Center of Excellence, Prof. Zainal Arifin Hasibuan, Ph.D., stated that Indonesia and the Philippines share historical, cultural, and regional ties as fellow Southeast Asian nations. This closeness, he noted, provides a strong foundation for strengthening academic collaboration that is responsive to global challenges and regional needs.

    “This MoU is not merely a formal document, but a strategic bridge to expand faculty and student mobility, develop joint research, and promote various interdisciplinary academic initiatives. This collaboration is expected to integrate regional potential with global knowledge networks to create sustainable impact,” he said.

    He further added that UNIKOM, as a higher education institution focusing on science, technology, innovation, and applied research, views this partnership as a concrete step toward strengthening institutional digital transformation and internationalization.

    In line with this, the Director of the International Program, Dr. Senny Luckyardi, expressed her hope that the MoU signing would not remain an administrative formality but would become a significant milestone for both institutions. She emphasized that the momentum opens opportunities for lecturers and education personnel to build closer, more productive, and sustainable collaboration. She also conveyed optimism that the partnership would be actively implemented through concrete programs providing tangible benefits for both parties.

    Meanwhile, the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City, Agus Trenggono, expressed his appreciation for the establishment of cooperation between UNIKOM and the University of the Philippines Mindanao. He underlined that higher education collaboration plays a strategic role in strengthening Indonesia–Philippines bilateral relations, particularly in science, technology, and innovation. According to him, inter-university cooperation reinforces people-to-people contact, which forms the foundation of long-term relations between the two countries. The Indonesian Consulate in Davao City also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the implementation of the MoU’s follow-up programs in a concrete, sustainable, and mutually beneficial manner.

    Based on the agreed framework, the scope of cooperation includes student exchange programs that provide academic and cultural exchange opportunities to enrich global perspectives; faculty exchange programs to encourage collaborative teaching, curriculum development, and the sharing of expertise in innovative methodologies; and collaborative research aimed at advancing joint studies in various strategic fields contributing to scientific progress and social impact. In addition, other academic initiatives will be undertaken, including joint publications, international seminars, digital innovation, and institutional capacity-building programs.

    In this context, the University of the Philippines Mindanao, which promotes the Education 5.0 for Regenerative Futures framework, emphasizes the importance of education oriented toward sustainability, resilience, and inclusive development. This shared vision aligns with UNIKOM’s commitment to integrating technology and innovation to address global societal challenges.

    Through the signing of this MoU, both institutions expect to initiate a dynamic and productive partnership that will not only strengthen institutional capacity but also make a tangible contribution to the development of the Southeast Asian region. With a spirit of collaboration and shared responsibility, UNIKOM and the University of the Philippines Mindanao are optimistic that this synergy will produce flagship programs with broad impact for students, academics, and the wider communities of both countries.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM – In accelerating digital transformation based on artificial intelligence (AI), Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) held a Workshop Experience: “Accelerating the Transformation to Artificial Intelligence Ready Campus” on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the 17th floor Auditorium. This activity is part of the institution’s strategic steps in strengthening the acceleration towards becoming a World Class University, which is the result of strategic collaboration between the Vice Rector IV for Digital Technology & ICT, International Programs & Center of Excellence, Deputy Vice Rector IV, INFRANET Directorate, PTDSI Directorate, and the Eduplus Team.

    The Google AI training was divided into two sessions. The first session was intended for lecturers, focusing on strengthening the use of AI in the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education), particularly in research. Meanwhile, the second session was attended by UNIKOM educational staff and was aimed at optimizing AI to support the efficiency of administration and academic services.

    In his opening remarks, Vice Rector IV for Digital Technology & ICT, International Programs & Center of Excellence, Prof. Zainal Arifin Hasibuan, Ph.D., emphasized that achieving World Class University status cannot be realize individually, but rather through the collective efforts from entire academic community. “The transformation towards an AI Ready Campus is a strategic leap that requires a change in mindset from a traditional approach to a smart technology-based work system,” said Prof. Zainal.

    Furthermore, Prof. Zainal stated that AI not only functions as a tool, but also as an enabler that significantly accelerates academic and administrative processes. He also reminded the importance of mastering technology so that the academic community does not become passive users, but rather capable of controlling the technology.

    In the first session, Deputy Vice Rector IV, Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D., delivered training material on the use of Gemini AI by introducing the concept of prompt AI and its various features. The lecturers practiced using Gemini to compile examples of community service projects and real case-based research. The activity continued with material presented by the second speaker, Director of PTDSI, Irfan Dwiguna Sumitra, S.Kom., M.Kom., Ph.D., who presented optimizing NotebookLM as an artificial intelligence assistant for research learning in higher education and the use of Google Workspace features to support digital collaboration, document management, and work system integration in the campus environment.

    In the second session, in addition to receiving training material on the use of Gemini AI by introducing the concept of AI prompts and various outstanding features from the same speaker, the staff was given the task of creating sample official letters using AI templates tailored to the work needs of each unit, so that the use of technology became contextual and applicable.

    As a form of evaluation and learning reflection, several selected lecturers and educational staff were given the opportunity to briefly present the results of the training tasks they had completed in front of other participants. The presentations featured various examples of research projects, community service designs, and AI-based letter formats that had been adjusted to the needs of the work units. The evaluation session not only showed the participants’ level of understanding but also became a space for sharing practices and inspiration for AI implementation within UNIKOM.

    Through AI training with a practice-based approach, intensive mentoring, and the integration of real cases in each session, UNIKOM is committed to building an AI Ready Campus ecosystem that is not only adaptive to global technological developments but also capable of producing competitive academic innovations at the international level.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) continues to strengthen academic transformation by holding a Socialization of the Non-Thesis Graduation Scheme on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Held in the Multi-Purpose Room on the 15th floor of the Smart Building UNIKOM, this event was a strategic step by the university to align its graduation system with the dynamics of scientific development and the needs of the workforce. 

    Present at the event were Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Narimawati, Dra., S.E., M.Si. (Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ir. Herman Soegoto, MBA (Vice Rector III for Research, Innovation, and Accreditation), the Deans, Heads of Study Programs, the Head of Curriculum Division, the Ad Hoc Committee for the Non-Thesis Graduation Scheme, and faculty members from UNIKOM. 

    Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Narimawati, Dra., S.E., M.Si., emphasized that the non-thesis graduation scheme is a form of academic innovation designed to provide an alternative for completing studies that still upholds the quality and learning achievements of graduates. “The non-thesis graduation scheme is a strategic step from the university in responding to the increasingly dynamic challenges of higher education. This policy provides flexibility for students to complete their studies through various forms of final assignments that are relevant to the competencies of their study programs, such as projects, prototypes, design works, scientific publications, or in-depth internship reports, without reducing academic quality standards,” said Prof. Umi. She also stated that thesis are no longer the only option but rather one alternative for students interested in research, while students with practical and innovative strengths can demonstrate their learning achievements through applicable and impactful work, in line with industry needs and developments. 

    Entering the core session, the AdHoc Team for the Non-Thesis Graduation Scheme, led by Deputy Vice Rector IV, Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D., comprehensively explained the concept, mechanism, and implementation of the scheme. The presentation was delivered systematically, covering the policy basis, student criteria, and the assessment model to be applied at UNIKOM. 

    The activity ended with an interactive discussion and Q&A session. Various questions from the participants showed a high level of interest in the graduation scheme as an alternative for completing studies in the future. Through this socialization activity, UNIKOM hopes that the entire academic community will gain a thorough understanding of the non-thesis graduation scheme so that its implementation can run optimally and be in line with the university’s vision as an innovative, adaptive, and globally competitive higher education institution.     BANDUNG, UNIKOM — On Thursday, November 13, 2025, APTISI West Java, Google Indonesia, Google for Education, Eudeka, and BenQ Education, collaborated to organize a workshop titled “Academia AI+: AI-Powered Collaboration in Higher Education.” Held at the Aston Tropicana Hotel in Bandung, the event was attended by hundreds of participants from private universities in West Java, including the Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), and served as a strategic collaboration forum aimed at improving the performance of private universities through the use of artificial intelligence technology.

    The workshop also invited an important figure, the Rector of UNIKOM and Chairman of APTISI West Java, Prof. 3 Prof. HC. Dr. Ir. Eddy Soeryanto Soegoto, M.T., who was present to give the opening remarks. In his capacity as Chairman of APTISI West Java, Prof. Eddy emphasized the importance of digital innovation as a key factor of competitiveness for universities in the AI era. In addition, Google Indonesia also invited several other figures, including Pandu Nugroho (Program Manager of Google for Education), Ahmad Fikri Dzulfikar (Digital Transformation of Google for Education), and Adhitia Dwi Arigi (Program Manager SEA – Google Cloud).

    During an interview, the Director of IT Infranet UNIKOM, Berny Indrawan, S.T., M.Kom., who participated in the event, explained that the main purpose of this event was for Google to provide a comprehensive understanding of Google Workspace for Education, a digital ecosystem that is now equipped with AI technology through Gemini and NotebookLM. Google emphasized that the platform is designed to support all activities related to the three pillars of higher education, including the learning process, research, and academic administration.

    Meanwhile, Information Technology Lecturer of UNIKOM Adam Mukharil Bachtiar, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D., who serves as a guest speaker, explained that the Google workshop discussed the main topics of the benefits and challenges of implementing AI in higher education. He emphasized that the urgency of implementing AI in private universities is not to replace the role of human, but to accelerate and improve the quality of academic and non-academic performance.

    The Google team explained various outstanding features such as Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, Forms, Classroom, Chat, Meet, and full integration with Google Drive, all of which work in a single integrated ecosystem. Specifically for Education Plus users, there is an automatic plagiarism detection feature that integrates the process of checking student assignments in real time.

    The “Academia AI+” workshop presented five main topics: 1) The Benefits and Challenges of AI for Higher Education Institutions. 2) Google AI for Higher Education Institutions: Collaboration, Productivity, Research, and Future Innovation. 3) The implementation of Google AI in the campus environment. 4) Utilization of Interactive Flat Panels as AI-Based Smart Devices. 5) Google Cloud Career Launchpad Program, where each session provides practical insights on the use of AI to support lecturer productivity, simplify the learning process, and provide a more interactive learning experience for students.

    Through these activities, APTISI West Java hopes that all private universities will be more ready to welcome the AI era and be able to utilize technology optimally. Google itself emphasizes that digital transformation is not just an option, but an urgent necessity in facing the increasingly rapid developments in the world of education.
